Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

We made a reservation for March 2026 and booked a room with a fifth sleeper. Where are those rooms usually located?

In any Alligator Bayou building except for the four Preferred Locations ones (so not buildings 14, 15, 18 or 27). Your room could be anywhere in one of the small green numbered buildings in this map:

I don't know how I missed it (it must have been reported somewhere?) but while looking for something else I just noticed that the end of 2026 rack rates are now live on the WDW website. When did that happen, they hadn't been added a month or two ago when I last looked? I've finally been able to complete the last month of my 2026 room rates webpage, including this graph:

And no, I still don't understand that bizarre huge spike on 2-4 October (up to $70 higher than the two adjacent weekends). It's been there for the past few years, and makes no sense as far as I've been able to ascertain - it's not anniversary events, or marathons, etc. It also seems strange that the absolute lowest prices for the entire year are three Monday-Wednesday blocks near the end of August, even lower than mid-January/February. Also of note is Preferred Location is now more expensive that Royal Rooms.

We are DVC, so the five us usually stay at a DVC resort. We usual our points last year, but DD really wants spend her 21 b-day in WDW. We booked a 5 people room here in March 2026.

What are some great things to do/see here. Never been here but we are all excited about it!

Some of my favorite POR things are an early morning walk around the grounds to fill the family’s refillable mugs while they get ready, boat rides to Disney Springs, and walking to French Quarter for beignets. Walking the grounds at night is also relaxing. I enjoyed the carriage ride at POR as well. Yehaa Bob at River Roost some evenings. Taking an evening walk or boat ride to French Quarter for live jazz is on my to do list.

I am going to do a room request for Feb. 2026 5th sleeper. I am torn between 1653, a corner room (love the idea of two windows) but I see it is connected to another room, so I am concerned about the noise. Should I request 1652 woods view instead, which doesn't have a connecting room? We booked standard view, so I know there is a chance we won't get either of these.

There is no longer a Standard View in 2026 - no "view" types at all in fact. You have probably booked either Standard Location (which means a mansion building room in 80, or the rear halves of 85 or 90), or Standard Location 5th Sleeper (which means anywhere in Alligator Bayou except for 14, 15, 18 or 27).

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about having a connecting door, there are two solid doors between each pair of rooms, and if both are closed then it's pretty well screened. The extra window would be much more of a factor to me. 1641 would be nice too.

Thank you! I was aware of the removal of categories but wasn’t sure how that would impact room requests as TP still shows the categories. I will check out that room on Touring Plans.

The existing Categories are still in place until 31st December, after which the new ones come into play from 1st Jan. There is a full description of both versions on my website: https://www.portorleans.org/room-locations.php . I'm going to have a lot of updating to do over the Christmas break!

Ohhh, okay! I will check that out. Thank you for all the info. I haven't been to POR since it was Dixie Landings, and I was a kid (fond memories)! I am excited to check it out, and DD picked the Bayou, which looks so tranquil. It will be a great reprieve from the VT winter!

As we're into December now, this revised overview map from the updated Room Categories Page on my website might help give a clearer understanding of how the new room categories at Riverside will work as from 1st January 2026. There are no "view" options any more, just these simplified categories.

Brown: Standard Location
Green: Standard Location 5th Sleeper
Blue: Preferred Location
Red: Royal Rooms
King Bed rooms have not changed and can be located anywhere around the resort, EXCEPT for buildings 90 and 95

Thank you for this. What used to be garden view rooms in building 90 and 85 are now preferred so a lot more expensive… I love these rooms but If I have to cross 2 bridges to get to the food court / lobby, that is not preferred to me and it puts you further from the bus stops… the price difference was 63$/night for my January trip, not worth it to me.

I have to agree with the "not worth it" statement, I have no issues crossing 2 bridges because it's such a great scenic walk and it's still a short 5 minute walk. We are also not a fan that the Royal rooms are now only in the Parterre mansion. We much rather stay on the mansion side and, for us, these room categories are not good, because we do not like a room facing the parking lot. In all of our POR stays we have never had one.

I don't like the new general categories. We used to book River view because it guaranteed a room that was easy to find and close to the main building. We prefer the mansions buildings, so we will make that request. We have received an AB room before even though we didn't book a 5th sleeper.

We arrived yesterday. The hand soap and body wash pumps have arrived at POR. I'm thinking I was the first guest to use them as I had to prime them to get anything out. As to room category, I requested a mansion building. A wood view was booked. We are in a Florida ADA compliant room in the bayou section. Totally opposite of what I expected. Perhaps Disney saw we typically book the 5th sleeper category so the computer put us here? I don't know? On our next visit I hope I can get a refurbished room.

The pump soap & lotion dispensers were rolled out last week (Wednesday according to one guest, but it could have taken several days).

At the moment, they are down one building at the mansions (as 80 is still closed) so they may well be placing some Standard guests into the AB section (which technically is a free upgrade, although not everyone views it as such).

I've never understood putting guests into ADA rooms unnecessarily. I can understand it when the resort is at full capacity and they have no other choice to utilise them - but 2nd of December?

I don't like taking a disability room from someone who needs, but I figure they know what they are doing. The resort seems slow and plenty of lights on in refurbished non occupied rooms.

We are staying at POR for the first time in May 2026, and have booked a 5th sleeper. I have 2 young children (7 & 2) traveling with me, and I know we'll be visiting Ol' Man Island several times, probably daily. How long (roughly) is the walk from building 37 or 38 to the island? (And also the bus stop, looks like the north depot is closest?) Or is there a different building that makes more sense?

38 is a very short distance, if you're lucky and get a river view room it could be as little as a few yards from your door to the bridge over to the island. The North bus stop is not far either.
