Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

We made a reservation for March 2026 and booked a room with a fifth sleeper. Where are those rooms usually located?

In any Alligator Bayou building except for the four Preferred Locations ones (so not buildings 14, 15, 18 or 27). Your room could be anywhere in one of the small green numbered buildings in this map:

I don't know how I missed it (it must have been reported somewhere?) but while looking for something else I just noticed that the end of 2026 rack rates are now live on the WDW website. When did that happen, they hadn't been added a month or two ago when I last looked? I've finally been able to complete the last month of my 2026 room rates webpage, including this graph:

And no, I still don't understand that bizarre huge spike on 2-4 October (up to $70 higher than the two adjacent weekends). It's been there for the past few years, and makes no sense as far as I've been able to ascertain - it's not anniversary events, or marathons, etc. It also seems strange that the absolute lowest prices for the entire year are three Monday-Wednesday blocks near the end of August, even lower than mid-January/February. Also of note is Preferred Location is now more expensive that Royal Rooms.

We are DVC, so the five us usually stay at a DVC resort. We usual our points last year, but DD really wants spend her 21 b-day in WDW. We booked a 5 people room here in March 2026.

What are some great things to do/see here. Never been here but we are all excited about it!

Some of my favorite POR things are an early morning walk around the grounds to fill the family’s refillable mugs while they get ready, boat rides to Disney Springs, and walking to French Quarter for beignets. Walking the grounds at night is also relaxing. I enjoyed the carriage ride at POR as well. Yehaa Bob at River Roost some evenings. Taking an evening walk or boat ride to French Quarter for live jazz is on my to do list.

I am going to do a room request for Feb. 2026 5th sleeper. I am torn between 1653, a corner room (love the idea of two windows) but I see it is connected to another room, so I am concerned about the noise. Should I request 1652 woods view instead, which doesn't have a connecting room? We booked standard view, so I know there is a chance we won't get either of these.

There is no longer a Standard View in 2026 - no "view" types at all in fact. You have probably booked either Standard Location (which means a mansion building room in 80, or the rear halves of 85 or 90), or Standard Location 5th Sleeper (which means anywhere in Alligator Bayou except for 14, 15, 18 or 27).

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about having a connecting door, there are two solid doors between each pair of rooms, and if both are closed then it's pretty well screened. The extra window would be much more of a factor to me. 1641 would be nice too.

Thank you! I was aware of the removal of categories but wasn’t sure how that would impact room requests as TP still shows the categories. I will check out that room on Touring Plans.

The existing Categories are still in place until 31st December, after which the new ones come into play from 1st Jan. There is a full description of both versions on my website: https://www.portorleans.org/room-locations.php . I'm going to have a lot of updating to do over the Christmas break!
