Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Looking at POR for a trip this June. Is it still possible to get a decent room with less than two months out or should I be looking at a different location?

Try it, what have you got to lose? POR and POFQ could be fairly busy this year given the construction work currently going on at the other moderates though.

Hello!
We are heading to Port Orleans Riverside next week and wondering what type of coffee pods would be compatible with the in-room coffee maker?
Thanks in advance!

60 days till my Hubby's surprise birthday/father's day trip.

Question about the fishing hole. I had read somewhere that they had closed this but I see that it is still listed as a recreational activity on the website. Can someone confirm that it is still open and let me know what the prices are? Also, can you bring your own fishing gear or do you have to rent from Disney?

Still open, and still roughly the same prices. You can bring your own gear if you wish, but the price is the same.

Glad to hear from Andre that it's still open. It's a beautiful peaceful spot to visit even if you don't fish. And the CM, if he hadn't retired yet, has been there for years and is a gem. Take some time to chat with him, he's a font of POR history. And knows a lot about the birds too. While talking with him he pointed out several varieties of birds nearby that I'd never have noticed.

Booked AP discount for a river view Royal Room at POR!
Stayed at POFQ in '12 but never stayed in POR. So very excited about exploring a resort new to us.
My 3 sons and hubby are not coming (golf tournament) so this will be a first-ever "girls only" trip with my DD17 (at trip time) and my BFF who is a fellow disney nut but we've never been there together.
One thing I've already learned about POR is to make sure you check YeeHaw Bob's website for his exact schedule. During our week he has a public event scheduled so he won't be there his usual days. I wouldn't have known, had I not checked his calendar.
Will be making my way through this thread and will no doubt pick up many gems of info!

Enjoy! Mom daughter trips are the best! My daughters are 31&27 and one or both are usually with me.

Looking for opinions on room requests. We are booked at POR with a river view. We drive, so don't care about being close to a bus stop.

I guess being that it's a river view, I would want closer to the food court. I'm thinking of requesting Magnolia?

You could, but you could also request Alligator Bayou #14 which is right next to the food court. Best to let them know why you are requesting it though, as they might otherwise think you prefer AB over the mansions and if 14 is not available look at AB #38 instead of an otherwise-perfect room in Magnolia.

Request what you want - close to food court - rather than a building. (And actually, there's a lot more river view rooms in Acadian than in Magnolia.)

I really need to amp up my research. We have a pool view room for our trip in October. My fiance has a heart condition, so a room closer to a bus stop is important. Work has been so crazed that I really haven't been looking into this enough.
