We had a blast watching him. DGD fell in love with him so much that on Saturday she picked staying at the Resort on our last night to watch Bob over going to MK for WishesYeeHaw Bob was in rare form just last week. He had crowds like crazy during the "Y.M.C.A." song and people were having such a good time. It was nice!
Help! We're thinking about booking POR for January, but can't decide! We're concerned about how sprawling the resort is and the crowds for bus service. Is it a problem? Also, we'll have three adults and two kids and I've heard that with 5 guests that our building options are limited, is that true? We want to be close to the main building. Thanks.
We've stayed at almost every resort on property. Every resort will have good and bad bus services. But over the whole of all our stays at POR, we actually put them at the top of bus/transportation. We find the buses come very often, both at the parks and at the resort. Yes you have to travel around the resort but it is never an issue. We've stayed in both AB and 2 different Mansions. My #1 location was building 85, it was very convenient to both the lobby and the East bus stop. We were in Parterre Place last week and while it was ok, it wasn't as good a location for buses. We could go to South (main) or East. East was a bit longer walk but much less crowded. We usually got on there and off at South.Looking at booking next August, and we usually stay at Contemporary (mostly for ease of transportation), but trying to be a little more budget friendly...
I know you can't really answer if we will be happy here - but how will we feel about the busses? I do like the reviews on the resort in general and picked it as my first moderate choice.
Either building but I prefer the side that faces the river vs. the parking lot just because it cuts down a walking just a tiny bitAny recommendations for a room request? We have a Royal Guest Room with a Garden View.
Did it last week. $18 and change. Can be charged to your room tooAnyone have any idea on the cost of the Mickey Tie Dye that they are doing in August?
We are there then, and I thought the kids might like to participate if it wasn't a zillion dollars.![]()
Not sure about the hours but they do have food but it's very limited and not made there. They have only pre-packaged sandwiches and bags of chips. I think they have 3 sandwiches, Club, Tuna and 1 other.I am staying here in 28 days for the first time. Whoo hoo! Just a question - it showed Muddy Rivers closing at 6pm while we are there. Is that normal? At some other onsite resorts I have been to the pool bars stay open later. I also noticed they don't have food on the menu on the Disney website, but thought I read they at one time offered light food. Did that change? Thanks!
Had to share our unfortunate issue last week. Something I didn't even know was possible. Never happened to us in all our hotel stays in my over 50 years
On our 2nd day we returned to the room to find the door did not open.
Now, not that it turned red when we used our bands, it didn't. It turned green. But when we turned the handle and pushed on the door, it wouldn't open.
Somehow, when Housekeeping left, the night latch had slipped back over in to place so the door didn't open. Never knew it was possible.
We were hot and annoyed but I realized it was no ones fault so we all shelpped back to the lobby and told the CM what was up.
He said that yes it's rare but it does happen. They had to contact maintenance to come and take care of it.
The CM was great.
While waiting on a response from Maintenance he looked over our plans and saw that we had planned to go to HS that night. We had a FP booked for RnR and he asked if there was something else we'd like to do. I said sure, ToT and he gave us all a FP for that for anytime that night. Then he heard me suggest to DH that he go on to the food court to grab some Coke's he wanted to put in the fridge in the room. He gave us a $25 credit on the room account to cover the costs of the drinks. He got the answer from Maintenance that they were on their way so we hung out to cool off a few more minutes and went back to the room. When we got there Maintenance was just starting to reinstall a new night latch. They told us they have to do it several times a day, that somehow the way Housekeeping leaves it causes them to slip back quite often.
I wish we'd been there to see just how they got in without stripping out the screws. They must have some secret way to get a blade in the slim opening. But when they do have to get in they always replace the night latch.
Thankfully, we didn't have the issue again
Thank you so much for your response!!Not sure about the hours but they do have food but it's very limited and not made there. They have only pre-packaged sandwiches and bags of chips. I think they have 3 sandwiches, Club, Tuna and 1 other.
Hi all,
We are planning our kids first trip Sept 2017. DS will be turning 5 on the trip and DD will be just over 3. We have gone a bunch of times (6) before, but never with kids. My sister's family, my mom/stepdad, and my in-laws will also be joining us so we chose POR rather than our usual resort of Pop Century.
.
Never thought of it that way given how small the tub room is...hmmm.
Yep, lots of times. Goes great.Has anyone used Uber from POR to parks? If so, how did it go?
I really do have an aversion to fish and it would spoil my relaxation, shame really as the photos of the lush planting look great in AB!
Yes. Both buildings are near the bridge that comes out right by the end of the building near the luggage and golf cart areas. You may want to call and ask for the River side of the building, that puts you even closer to the bridge. Or use Touring Plans to select one of the river side Garden View rooms. We've booked Royal Room for check in Sept 20th. Originally for on-line check in I put ground floor, corner. But with the new options instead of corner I chose "pool view"...even though we have booked Garden view. I'm hoping that we can bump to pool view if available or hopefully be in either area of the Royal buildings closest to the bridge. Our DS (4) has mild ASD and while not a "runner" he does tire easy. We are renting a stroller for the parks but hoping to avoid using it at the resort.
Anyone think we have a good chance of being near the bridge?
