Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

For those that wanted to know, the roof construction going on never even crossed my mind....that's how little it has affected the overall feel of the resort. There were some tarps near Boatwrights and they were hardly distinguishable.

Not a problem at all.

Thanks for the reassurance! We've been waiting a long time to finally make it to the Riverside

We are staying at PORS for Princess Half Weekend and I'm worried that I missed putting in my "room preferences" when booking online. Can I go back and make requests, or do you do this when you check in online? Thanks!

Getting close to our stay. We have a Garden View room booked, and I just selected Corner room, because I thought there might be a little more room. There are 5 of us, 3 kids and my wife and I. We don't mind walking, and any floor is fine with us. Is there any reason to ask for anything special? We also don't get in until later at night, around 8ish at the airport, so I am guessing it could be as late as 10 getting to our resort. So I know that timing of when I arrive may or may not play a factor into what room we get. Honestly, I am fine with whatever we get, as I am pretty easy going, but figured I would ask you all if I should go through the process of sending the fax, ect like Andre has outlined to get the room you really want.

The kids and wife and I are getting very excited, less than three weeks, okay 19 days, until we arrive. :)
:) We have 17 days today! :) Can't wait!! love when it's under 20! (had to edit to 17 days). we LEAVE in 16, but won't arrive at POR until 17 days. LOL

You can do this during online check in, or can call any time to have requests manually added to your room.

Agreed. I was sort of across the parking lot from a construction area. I heard some beeping during the day (when most people would be at the parks anyway), but that's about it. I was also there when Ol' Man Island and the bridge was closed. It was kind of annoying, but really had no affect on my stay.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. POR is my fav moderate when not staying deluxe. The grounds are so beautiful I love walking around.

I've had that location in Magnolia Terrace, very convienent close to foot bridge to get to main buildings, and I always used the bus stop across the parking lot.

Did you get to see Bob Jacksons show?

I did enjoy the food court, especially the make your own pasta bar. And big enough for 2.

We are flying to Ft Lauderdale 1 week from today, wow! Where does the time go?

The food court is pretty good! I spend a lot of time at the resort, so I eat there a lot.

In the past we have stayed at the Yacht Club three times and OKW twice. Having been to look around POR and POFQ I have decided to give this a try, in the main because Disney is becoming very expensive for us Brits, as we tend to stay for 2 weeks.

I have drooled over all of the photos and read lots of comments. I have decided on POR and booked a pool view room. Now I need to decide between the Alligator bit or the Mansions. Any guidance greatly appreciated. Not going until next year in August so plenty of time to put my building request in.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but you cannot be guarenteed either the Bayour or Mansions unless you book preferred or have 5 guests ( then you get Bayou) or royal room ( mansions.. A family of 5 has to have Bayou as these are the only one with the pull out murphy bed.

we have stayed in the RR and Bayou.... for the first few years we avoided the Bayou,, we thought it wasnt our thing... but last year we were there and looooved it. the rooms are really nic and the foilage is so lush. ... keep in mind only 2 floors and no elevator... Bayou is more cabin like ( but in a nice way) and woody and Mansions are more open... You can request what oyu preferr, but like some one said,, take a look at the maps...

That is correct. If you book preferred or have 5 guests, you'll get AB. If you book a Royal room, you'll get Mansions. Those are the only guarantees.

Woohoo! I just booked this for an October stay. I will be visiting Epcot for the F & W festival as well. First time at this Moderate, I'm going to request Magnolia Bend area by calling tomorrow with my reservation number. How well do they do with requests normally? Looking forward to reading through this thread.:)

Finally bit the bullet and booked my trip for February! Now...where is my discount? I am always biting my nails until they come out.

I have a confirmation number for my POR reservation but am not sure where to locate my ressie number. In the past, I could find it when using the make payment option on my account, but since my balance is paid I don't have that option to see it in the url. I'm staying in early December. Do I need the reservation number in addition to my confirmation number for anything like deliveries or checking in? Thank-you!

Are you looking for the 12 digit number that Disney uses for reservations? If you are using Magical Express then it will show up on the luggage tags. But I don't think there is a time when you will need it if you have a package reservation.

It would be in your My Disney Experience under Reservations. Isn't Reservation # and conf # the same? I don't recall getting 2 different numbers.

Is the main dining hall the only place to fill up refillable mugs? Or will the pool bar do so as well?

Just the main Riverside Mill food court I'm afraid.

Just got home today from a five day stay. Sorry I didn't see you AndreWilley!

Sorry I missed you.

If anyone is going to be at Port Orleans on Saturday 6th August, I've got a little meet planned at the River Roost Lounge at 7pm - see https://www.facebook.com/events/1137482842981655/.

I saw a post on another site showing roof construction is still going on at the Mansions. Can someone please tell me if that is correct... or hopefully, that it's not and the construction is finished.

It's finished now, they took everything away last week.

Does anyone know when the August calendar will be out?

I posted it last night.

Andre

Fun to have a meet!! Sadly I'll be in Florida then but not Wdw till 8/13. DHS on 8/13

Help! We're thinking about booking POR for January, but can't decide! We're concerned about how sprawling the resort is and the crowds for bus service. Is it a problem? Also, we'll have three adults and two kids and I've heard that with 5 guests that our building options are limited, is that true? We want to be close to the main building. Thanks.

Thank-you for the reply. I am talking about the reservation number that in the past began with 44. I needed it two years ago for reserving BOG lunch ressie's online.(Not needed now).I have booked a package for POR so that may be why I don't have the reservation number visible?. Appreciate the help on DIS!
