Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

I have a Royal Room with a Garden View. For mobility reasons I am planning on asking for a corner room on the ground floor as close to the main building as possible. Do you think that is too much to ask for?

Nope. My last stay I was recovering from knee surgery. I told them I just had knee surgery, and requested to be in Oak Manor close to foot bridge. I also wanted 2nd floor, so my room was also pretty close to elevator. Great location. I think the POR room assignors do a great job.
It helps with them knowing your needs, so I'd include that info and fax your requests to the room assignors around 5 days before arrival.

I just booked here rather than All Stars, but I'm worried about the walk to transportation. Preferred rooms were all gone. Can you tell me what else to request. I have issues with foot fractures so walking can be a real issue so the fewer steps I can take the better. I booked a Garden View. That's all that's left. I've never stayed here before so could really use some help. Thanks.

question about the rooms: when were they last updated? I am currently looking at picture online and I am not sure if I am looking at outdated pictures or if they are current. Where would be the best place to see current pictures?

I like the mansion section. I think a GV room in Magnolia Terrace or Acadian House and requesting a location close to the Old Man island foot bridge is a good location. Just over the foot bridge past feature pool is the food court, and the main building.
As I mentioned I faxed room assignors with the reason why I was requesting the locations. It helps them with room assignments if they know the reason why you're requesting a certain location.
These 2 buildings are the non Royal buildings in mansion section. They also have bus stops behind them across parking lot. They're less crowded than main depot, so you can just relax on a bench to wait for your bus.

For reference, one dead giveaway you are looking at old pictures (for all rooms on property) they have full bedspreads. Those are all gone
Brings up a question (may not be the best place to ask though) since the change to the runner on white bedspread furnishings have any resorts had a 2nd soft goods remodel?

:thumbsup2

Make sure you check out all of Andre's awesome site. It's the best resource for all things POR and POFQ. Blows the WDW site away!
I have to second this. I have looked at lots of unofficial sites for various resorts. His is one of the best, no doubt.

The last major refurb of furnishings and soft goods was 2012. We stayed in a Royal room a few months after they were available. I'm not sure when they changed over from the bedspreads to the runner, that was in the last year or two.

ONE OF the best? ;)

Actually, I do have to agree with you, the best independent resort site by a very long way is Tikiman's excellent Polynesian site. No contest, his is a fantastic and wonderfully researched resource.

LOL.... Don't sell your site (or yourself) short. I think yours come in a very close 2nd ;) It's not a long way apart at all. :thanks:

We had booked a king room when we were there last August and it had a great pool view. We were just about the closest room to the quiet pool. The pool was very quiet and usually had very few swimmers. Have you ever had any problems with noisy people swimming at night? We would love another pool view room, we have a king booked, but would hate to get a noisy location.
I

We ARE the loudest people at night!

But to answer, it's never too loud and we do hang till late. It's why we love POR.

OK so I was lucky to have a pin code for my november dates but the only one available was the Royal Room (still saved $50/night).. Anyways since I am the only girly in the group do you think they are too girly for DH ans DS (17)?

Nope. We've stayed in them and have one for this upcoming trip. I think it just gives the room a more being in the Disney bubble feel to me. We selected pool view so we are guaranteed a room close to the foot bridge.

Booked a gv with free dining 8/28-9/2. Stayed at POFQ in 2006. I think
I am going to request AB building 16 or 17. The mansion section doesnt appeal to me....but its a surprise trip for my 25th anniversary, so I hope he likes it! He likes Louis from Princess and the Frog.
