You'll be fine, River View rooms in AB are all quite a short walk. Put building 14 in your request if you like, as those are the best located rooms in the whole of POR - but even if you get 27 or 38 the walks are still pretty short.

So not all AB rooms have the extra bed??

They all do, with the only exception being the modified wheelchair accessible rooms where the added armoire does permit enough space for the bench seat & extra bed. Hence this conversation, as those type of accessible rooms should be on the ground floor only in AB, as far as I know.

Thanks for the reassurance Andre. I booked POR preferred room specifically for that 3rd bed because our family of 4 has 2 older kids now who need to spread out in order to sleep! Plus, it has been a while since we've stayed at POR and we do already know we love the resort....but sleeping arrangements are quite important to us .

I know I would want a preferred room because RS is so large. When we did a standard room at CBR we didn't get any requests we wanted and were the farthest room away from everything. It's just a matter of personal preference. FQ is much smaller, and the decor is different. POR is more my style, so I can live with the size. Whatever you choose, the other one is walking distance, so you can visit!

We were in a non-preferred room at POR (a Royal Room over in the mansions) and we found that it was plenty close to things. We really enjoyed POR and the ambiance in the mansion section was lovely. I thought the river through the middle would be an inconvenience and found that I was happy it was there because the whole place has a peaceful sort of charm.

My only hesitation buying into DVC was that POR will not be a cost effective option anymore. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

I can't help you with the question as this is our first stay on site, but it's nice to see a kindred spirit. The main reason I chose POR was beignets. lol

Question: Are beignets counted as a snack(can I get them using a snack credit)? Going to POR in February (been there multiple times and it is my fav resort), but have never tried the beignets nor walked over to FQ and want to do both.

Just booked our room at POR for spring break (3/26-30) with a great rate!

Now, that great rate is with a garden view room for 5. What are the best buildings that accommodate 5 and are garden view? I'd like to be fairly close to the buses and a pool. Thanks for any advice!

We also like being on the other side of the river, we really enjoy walking over the bridge and enjoying the river, boats, theme and sights.

I have a question about the pool refurb. Are they doing anything substantial or is it just routine maintenance?
I just booked for March 19 and the refurbishment warning states the pool will be closed through Spring 2016. I thought I had previously read a date of March 4 to reopen? I realize that we can use the quiet pools and even walk over to POFQ, but I am curious if the statement "through Spring 2016" is foreshadowing a longer than previously expected refurb?

At the moment the target date is still 4th March (8 weeks downtime) but of course that can still change - the FQ Children's Water Play area was due to be completed by 24 December for example, but now it's looking like the end of February is more likely. At the moment the POR work, which is a combination of routine work on the interior of the pool and also adding some perimeter barriers, is looking like it's on course is all I can really say. Given that they started work two weeks ago, I rather doubt it. Unfortunately, I think it will most likely still be closed until the first week in March.

Since there are 3 of us (DS6), is it safe to assume we will be put in alligator bayou? What do I need to do, if anything, to make sure we are in alligator bayou and not stuck without a murphy bed?

Good to hear it looks like the main pool maintenance is on course. I may be at Riverside on March 15-22, and I guess the hotel will be at higher than average occupancy due to March school break and Easter; my children like the quiet pools because they are less crowded, but if the main pool is closed then, the quiet pools may be crowded more than usual, so I hope there will be no or little delay in the maintenance on the main pool.

If there are three occupants in a King Bed room that will guarantee you are in the Alligator Bayou section, so no need to request that. You can request any of the 'preferred' buildings if you want, and even try for a river or pool view (those are requests obviously, but they are within your booking category).
