Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

I checked in today on MDE and requested a king-sized bed, which is my most important request. But is there a way to note "close to transportation"? I didn't see it on MDE. I have a fax request set up via TP and think I might have noted in there, but I figure the more places I can list it, the better.
Did you book a King room? If so, you won't need to request a King bed.

Question about laundry at POR and POFQ. Are there any dispensers for detergent on the washers or do you just put it right into the washer tub? I'm asking because the travel pods of detergent are convenient for travel, but at one hotel there were dispensers to put in the detergent and the pods did not work.
We're staying at POR, but might do laundry at POFQ. (The kids will do the pools while the moms do the laundry!)

(And I just checked the awesome PortOrleans.org info site and read about the neat online tool to check availability and status the washers and dryers! :cool1: How cool!)

I am pretty sure I did, but I figure it can't hurt to request it. I had previously been told that King rooms aren't guaranteed at POR? Either way, it doesn't hurt to make the request as well.

We booked a standard room for March. Family of 4. I'd like to be close to the pool, but also transportation. Thinking of requesting one of the Mansions. What do you think?

No that is incorrect. King rooms are a bookable category at all the Mod resorts. If you want one, you book one. Otherwise, it's a bit of Pixie Dust to be put in one when you didn't book one, much like getting a Royal room when you don't book one.
It doesn't hurt to request it if it's what you booked but it's a waste of a request. If you book it, you get one. If they can't put you in one for some reason a request for King isn't going to be granted over a booked King room. So a request is not doing anything for you, if that makes sense.

I just booked December 14-23rd!!! I am so excited, the thought just crossed my mind last night and I booked today!! So I haven't told kids, and am going to try so hard to keep my mouth shut! My kids love por. Plan right now is to show up to school with some mickey balloons on the way to the airport! Now i need to go see if i can find any adr's lol

This is SO awesome!! What a great surprise that will be! I hope to be able to do this one day (my daughter's only 2 lol)

You will absolutely love it. I think Andre says it best: Port Orleans is my second home-I never get homesick when I'm there, but it does happen the other way around!!! We will be there for 5 nights starting on Saturday (our date with Bob) and cannot wait to get on the road to WDW.

Agreed. I miss it all the time! I wish I was there right now.

I'm changing our WL reservation to POR Royal Room Garden View, 12/16 thru 12/24. For room requests, I'd like to have a fourth floor AND a corner. Is that too limiting? If it is, is changing it to third or fourth floor corner much better? Should I make the request when I change the reservation?

Are the Royal Rooms much further to the main building and buses than the preferred rooms?

Thank you!

You'd need to say "top floor" or something like that. I don't think it's too limiting. That's what is good about the fax though. You can give them an order of importance, in case they can't fulfill all of your requests. Info for that is on the first page of this thread if you haven't seen it.

Which pool? A quiet one or the main one?
Mansion building 85 fits the bill
Go out the river end and you are right at the bridge to Ole Man Island (and the pool) and go out the other end and you are at the East bus stop.
Pretty much only way to get a similarly positioned building is in the Preferred area, which puts you near the South (main) stop
The buildings nearest to the West or North stops are pretty far from the pool.

Awesome thanks so much!!!!!

Having a wonderful time here at POR! We arrived about 3 pm Sunday, room in building18 wasn't ready yet, even though it met all my requests I decided to take a ready room in 14 that was fine, just wasn't a corner. Had a superb dinner at Boatwright's Sunday night, DH had prime rib and I had NY strip, both of us chose the pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. We've been using the South Depot exclusively, very good so far. Bus was packed leaving Epcot last night so we decided to wait for the next one, good choice because it arrived a few minutes later and everyone had a seat. Poured buckets earlier but this was a down night for us anyway after a long MK day and dinner at 'Ohana. In fact, I'm typing this on my phone while in bed so I'll be well rested for Animal Kingdom in the morning! Beds are extremely comfortable, pillows fluffy.

SummerLady... Congrats on discovering THE #1 hidden gem of a restaurant, in Boatwright's. Amazing food that no one knows about. I'm just sorry that you didn't get the chance to have the bananas foster for dessert.
