Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Yeah, they do get some stolen, and also some of the bed scarves go walkies. When the Royal Rooms first opened they even had some of the themed bedspreads go. And one of the small padded bench seats (the Beauty and the Beast 'enchanted dog' themed ones) was found in a parking lot where someone obviously found they didn't have room in the car to steal it.

They have a very limited stock of spares to replace these items (and also some will presumably have to go away for washing) but as far as I know they as still standard accessories for the rooms.

Oh, and alarm clocks are definitely being switched over to being "request" items at the moment. They have recently noticed that a lot of were unplugging the powered clocks anyway to plug in USB chargers for their phones. Odd really, as there's a spare socket there behind the bedside table anyway (which I plug a 4-way power strip into, and I leave the clock connected). But they are monitoring how many people are requesting them (I know we will being doing so).

That's just crazy!! Can't believe someone actually trying to steal a bench! Not to mention bed scarf or bed spread. Surely they'd notice these things were missing from room and charge them to room bill?

I believe they do contact guests when these sort of issues are discovered, but I don't know what the success/recovery rate is.

I sometimes wonder if that's why they make the supplied towels so ridiculously small, so no one would actually want to steal them?

And prob why they don't put resort name on them or any insignia. Can you imagine how many towels would take a walk if they had a small Mickey head on them?

My mother used to take the wash cloths from hotel rooms because she liked how thin they were.
Lol, my grandma used to take a hotel ash tray if it had hotel name on it, or the odd towel with a hotel name as a suvie!

We are six days from arrival day and I've written a room request fax that I plan to send tomorrow morning. We have two rooms, one preffered and one king, and I'm asking for them to be close to each other. In order to increase the likelihood of getting our request, I didn't make any other requests for the preferred room. But for the king room I requested a corner room. I hope we get our request met. :)

I asked this question in a different post that got moved to the FastPass forum, but it's really more about understanding how long it takes to drop off stuff at POR and get to MK rather than FP+ specifically.

We're driving in to Orlando mid to late morning on a weekday at the end of August. Anyone have insight on how long it will take to get our stuff settled (either in our room or with our bags at the bell hop/baggage holding service) and then arrive at MK via buses? I have no idea how quickly hotel guests are processed so that I can start to think about park planning that first day when we get a late start. AKA what's the earliest I should plan for FP or ADRs!

(I'm also considering driving straight to the Transportation Center if I can avoid parking charges by checking in online ahead of time if that makes sense to just get started with our fun since we're only in the parks for 3 days.)

I have a garden view room booked, what is the best building to request?

The suggestion around here is always to ask for what you want, not so much a specific building. That way, depending on availability, they can get you what you need.

We just upgraded our resort from All-Star Movies to Port New Orleans (June 18-27). I am new to posting so I am not familiar with the abbreviations. Sorry! ☹️ Here are my questions...What buildings should I request? We are a family of 3. When should I make my requests? The resort looks beautiful!!! Thank you for your advice!

So excited! We leave town in exactly seven days for our seven-day stay. We are driving to Jacksonville Monday night and then spending Tuesday in St. Augustine to see the historical sites and enjoy the food. When our day has finished in St. Augustine we will move over to the Marriott at Flamingo Crossing before getting up on Wednesday morning to head over to Epcot before check in at POR. This is our first stay at this resort and can't wait for seven great nights. At this point, we are packed and ready to go. As Tom Petty sings... The waiting is the hardest part!

I am getting ready to put a letter together to fax over to Riverside about our room request, What information do I need to have in the letter?

Thank you! I always forget to look there first.

Sorry, I used to have the FAQ post mentioned within the title of the thread, but then TPTB at the DIS decided to rename all of the FAQ threads and took that wording out. Which just added more confusion, but hey, at least you found the thread anyway!

We are arriving with our son and grandson on Saturday around noon. They plan to go swimming before heading off to the parks later in the afternoon. If the room isn't ready will a locker at the main pool hold a small suitcase, the size of a standard carry on suitcase? We would check our carry ons will Bell Services but they need to know if they should pack a smaller bag if the locker won't fit a small suitcase.

Does anyone have any pictures of the building that has the lockers and showers?

Thanks.
