Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Just booked my first stay at FQ! Really excited--I usually stay at CSR, but when I saw that

We just got back last week and we will never stay at another resort! We absolutely loved it. Stayed at CBR in 2014 and I didn't like it at all. The size of POFQ was small and quaint and for the 8 days we were there, 9 minutes was the longest time we ever waited for a bus! It was great. Only thing I didn't love was the food court, but we went to Riverside a couple of times to make up for it.

Hey Guys,

Some great info on this thread, we are having out first even stay onsite at POFQ in December and cant wait we have a garden view booked. Just a few questions if anyone could help me with I would be grateful. We can now do online check in and the options are
Corner Room
  • Ground Floor
  • Second Floor
  • Upper Floor
  • Lower Floor
  • Near Elevator
  • Near Transportation

Is it worth doing room requests or should I just leave it up to fate, we can do up to two on MDE I wasn't sure if a upper floor would be better as can you here people above you if you are on ground floor? Also im not sure if I want a connecting door and had heard that corner rooms were better, I don't know if this is true or not? I think I read a few pages back that you can fax forms over aswell, is there a specific form you are supposed to use?

Also this is going to be a silly question but how do you use the buses back from the parks to the resorts, I assume there are separate bus stops for each resort but how do u know if the buses are being shared or not?

Many thanks

I'm going in two weeks, we were hoping to make extensive use of the water facilities so this is disappointing... what exactly is being refurbished? I've never been before so I'm not sure.

I sure hope that they arent taking down the dragon slide.

I heard only the kiddie pool is affected, not the main pool, nor the slide. I was hoping that someone who's been there recently could comment.

If you read my news post on the subject, it's only the children's paddling pool that is closed as they are converting it into a water play area like they've done at the Poly and some other resorts. The main pool, slide, and hot tub are not affected at all.

I'd suggest upper floor and corner room as requests. You can't request Connecting Rooms via online checkin, so you'd need to phone the reservations center in advance and/or send a fax to the resort 3-5 days out.

And as for buses, the bus stops at the parks are clearly labelled and there is normally a cast member pointing people in the right direction too. Look for "French Quarter" on the bus marquee if they are running a direct service, or "Port Orleans" otherwise. With the exception of Animal Kingdom buses, French Quarter is normally the first drop-off for any shared services anyway.

I think I may have convinced my husband to make a switch to here from the Poly for our next trip, which will hopefully be next February. Yay!

I arrive Sunday to visit my DD doing her internship! In August, we were in building 7. That was just too far for me. Should I fax a request tomorrow? I don't really care what floor, but I have really liked building 5 in the past. Or should I just hope for the best? I don't want to be a pest! Just so excited to have a "mother-daughter" visit!! ;-)

Good Morning - Just curious when the November recreation schedule for Port Orleans French Quarter will be available? Thank you!

Andre usually posts the new one about 3-4 days before the 1st of the new month.

My daughter is now completely on board to switching to the French Quarter from the Poly now that she knows we will have to get two rooms. Yay! The only downside is that the TA that I am going through only has the standard view rooms available at their special rate and I really wanted garden view. But I can deal with that.

1. Why are the standard view rooms higher priced than the garden view ones in 2016?

2. So the quote my TA sent me was for standard rooms, and I am hoping to get connecting rooms. But from what I can tell there are far more connecting garden view rooms than standard. I just wonder if they don't have any standard ones available that connect, would they possibly upgrade me to garden view.

Standard rooms are no longer more expensive than Garden View. They were when the 2016 rates were first launched, but they soon corrected that. Somewhat my fault I'm afraid, as I queried the pricing with the Room Inventory Manager and he agreed that it wasn't right and arrange for it to be corrected. This is now the 2016 rack rate pattern:

Oh, well I was using Mousesavers for my numbers, and they still have them listed as cheaper. Only by a dollar or two.
