Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I asked to an upper floor but that is all. I think I will do online check in since we will arrive later.

Well, I am counting down the days. I am so looking forward to returned to POFQ. My daughter and I stayed there in 2010. I will be doing a solo trip in October.
I am so thankful for all of the information provided here.

Driving down the first weekend of Oct from South Carolina! If I threw my bike in the back of the car would it be ok to ride around the POFQ and POR areas? Are there bike racks available?
I know there are surrey bikes for rent and would love to take advantage of the same path they take...unless it would be crowded or a hazard for walkers and resort guests of course. Bringing the bike would be for leisure and less of a high speed fitness activity. Anyone have some insight? :thanks:

Since they have regular bikes for rent as well, I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to use your own bike. And during the day, most guests are going to be in the parks, anyway.

We'll be there in only a few more weeks! Our magic bands arrived last week so now it feels really real. Can anyone who has stayed recently tell me if muffelettas are still on the menu at POFQ? I didn't see them listed on one site but I did on another. I know they have them at POR but they aren't nearly as good and they're served cold. Ick. We always have muffelettas and beignets for lunch on our arrival day, it's been our tradition every trip and I'd hate to give it up this time.

There was a menu update at both resorts on Wednesday, and POFQ did not have muffalettas listed any more. However there will apparently be some specials which will very from day to day, so it's possible they may be included that way. POR does still have muffalettas listed. I will be updating my menu pages shortly, but we've been a bit busy around the parks to sit editing at the moment.

Here this week since DD starts her internship tomorrow. Used online check in for the first time. Booked a garden view room and on the check in preferences I put upper floor but indicated room ready was more important. We were given first floor in building 7. I prefer building 5, but this room was ready and we came in from Auto Train and REALLY wanted to get cleaned up! Lol

At least the resort is small enough that the distance of the building to the main resort area isn't too bad.

Does anyone know the window pane size? Wanting to make window clings which my DH has done before but he can not remember the size. Thank you

Just completed our online check-in (and walked my MIL through it). Only 26 more days until we return "Home" to POFQ. We are extremely excited. :)

Thanks so much for the updated pictures. I love the fact that they don't have those scary bedspreads anymore! The beds do look comfy!!

Beds are VERY comfy! Pillows, however, are horrible! :-(. We fly, or I'd definitely bring my own!

What are the advantages of the online check-in? Thank in Advance.
The advantage of online check in is to help your check in process go much faster than having to wait in the regular line. They have a separate desk for online check in only.

However, in my experience at POFQ, the resort is not that big and the lines are not that long at the front desk area. It would help to do online check in if you were at a much larger resort and arriving at a "peak" arrival time for many.

The one slight advantage of online check in is they have the folder of information all ready for you, as well as your credit card info in their system. So, when you arrive at the online check in, they give you your room number with all your information ready to go. It saves you a few minutes.

The other "advantage" (and I mean this one sarcastically) is you can choose an option to get a text saying your room is ready and what your room number is and therefore bypassing the check in process. However, in my findings, I don't see the benefit in this. Right now, with the MagicBands, you still have to set up your PIN at the front desk. So while you have the convenience of not having to check in through the texting option, you still have to go to the front desk anyways. Seems like a benefit that sounds cool, but in the end is almost worthless IMHO.

The way to go is to do the online check in, but bypass the texting option since you will have to go the front desk anyways.

Hopefully others will agree with this.

I think the texting option for notification when the room is ready probably has more benefit at the deluxes, where a lot of times you are always going through the lobby anyways and you can set up your PIN when you go through there. We've only been to deluxes since the Magic Bands and the app came out, so our experience is limited to those, but I would think it would be similar at the other hotels like the previous poster said... it's convenient to have it already done, but if you're not arriving during a super busy time, it's probably not that much of an inconvenience to wait. We didn't even need to wait at a desk last December at AKL, though... there was a guy waiting for us outside with an iPad when we got off the Magical Express! Maybe because it was SO slow when we arrived (2pm on a Tuesday afternoon)... we were the only ones on the bus, and there weren't many people in the lobby. :)

Not necessarily. The last 4 trips I have set the PIN for our Magic Bands during Online Check In before we arrived and did not have to do it at the Front Desk. My parents just arrived at POFQ yesterday, set their PIN prior to arrival and did not have to stop by the front desk. Although before arriving they were incorrectly told by a phone CM that they would have to stop by the Front Desk, but they knew better from previous trips.

I'm a little confused about the debate concerning online check-in and the text option. On multiple occasions at POR and POFQ we've done online check-in and selected the text option to get our room number. In each case upon arriving at the resort we went directly to our room. We did not have to go to the front desk or check in with anyone at the Magical Express bus dropoff location. Our bands opened the room doors, we had instant charging abilities, and our park tickets were operational.

Honestly, I don't remember one way or the other about the PIN, and was just going off what the previous poster had said. :D

OK, so to dispel this question once and for all - well, until the next time anyway :)

The case of 24 x 12 fl oz bottles of drinking water costs $6.39 (no tax payable) at the Port Orleans stores, and the gallon bottle of distilled water is $2.95 plus tax (not intended for drinking but for medical equipment requirements, although you could drink it if you want of course).
