Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I didn't know if I should put this here or in dining but I was wondering if POFQ has bottled drinks as part of the DDP?

Yes, a Quick Service meal credit (for lunch/dinner) anywhere at WDW includes one Entrée, one dessert and one non-alcoholic bottled drink.

For breakfast, you don't get the dessert - but oddly they don't replace it with something like a fruit or cereal item, you just get meal and drink.

So you can get stardard bottled soda, water and OJ to go? That sounds pretty useful.
Thank all!

I just wanted to say... I had my TA call today to find out if POR is available for our upcoming trip (it's not). So she told them the reason for us wanting to switch was that the pool at POFQ will be closed. The CM adamantly told her that the pool will NOT be closed (this is the second time she's called about this and been told the pool will be open). So my TA called me back and I think she thinks I'm nuts at this point. Why doesn't Disney tell the CMs the correct info? I told the TA just to leave us at POFQ and that we will just deal with the pool closure. Really though... My TA thinks I'm out of my mind :/.

One more question... What time do the buses start running? We have an ADR at Tusker house for 8:05 and I was wondering if we need to grab a cab? Thanks!

When is the POFQ pool scheduled to be closed?

I've just created updated an PDF file of the POFQ building floorplans, now including Connecting Room details - would anyone like to check it out while I'm still working on the pop-up image versions for the site?

I will email my contact again and see if the refurbishment schedule has been changed (these things do happen of course) but the last time I checked with her it was still on for 13 Jan to 28 Feb approx.

Ok thank you so much! It's strange to me that CMs don't know about it at all. I know they don't know a lot, but this seems important.

well actually it isn't always a bottled drink. some places give you a fountain soda in a paper cup (flame tree, for example.)

and what yousaid about breakfast is one of the reasons breakfast is the worst choice value wise for a CS credit.
we have used CS for breakfast only to use up the credits because we are basically one meal a day kinda people, and a huge CS for lunch and a huge CS for dinner is way too much food for us. ( not to mention the snack).

but for you 3 meal a day people, you're best to pay out of pocket for breakfast. or use a snack credit for a sweet roll, etc.

The pool is definitely closed. I called and the girl said it wasn't, so I had her check with the management and she came back and apologized and said that Yes, it would be refurbed during our stay. (Feb 11-15)

Can you just switch resorts anyway?

Well...that helps! Thanks for letting me know! I find it terribly annoying that the CMs just have no idea what they're talking about...and it's really annoying me that it seems to be making my TA wonder about my mental health :rotfl2:

The only other resort with availability with out discount is CBR. I wouldn't want to do that because of the full sized beds. If I decide to do that, then I'll just go value and save even more. The beds are important to us. So.. I think we're sticking with POFQ. We'll suck it up and head over to POR a couple of times I'm sure.

up until this year didn't they allow you to take a second beverage at CS breakfast to make up for the dessert? I thought I had read that a lot of people chose a bottle of water to drink later. Not a big deal but another thing that Disney has taken away on the DDP.

DDP used to include 2 drinks with breakfast but that stopped at least a couple of years ago. I would get a juice with breakfast and a bottle of water to take to the parks. It's one of the many things that has been cut back, eliminated or neglected in the past few years.

I agree. I passed the gist of your message on to the head of Recreation Activities at Port Orleans by the way, and she said she'll try to make sure that the correct information gets passed on to guests more reliably.

There will be a free shuttle service all day between POFQ and POR to help out - but as has been noted, in the cooler parts of Jan/Feb you may want to be able to get out of the pool and go straight back to the room for a hot shower and wrap up warm.

Having worked management I have learned that you could give each employee a handout, verbally tell them about it, have signs up, AND the computer could prompt them... and you will still have people that don't "remember". It makes me want to hit my head against the wall some days.

I'll be honest, I'm more sad that I can't use the hot tub after a late night at the parks than I am the the pool is closed. I had hoped only the pool was closed, but no dice. Lol
