Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

In regards to the bedding - will POFQ give you some sort of heavier blanket if you ask for it? Our family all sleep under comforters and I am afraid not having one is going to cause problems for us.

:worried:

There are extra blankets in the room and you can ask housekeeping for more if needed.:thumbsup2

So, what does everyone think, apart from the undoubted hygiene improvements, does this look better or worse than the original bedding from the last refit?

Andre

It's a slight improvement, but to me it looks like they didn't finish making the bed, and it's just too much white.

We arrived two days ago to only a white bedding. Yesterday, requested another blanket. Housekeeping brought it right away. Just got back from the park to find a runner on the bottom protion of the bed. It looks really nice. Oh, I am staying in building 3.

I actually LOVE the new look! It seems much brighter and I like the splash of color. The full spreads were very dark, heavy. And I'll take something you can wash after every guest over something that probably hadn't been washed in gosh knows how long! Besides, we always ended up folding the bedspread down to the end of the bed and then waking up with it on the floor. Just one less thing to deal with!

In general...I LOVE white linens....so I'm totally biased.

I think it looks great! I didn't hate the bedspreads either....this is just more my own style. :thumbsup2

Not sure if that's what they've done, but the new runners which have just started going in over the last couple of days are certainly the same pattern:

MUCH BETTER with the runner than without!!! I liked the bedspreads too but I can live with this now that they have some color! Excited for May!

I love the new look. I have never been a fan of bedspreads to begin with though... I also found many of the bedspreads at Disney to be loud/busy. This a one of the reason I haven't stayed at a value. I find the resorts to be decorated in a very bold way and by the time I get back to the resort I was to relax. I find POFQ and POR the most relaxing so far.

I think the runners look great. I'll be there in a week and am excited they got them done before my trip, photos will look so much better. I thought the beds looked unmade without the comforter and it made the rooms look bland. It's amazing how a little touch of color makes a room pop.

Thank God I have family coming in for Thanksgiving this week, these last few weeks of waiting are torture.

I'm still more "like" than "love" (I would really like to see some full room photos for the overall effect, and I think I would vote for using the remaining spreads for new drapes to throw in some more color). But I totally agree about always folding down the old heavy spreads out of the way, and preferring the cleanliness/fresh look of the new bedding.

Personally, I love it! :goodvibes

I think it actually looks BETTER!! Very classy :)

I think it looks fine. It was just all white while we were there but this is nicer. It's nice but not too overdone

I am thrilled to see the clean white bedding accented by the runner from the previous bedspreads! Those bedspreads by themselves were one of the things that turned me off about POFQ. (The food court is the other turn off for me. I guess I'm not a New Orleans style person.) I love this new look and am so happy they have changed it before our visit.

We just returned from a week long stay at WL where the bedding is the same concept; white bottom sheet then a white blanket sandwiched between two white tops sheets and a colorful WL theme runner across the bottom. Oh yes, and a decorative pillow in front of the 4 pillows per bed in white pillowcases.

I like the white linens too for both the ease of cleaning & the look. I was surprised that Disney didn't go this way during the last refurb, especially since this style has become so common among other hotels. I personally thought the old comforters dated the room.

In regards to the new bedding---the refurb left no color in the rooms at all except the spread. So now you have yellow walls and curtains and the dirty gold carpet which is now mostly brown. Guess you can tell I was not really impressed with the refurb. The runner and the little pillow do help with the color but you still have to get rid of the nasty pillow and runner just like with the spread. Guess I'm saying it does not really matter!!

That is now they standard in most hotels. Disney was last place we have stayed in the last 5 or so years that still had a bedspread (which I always pulled off the bed).

Except that most hotels don't have themed rooms. In my opinion, the all-white bedding just doesn't fit the theming at POR or POFQ, and the runner at the bottom does little to break up the huge expanse of white.

We had no issues with the white

It's okay

Just got back from a 10 day stay at POFQ. Was in room 5248, building 5, second floor, corner room, facing the court yard. Was really close to the main building. Could hear the movies in my room, but got used to it after a few times.

I really enjoyed POFQ as it was small. However, because I was close to the main building and had a corner room right by the staircase, it was the noisiest room I have ever stayed in. I guess my personal preference is a quiet room, so I will not request a room close to the main building again. :)

I had the white bedding, no runner.

No problems with mousekeeping or the CM's.

My magic band stopped working for charging one day, but it was eventually fixed (after 3 tries). I had my KTTW card, so I just used that when my band didn't work. I have to say I loved the bands for the convenience of not having to try and find my KTTW card all the time (or leaving my room without my KTTW card and locking myself out of my room, yes I have done that :rotfl2:). And this was the first time I used the room charging option and except for that one day, it worked flawlessly.

Overall I had a great time at POFQ & with the magic bands:cheer2:
