Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I'll have to call tonight and see if there is any chance the FD pin will work at Riverside preferred rooms. I'm thinking that's not likely!

Even if you can't change resorts via the main advanced booking line, there is always the last option of asking at the resort directly. Both POR and POFQ are handled by the same room assignment team, so if you ask at the front desk whether they could transfer you to POR instead (if there is any room availability at all) then they might be able to help. I have no idea if that would work, but it's worth a shot - maybe even try asking via fax about 5 days before your arrival date, so they could discuss any options with you?

Unfortunately, refurbishments are necessary from time to time, so someone is bound to catch a time that something like this is happening - it's just bad luck that it's you.

I've received confirmation that Disney will be running a free shuttle service between POFQ and POR while the POFQ pool is closed.

Thanks, Andre. Do you know where the shuttle pickup and drop off locations would be? Are they continuous? (or just one so if you miss it you stand awhile and wait?)

I'm trying to sort out if we could do that with wet, possibly cold small children successfully or if we should switch resorts.:scratchin

I'm not Andre, but I would assume it would be at the regular bus stops (my guess would be only the main one at POR, but I could be wrong). You could also take the boat that goes to DTD. And like I said before, you could bring clothes with you and dry off and change at the POR pool's locker room before returning to POFQ.

Thanks, Siskaren. I asked Andre because he had direct contact with the resort who told him about the shuttles. I still want to know where and how often these shuttles will be. Even if we change clothes, a swim that lasts into the early evening could be colder in February. (We did this last January, and even a few second run back to the room was enough). The difference between getting a ride right from the pool quickly or having to walk even five minutes and wait 5-10 minutes for a shuttle (or a boat, even colder) makes a difference to me in deciding if we want to change resorts.

I'll ask some more questions, but in the past that sort of thing has been run from the main bus depot, every 10-20 minutes or so. I doubt it will be an 'on demand' pargo taxi service directly to/from the pool, which is the only way that would help wet, cold shivering kids in Jan/Feb. The boat wouldn't help much either, as it gets even colder with the breeze when travelling on the river.

I agree that a swim in Feb is fine while you're in the water, but even a quick dash back to a nearby room can be 'bracing'. You'd need to get them fully changed into warm clothes in the changing rooms IMHO.

Quick question, over at Portorleans.org there are 2 addresses, one is the street address and the other is the POSTAL address. I am making a purchase on disneystore.com to have sent for our arrival, which address do I use? I vaguely remember someone saying it depends if your order is sent by courier or the postal service but I have no idea which way round it goes and which address I should be using for my disneystore.com order. Here in the UK it is one address for everything only so sorry if this sounds like a silly question, I am seriously confused!! :)

If in doubt as to how it will get shipped, use the street address. The Post Office Box number is only for general mail via the post office delivery service, not for courier companies - but I'm sure the post office will know how they should deliver mail for WDW hotel addresses anyway.

Thank you for the super speedy reply! It is much appreciated! I will go ahead and use the street address, I was just a little concerned as it is a rather large order and I really would have no idea how to resolve any issue if it went missing! When I put the address in it keeps correcting it automatically at the zip code (it takes away the -1000 and puts in different numbers but I just changed it back to -1000) so that was worrying me a little too but as you said, I am sure they will know what to do! Thanks again, you are a star! :goodvibes

Do the AAA discounts for POFQ run out fairly quickly??

We are planning on going the last two weeks of August but I won't be booking until January and want to take advantage of the AAA discount since it appears to be the best discount for this resort. We were going to do POR and hope for a RO discount but I really want POFQ.

I want to say yes, with the resort being so small and the number of discounted rooms being even smaller it would stand to reason that it runs out fast.
Possibly you can book it sooner with the deposit and if your plans change you can change your reservation?

Quite, book it now to secure the discount, and then you can always cancel later if you change your mind or a better discount comes out.

Double-check that the agents you book via do allow full cancellations though - certainly direct with Disney is fine up until 5 days before a room-only arrival date.

I booked POFQ on Aug 1 with a AAA discount for Nov. 9 - 16. All they had available was river view. I would have preferred something less expensive but I wasn't surprised since it was only 3 months notice.

Just checked and there is a new picture of the white plain bedding/no purple spread at POFQ up on Trip Advisor.

It doesn't look as bad as I had feared; once they get the runners on the end of the bed I think it'll look even better.
