Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Does anybody have a list of the French Quarter Christmas songs currently played at the resort? Just returned from a wonderful stay there! There’s a country song they play frequently there that I have stuck in my brain—sung in French, a lot of yo ho ho ho’s and Joyeaux Noel are in the lyrics. I miss it there already!! Thanks!

Not sure if this is 100% complete, there may be an odd song missing towards the end. Full credit to my friend John Schmidt who while sitting at the pool bar at Riverside a week or two ago was Shazaming each new song as it played.

Santa's Second Line - New Birth Brass Band
Carol of the Bells - Matt Perrine
It's Christmastime in Louisiana - Johnnie Allan
Christmas in New Orleans - Ingrid Lucia
Let It Snow - The Dixieland Ramblers
Santa Claus Is Coming to Town - Harry Connick, Jr.
Shake Hands with Santa Claus (Mono Recording) - Louis Prima
Please Come Home for Christmas - Don Vappie
Zydeco Christmas - C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band
Papa St. Nick - BeauSoleil
Dixieland Band From Santa Claus Land - Jimmy Dorsey & His Original Dorseyland Jazz Band
Frosty the Snowman - Harry Connick, Jr.
Shakana Santa Shake It - Bo Dollis & the Wild Magnolias
Jingle Bells - Kermit Ruffins
Cool Yule (feat. The Commanders) - Louis Armstrong
Louisiana Santa - Wayne Toups
Parade of the Wooden Soldiers - The Dixieland Ramblers
Christmas Fais Do Do - Marcia Ball
Christmas Gumbo - Art Neville

I think the one you're after is probably "It's Christmastime in Louisiana":

We are staying at POFQ Christmas week (can't wait). One day we want to meet up with friends from Orlando for lunch at a resort or Disney Springs. Parking/traffic at Disney Springs will likely be crazy. Can they meet us and park at POFQ so we can take the boat together to DS? Other option would be to get an ADR at a resort and they can park at that resort, but would prefer going to DS. My question: will they be able to park at POFQ even though they are not a resort guest. Thanks!

Normally that's no problem at Port Orleans, although the Deluxe/Monorail/Epcot resorts can be more of an issue. Very occasionally over Holiday periods Disney may set a blanket ban on non-resident access to all the hotels - but even then if they state that they are meeting/collecting guests who are staying there (name & room number) it should be fine.

I wanted to check to see if anyone has a building renovation completion update? Last thing I believe I read is that buildings 1-4 are completed, 6 still being refurbished, and 5 & 7 are the old style rooms?

Great. Generally what I figured. Thanks!

A lady in housekeeping told me today that half of 7 is closed and being worked on. I said I thought it odd that they only closed half the building and she said they are testing efficiency and seeing if working on half a building at a time would be better. I'll try to take a wander tomorrow morning before I leave and see what is happening over at 7.

I'm not sure if this new or not. I thought they were doing housekeeping every third day. For the record, I did not get every-other-day service, but that may have been my fault. My room was cleaned Sunday, the day after I checked in. On Tuesday I had the sign on the door all afternoon and security did try to get in while I was in the bathroom (was I ever glad I had that latch thrown so they couldn't get in!). Today they called to see what time I'd like housekeeping. I told them since I am checking out in the morning, it didn't seem necessary to do a full room clean today, so just get the trash. A supervisor came by to take out the trash. 1733973911813.png

Note: We're in a renovated room and there is no longer a latch on the door.

Also, we had a sort of mix-up with housekeeping, who claimed we had the sign on the door so they couldn't come in, but we took the sign off and left around 2 pm that day, so I'm not sure what happened. We spoke to the front desk, and they sent housekeeping the next day . . . then we had housekeeping again the day after that (2 days in a row).

But today--2 days after the last housekeeping--we had none. However, we're checking out tomorrow (boo hoo hoo!) so perhaps that's why.

We love our beautiful renovated room. The doors (front, connecting, and bathroom) are all painted a subtle pale lavender. I thought at first it was gray, but it seems to be lavender. Very pretty, as is everything in the room.

There is some sort of latch mechanism, but it's designed to prevent you from propping the door open with it, the latch disengages itself if you try. I forgot to get a photo of it though, maybe you could get some snaps?

The new housekeeping info sign has been in all rooms (POR and POFQ) since at least when we were there in August, but the (intended, anyway) every-two-days housekeeping schedule has been in place for a while.

Well, darn, I saw this thing on the door but didn't try to do anything with it!

Here're photos:

I didn't go over to check Building 7. Just too cold! Checking out in a few minutes to head home.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the safe? Is it big enough to fit a laptop?
it was big enough for my hubby's 17", my Microsoft surface (about the same size as a Chromebook), the power supplies for both of those, an iPad, passports, small bag full of all the house stuff (keys, Canadian cash). This was in one of the renovated rooms and we were able to fit all of that inside one of the older rooms in February as well.
