Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I made a last-minute trip for January and have never stayed at the French Quarter. How far is the QS restaurant from the outer buildings? I want to refill my water bottle with ice/water before catching a bus and trying to figure out the timing for all.
Nothing is very far at FQ. At most a 5 minute walk. You can walk through the food court on the way to the bus stop. It's the best moderate!

The resorts decorate by a lottery system, I believe they start the second week of November. They all should be finished before Thanksgiving.

Building 4 is now open. Building 6 is still being refurbished, and 5 & 7 are still open with old room styles.

I stayed in building 4 from 11/17-11/21 the room was beautiful

a few more comments about the renovations that are ongoing and the gorgeous new rooms.
we're in building 1 garden view, down the end close to building 3. Every single day they have started up work on the roof of # 3 around 7:30, it is noisy, it does smell like exhaust the whole time they're out there (not sure when they wrap up for the day). They block off sidewalks at the foot of the stairs and surrounding the lower level of #1, not sure if they've got anyone in those rooms and if so how people are able to get into them 🤔

the new rooms have so much storage that we've been able to create our own little "junk drawer" making this feel truly like coming home 🤪 there's a deep drawer under the coffee station and we've taken to just tossing everything in there to keep the (what do we call this surface of marble?) Counter top clutter free

The tissue box cover is REALLY HEAVY! Like, break a foot if you're not careful heavy, be sure to keep it away from the edge of a counter (no we didn't do that but i noticed when I needed 2 hands to move it from the bathroom sink area)
There are a ton of great outlets, lighting features and well thought out spaces EXCEPT for the fact that the side of the bed next to the door has no side table or outlet, hard when we've got devices to keep handy. The bed that's next to the bathroom? Better put the skinniest person over there, either that or they will need to climb across the bed, the barn door type thing leaves almost no room to get to past.
Building 1 is much busier than 7 but it's closer to everything else. Next trip we'll go back to #7, wanted a new room and glad we did that!

I take back what I said about our beverage cooler being cold enough, that was only before we put stuff inside. Even with using baggies full of ice we had to stop using it for dairy.

All those negative comments I just made are in the interest of letting people know what's going on, without sugar coating. We love this resort and won't stay anywhere else. Don't regret staying in this room even with the construction waking us up a few mornings.

One last thing - we got onto a bus headed to the springs without looking at the sign and it had just returned so it headed over to do the riverside loop. The grand circle tour took just over 20 minutes before we came back to POFQ and made the 6 minute drive to the springs. That's for people who wonder about how long it takes to ride thru riverside - long is the answer

Stayed in a new room in building 3 11/24-27 and had the best stay - 1st time at POFQ and even my teens said it's a new favorite. It really is the perfect size resort and so charming! We didn't hear any construction noise but definitely walked around some cranes doing roof work during the day at the far end of the building near the parking lot (we had a rental car), wasn't bothersome at all for us.

I had missed the info that Scat Cat's only has live music on weekend nights (Fri/Sat/Sundays?) and so we were bummed we crashed Sunday night and didn't go in, went Monday night and it was a dead zone. Just a heads up in case anyone else glossed over that info!

how long does it take to redo each building.. we are going the later part of May. will building 5 be done .. ( in your honest opinion)

Thank you,, we were there in May and with low water in the river.. we were not able to boat to Disney Springs.. this resort was our first over thirty years ago ..

Our first resort as well for close to 30 years. We have tried many others, but we keep coming back to PO. Going back to French Quarter for Mardi Gras in March. Hope you have a great time.

We're here now in a reno'd room in building 2--and the room is about 10x more beautiful than any pictures I've seen of them. I mean, it is just gorgeous here and the layout is fantastic. Not to mention the pocket door to the toilet/shower area, the lovely walk-in shower, the super comfy mattresses, the lovely fill-in-the-blanks with anything and everything about this room. Yes, we love it.

We were able to add a night onto the beginning of our already-existing BB reservation on a day's notice, which shocked and pleased us. So we checked in today instead of tomorrow and have this bonus WDW day . . . instead of being at Universal another day . . . and we are so so happy to be here.

In answer to the "coldest temperature the room can be" question above, as long as you turn off the heat and turn the a/c on maximum, it should be about -20 degrees F in here, because it is really really cold outside and getting colder. Lows in the low 40s tonight. We have the heat blasting. And I'm putting my fuzzy socks on.

Thanks for sharing your impressions. It's nice to hear from a POFQ fan how the renos look and function in person. We are so excited to be there again in January and crossing fingers for connecting rooms. It's the little things like that pocket door to the toilet/shower room that have me excited!

65 is the lowest it goes. I tried to override it, using video instructions found online but nothing worked.
Thanks. Did 65 feel like 65 degrees? Some times I have set the room temp to 65 but it seems like the rooms never actually cooled to 65.
