Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

I must not have been the only person annoyed, as shortly after I posted I heard someone knocking on their door and they all got really quiet. I could hear the neighbor’s part of the convo, and it was mostly “okay, we’re sorry; we understand; yes, we’ll tone it down”. So props to 1102(?) or whomever for calling it in, and mad love for Pop for actually responding! The only times we’ve had major noise issues at Disney, and I can’t even count the number of times we’ve been here as APs since 1996, was AoA a few years ago when we had someone bouncing a ball above us every morning but never late at night, Contemporary CL right above Chef Mickey’s - we could hear people’s convos as well as plates and silverware, and here at Pop. I moved here from WL, and the only noise I heard there was the MNSSHP fireworks. I suppose when I stay in a BW BW view room, it comes with some noise as well, but that noise doesn’t sound like it’s in the room with me. I would give Pop another chance. One bad apple ruining the bunch and all.
Don’t leave us hanging, were they excessively loud when they came back to their room after their nighttime adventures?

We just arrived at Pop today! I am so happy that we ended up getting the exact rooms we requested on Touring Plans. 60's section, Building 4, ground floor, facing the lake and Skyliner. So excited to start our trip!!!
Far Out location!

Just in case you don't know, the rooms on that side of 4 were originally Preferred.

IMO they are now the best Standard rooms at Pop Century!

Enjoy!

Hey y'all, looking forward to staying at POP come January :)

I have a couple questions though.

I can't get a straight answer on what all could be fit into the mini fridge (or beverage cooler) in the room. Would we be able to take back leftovers?

If your room is placed far off from the main building, are you able to request a microwave?

And are there specific rooms or sections that offer connecting rooms?

Thank y'all :)

There is a picture of the beverage cooler in post #3 of this thread. You can probably fit some leftovers in it but you need to keep in mind that the beverage coolers only cool to about 40 degrees, so that may not be cold enough to safely store certain items (dairy). Some people get beverage coolers that get cold enough freeze water bottles while others have had milk and other dairy items spoil. You won't know how yours works until you get there. I recommend bringing a refrigerator thermometer so you know the temp of your unit.

You can request a microwave but they are very limited, so I wouldn't count on getting one. Consider it a bonus if you get one. (ETA: I should probably mention that I know microwaves can be requested in the Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation <the suites at AoA all have one in the room>. Now that I think about it, I'm not positive that Pop has them available. Hopefully someone else can confirm that they are available by request at Pop. I know I've seen people post that they were able to get one, but now I don't remember if they were only at AoA.)

All of the buildings at Pop Century have some connecting rooms in them. You can request connecting rooms by having a note added to your reservation (either by calling/chatting with Disney or if you used a TA to book the room they will have to add the note). Do this at least a week before your arrival as they start assigning rooms about 3-4 days before check-in. Connecting rooms are a request, not a guarantee or bookable category. If you're hoping to get connecting rooms, I would make that your only request. That will help to increase your odds of getting them. If you don't get connecting rooms, you can go to the front desk and see if there are any available. Sometimes they can move you to connecting rooms the next day.

Microwaves were historically not available at Pop Century but during Covid when the Food Court micros weren't available to Guests,Pop brought in a limited number for Guests to use in their rooms on request.

They continued to make them available post Covid.

So it definitely wouldn't hurt to buzz Housekeeping and request one and see if there are still some available on request.

This was our beverage cooler the day we arrived last month. Some have had challenges with them not keeping food/drinks cold enough but this has never been our experience. We drank the last of our yogurt Fri is the day we left, 9 days after we put them in there.

If you want to request a room with an internal door between 2 rooms, be sure to request Connecting rooms, not adjoining.

Does anyone know if you can purchase rain ponchos at the gift shop in Pop and if so, how much are they?

Yes, and in our experience, they don't have them out unless it's raining, so if you don't see them, just ask. I don't know if they still have this policy, but it used to be they would replace them for free if they tear. In 2009, we had a week of nearly non-stop rain while we were at Pop. On day 2 of our stay we broke down and bought the ponchos for all of us (DH & I and our 5 kids) because we had already blown through our supply of cheap rain ponchos that we had brought with us. I seem to remember that at the time, the adult ponchos were $12 and the child size were $8. So we spent $80 on rain ponchos....and it was by far the best money we spent that week. And we replaced one or two a day due to tears. :D I have no idea how much they cost now, but if we were in for a week of constant rain, I wouldn't hesitate to buy them. If we were just going to have a few brief showers over the next few days, I wouldn't bother -- I'd just use the cheap rain ponchos/jackets that we bring with us on every trip.

1-5 are complete. 6 is in progress. Not sure if next building has been started or not and if so, which one it will he?
Thank you! First stay at Pop and I booked a standard room for myself and my husband. Will be there in 50 days. Am hoping building 6 or 4 on highest floor (we prefer no one above us). If we get a king bed then great! If not then we will each have a bed to ourselves 😂.

What do you think will happen to the contents of the Shadow Boxes?

Packed away in storage for no one to see again?

Given to the Imagineers who collected them.

Sent to Cast Connections?

I wish they would make them available for the public to buy-there were several items I would love to have!

DFB reported in one of their recent videos that the shadow boxes were actually only on loan and went back to their original owners.

I hate that the skyliner is always down during my birthday. Makes wanting to finally have a Disney birthday trip a little less appealing unless I had the money for the Polynesian.
