Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

We have reservations for Feb 2026 for two rooms. Have people generally had good luck with an adjoining room request? It will be very helpful for our family to get that.
Many do but it is not guaranteed.

To clarify, you will want to contact Pop Century and request CONNECTING rooms. Adjoining is not the same.

I would recommend you make connecting rooms your only request.

It's been a mixed bag with us. I generallly visit Pop with my sister and her kids. We have requested both "connecting rooms" and "adjoining rooms" depending on the circumstances. Adjoining rooms usually put us within a few rooms of one another, but sometimes just the same building. Connecting rooms request has worked probably 70% of the time. We're requesting connecting rooms for our trip in August but recognize its just a request. I'll report back after that trip. For February, I believe crowds will be lower so you might have a better chance. As @scrappinginontario stated, make sure to have your request noted and that you're specific about connecting or adjoining.

I would suggest either calling or chatting with Disney (or your TA if you used one) to have a note added to your reservation indicating your room preferences. The ones on the app are extremely limited and may not even apply to Pop. A few years ago I had "theme park view" as an option for AoA. And when we were at Pop last year for a one-night stay, the online options only listed 2 of the decades as options as well as 2 specific floors and garden view (or something like that). There was no "close to transportation" or anything like that. I didn't need to make a room request for our stay at Pop last year because we were arriving around 6:00 p.m. and moving to AoA in the morning, so I didn't care where our room was. I only looked at the options out of curiosity. I know those options on the app seem to change every time I look at them, but they never have the wide range of options (that are actually appropriate for the specific resort) that they used to have years ago.
I am really only looking to be in the 50's section. It was one of the requests when I completed my online check-in so that is the only thing I clicked. I may chat with Disney in August and see about getting that emphasized.
That works fine if you just have a basic request. I have not seem the choices that POP has online, but this was what I found:
  • Section Preference: Choose between the 50s or 70s themed sections.

  • King Bed: Request a room with a king-sized bed.

  • Ground Floor: Request a room on the ground floor.

  • Transportation Proximity: Request to be close to transportation (buses or Skyliner).
Is the accurate?
My request is simple - just 50's section. It was interesting to notice that they had ALL the decades when I did check-in this time. They didn't have that before.

Thanks for the update that they have updated the list of options you can select online. I will update the post on page one with this information. Greatly appreciate your help!!

I will mention that you may wish to prepare yourself for not being placed in the 50’s section. It is one of the most requested sections and Disney cannot always fulfill all requests as it runs at capacity all year round.

If you are not placed in the 50’s, you may wish to go to the front desk and ask if you can be moved? This request may or may not happen but it’s worth asking.

Update:

Current request options available for online check-in are:
- None
- Ground Floor
- Higher Floor
- 50s Section
- 60s Section
- 70s Section
- 80s Section
- 90s Section

There is also a checkbox if you would prefer your room being ready early prioritized over other requests.

As always, selections made are only requests and do not guarantee you will be placed in requested location. Pop Century runs at capacity all year round so not all requests can be met.

If your preference is not listed, you may call or use online chat to make other requests.

Be sure you are using the correct terminology for what you want, "adjoining" or "connecting".
I have had success each time requesting. :tink:

Pop Century terminology:

Connecting = rooms joined together with an internal door that opens between 2 rooms.

Adjoining = rooms next to or close to one another but do not have an internal door connecting them together.

Thanks for the update. Do you remember what else they had as options?

Added: Please ignore, I just went up a bit in the thread and saw scrappinginontario
's post and based on the options we will still be requesting through TP or adding request to our reservation over the phone:D

Can you click multiples options? Such as ground floor and 50s section and 60s section.

Also if you requested connecting rooms when you originally booked the rooms, does that request stay or does it get overridden by the online check-in options? Thanks in advance.

You may make up to two selections online.

How did you originally request connecting rooms? Did you make your original booking by calling Disney or, call at some point to request connecting rooms?

Yes, my travel agent was able to enter text into the booking. I think it was Connecting Rooms, Ground Floor, 50's or 60's building.

Even if you do the booking yourself online, the option to request connecting rooms shows up. It’s on the last page after you enter who is going to be in the room, the next step down are room requests

Had a nice stay at Pop last week. 4 nights, previously I’d only ever stayed 1 night on arrival but I was looking to save some money this time so I could splurge on BC on the back half of a split stay trip.

Room request- since it’s the topic of the moment 😆 I used TP for the first time, requested something like no connecting door, near food court/buses. Got exactly what I was after, was awesome! I checked in online (no requests by me), arrived at like 9:30am and room was already ready. I was required to go to the front desk by the roaming outside check-in CM for an “ID check”. Weird and a bit time consuming having to wait in line. I later realized there was another guest with the same last name after a couple interactions with the front desk so I suspect that was the trigger. They told me my room was ready after my ID check.

Pool- wowza, busy at the main one! And serious lack of shade. Weather wasn’t that good and I was pretty tired, otherwise I would have ventured to a quiet pool.

Skyliner- still love it. I had time this trip to adjust plans so the night of t-storms I stayed in and didn’t deal with it being down

Food court- like the plethora of options, did a couple meals here. Decent latte in the morning.

I will return, though only for 1-3 nights. I liked Pop, liked the savings- but I needed a hot tub by Day 3, my muscles were so sore from park adventuring! I stay off site/mods/Deluxes so I’ve always had access to one, an amenity I had under-rated prior.

(And the BB direct bus is nice, I rideshared there to save time but bused back.)

Glad you had a great trip. Any comments on which buildings were being refurbished while you were there?

Any updates on the refurb progress? Is there a website tracking it? We're possibly heading down late July. I like the current decor from the previous refurb so I'm not against that, but if those are rundown....

If they are moving fast on the refurb maybe I can request that building.
We checked in yesterday afternoon for a quick two night stay before a cruise out of Port Canaveral(not Disney, unfortunately). Our room was ready when we arrived at the airport, so we decided to try doing direct to room. We rented a car and when we parked in the 50's and 60's lot and got to the sidewalk outside 50's buildings 1-3 and the 60's buildings, we saw signs for refurbs happening. The elevator in building 4 had a lot of people working on it at the time, specifically. It was a washout last night with the rain so after dinner we came back to our room and settled in for the night but when we are out and about today I will keep my eyes open for updates.

Thank you for the update! That's a lot of buidings you mention. 1-3, 4, 5, and 6. Any idea which were actually being worked on/refurbed?

Honestly, I'm not sure wer'e super picky this time (although I'll still try for a request :):):) ). Connecting is most important if they can do it (the 5 to 6 in our group are all 18+). Most of our day is in the park with an afternoon break to rest and recoup so we won't be in the room much and we're all very able bodied so can walk if needed but doesn't hurt to try for something just what we want. We're at Pop the first 5 nights then off to a 1 bedroom at Saratoga for the following 3 nights. Praying for good weather.

Thanks so much @bigpinkdaisy for the update. Greatly appreciate you looking around today to let us know which building(s) may be closed. Even if you just mention the large icon that is outside the building (e.g. Tramp, Play-Doh, etc, we will know the building g number.)

Checking in again - heading out to dinner at Steakhouse 71 and hopefully a view of some of the MK fireworks from the Contemporary (back to the rental car so I will check on buildings 1-3 more carefully) but the entire short section of Building 4 - if you look at it as a T on the map, it's the shorter section - the vertical part of the capital T if you will, rather than the horizontal part, if that makes sense - is completely closed off on floors 1-4. We checked all 4 floors to be sure. We are fighting a TON of rain today, so we didn't get around to as much of the resort as I wanted, but our walkthrough overall really only showed Building 4, although with today's holiday, no one was working.
