Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

The Dole whips have been at Pop for about two weeks. My family had them last week, but the CMs are a little confused when you ask for a dole whip. Ask for pineapple soft serve. My DH had a pineapple soft serve sundae, twice. DH tells me you can get the pineapple vanilla swirl, too.

The CMs aren't familiar with the term "dole whip"??? Isn't that the exact term they use at Aloha Isle? That is amusing to me....

Maybe this CM was new and or unfamiliar with them. Idk. There may be some legal/licensing/location reason they can't call it a Dole Whip?

Sorry, wasn't trying to seem snobby, but having been former DVC owners, you can imagine that it might seem a bit different for us going from staying at a DVC resort to a Value. That's all I was saying. I don't have outrageous expectations and I know that any resort at Disney is awesome. So much for this being a "friendly" thread where I could get helpful info and tips. Thanks anyway...

I think the challenge comes in when people come here to a group of people who love Pop and come across like they are lowering their standards to stay at Pop. Every person who goes to Disney works hard and saves to go to Disney, often those staying at the value resorts saving for much longer to afford to stay there so it's the inference that someone is 'settling' this time to stay at Pop rather than a DVC or deluxe that puts people here on edge. Pop is an amazing resort and I hope once you've been there you'll see why people here are so passionate about it!

Oooohhhhh, this makes me *so* happy!!! I don't have a stay booked at Pop, but I will be at AoA in June so I can easily walk over to Pop to get one...or two....or three!

My DD is already hoping she’ll be able to justify having it for breakfast since it’s ‘milk and fruit’. I’m not sure the ice cream area is open for breakfast but you know we’ll be checking!!

More pineapple goodness! I can recreate the pineapple upside cake a la mode from MK at Pop now. With a pineapple soda on the side.

I think the challenge comes in when people come here to a group of people who love Pop and come across like they are lowering their standards to stay at Pop. Every person who goes to Disney works hard and saves to go to Disney, often those staying at the value resorts saving for much longer to afford to stay there so it's the inference that someone is 'settling' this time to stay at Pop rather than a DVC or deluxe that puts people here on edge. Pop is an amazing resort and I hope once you've been there you'll see why people here are so passionate about it!

And another misconception is the fact that some Guests with no "budget restraints" actually PREFER to stay at the Values!

That fact is REALLY hard for some to "wrap their heads around"!lol

POP is full of DISNEY FUN and oh so GROOVY!!!!

LOL....okay thank you, but...I've stayed at Poly and liked Pop better. The food court at Pop is much better and has a nice atmosphere. And walking over to AOA is a perk. The room at Poly was a bit bigger but we weren't planning on dancing in it...LOL. The pool view was nice at Poly but we rarely sat out on our balcony. So I guess it's really just what you may prefer, everyone has different taste and expectations. We love Pop!

I haven't tried the ones with the vanilla swirl, but I love the Citrus Swirl, so I'm thinking I'm going to love the "Pineapple Swirl"!

I haven't tried the ones with the vanilla swirl, but I love the Citrus Swirl, so I'm thinking I'm going to love the "Pineapple Swirl"!

The most amazing ones are at Animal Kingdom ................ with RUM!!!


PS For hardcore fans ........ Disney no longer has the "monopoly/rights" to the real Dole Whip. One of our snack spots in St. Augustine now has REAL ones (credited with the sign) and am sure they are in other tourist spots as well. Same stuff, same machines.
