Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I am arriving at POP Century in just 6 days :flower1: and have an ECV reserved because of a recent knee and ankle injury. I have posted some on the Disabilities Board but was wanting some POP specific advice about using the resort buses. ECV users wait in the regular line to board the buses, correct? Any advice for ECV users at POP would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

My DD uses a wheelchair at Disney, and there is actually a separate "line" if you will. It's closer to where the back of the bus will be when it arrives, and it is marked with a handicapped sign painted on the ground. The driver (if he sees you - sometimes he or she doesn't) will open the rear door first and get you loaded, making sure you're strapped in and settled, then he will open the front door. This ensures you get on and strapped in without others trying to get their seats first.

no towels at the pool you bring them from the room. during the day there are maid carts all over. you can get some from the maid.

All-Star Sports DOES now have Pool Towels,so hopefully POP will have them at some point-time will tell.
wow I did not know that. at any value resort, you can just call housekeeping and ask them to send up extra towels. and you can get them from the carts during the day.
at the moderate resorts, they have towels at the feature pool, but yiou have to bring your room towels to the "quiet" pools. (as far as I know.. it was that way at POR last fall)

Can anyone tell me when the buses start running to MK in the morning? My hubby is not a morning person but I have convinced him to do MK rope drop with me one day on our trip. I just spent 8 hours at an air show with him so I used that as a negotiating opportunity to get my rope drop morning. We had to be up at 5:00 for the air show so I think he can handle one early morning for me. :rotfl: TIA! 24 days and counting!

I'm pretty sure it's at least an hour before park opening.

You could also do an Uber to the CR if you don't want to wait for a bus.

Hopefully the bus boards are working though - I know they're up but not sure if they're operational yet at Pop. It's nice to get an estimate on a bus arrival.

While I don't know the exact answer, It is much earlier than one hour before opening. We are rope drop people (as in we like to be right at the front of the rope drop line!), and during our January stay we took the bus at Pop at around 7 AM ish for a 9 AM MK opening. I have never found the CM's at the WDW resorts to be knowledgeable about early bus times, we just show up early and cross our fingers!

Disney starts buses to the Parks "AROUND" 6:30 AM to cover early ADRs/Tours.

Here is the "first bus time" for Magic Kingdom for one particular morning from a stay at All-Star Sports.:)

Wow that's early! How long of a wait did you have once at MK until opening?

About an hour once we got through bag check. I know we are crazy...but we are early birds, and if we are going to go to all of the trouble to do rope drop we want to be at the front of the line. We enjoy chatting with the CM, we take one last bathroom stop before going in, etc. At the other parks we don't go as early, but at MK for our last two visits we were unable to get FP+ for 7DMT so our only chance to ride it and not have to wait in a long line was to be near front of Rope drop, and it worked out well.

Anyone going to be at Pop September 28-Oct 4? Taking DD and her friend....so they will ditch me at the pool. Haha. My parents going also, but have always thought it would be cool if people from the Dis met up....Petals anyone....lol

Sorry, this might be a little bit off topic, but this is so cool! I haven't been to WDW since 2013; do all resorts (Pop?) have these time boards for the buses now?

Not a question..just a declaration..I LOVE POP!! Just back from a week stay...first time..and now I can say without hesitation POP is my home resort. It was crazy busy, but I loved the kinetic environment and the community feel...it was fantastic. Have a rez booked for the Fall/Halloween..can't wait! :)

I can check-in online now. I have no clue for room preference. We will have two kids 8 and 13. What is the best building, floor etc?

Am I mistaken or did they used to serve ice cream sundaes in a waffle bowl? I thought they made them fresh at the ice cream counter at the side of the food court. I had my heart set on one all day long and when I got there they only had some normal small waffle cones out of a box.

Did you just get standard room? If so, if you want to be close to the front for the food court and buses, I would request 60's Building 5, and an upper floor if you would like less noise. These buildings also flank the Hippy Dippy pool. You could also do 50s building 3 ( also near Bowling Pin pool). There is a map on page 112 or 132 of this thread with preferred rooms marked, so you could look there to see the sections that are or are not standard. We had a great room in 60s building 5 at the end nearest the main building, but we payed for preferred. There are more choices close to front if you have preferred or pool view.

You may also want to choose (or let kids help!) based on the theming in each decade, which you can see in photos on first page of this thread. I would also call and add a request to your reserv., like 60s building 5 near elevator. If you arrive, and they have assigned you a room elsewhere, just politely remind them of the request you noted, and ask if there are any rooms available in that area. We have had good luck with this when our request was not honored, obviously it depends on rooms that are open when you arrive.

Most,if not all,WDW Resorts have the Boards now.

POP has the Boards, but they have not been activated(unless they have been activated very recently).

I think the info on the location of the nearest Publix is out of date. The store on S. International Drive closed up a while ago. So far as I know, the Publix closest to Pop is the new(ish) one at the Water Tower Shoppes in Celebration. It's on the south side of 192, between I-4 and the GreeneWay. I expect to stop in there near the beginning of my late August trip, which will mark my first stay at Pop in nearly a decade.
