Room refurbs will begin in either October or November of this year. (Can't remember which). The order that the refurbishments will take place has not been announced.

Our departure date is in a little over 2 weeks time (although we are visiting the 'darker side' - Universal first for a week).

What's the latest on pool towels and bus boards at the resort like at AS Sports?

Also can you remind me - are irons in the rooms? Seems so long since our last visit.

Yayyy, awesome! Also, I am going to fax to request a room in the 70's section, as close to the main building as possible (my DBF had back surgery last year, so all the walking will be a killer) while I know it is only a request, figured might as well try. Should I request a certain block of room numbers, or just put 70's section close to the food court/transportation if possible? Also, looking at the map,, not sure what room numbers I would request...

Well this is the view from the "Preferred" room I paid extra for...this was the view for the entire day in addition to the LOUD voices of housekeeping and maintenance staff and the electric vehicles constantly roaring by room! This is room #4126 bldg.#4 in the 60ssection! Thank goodness I am checking out and moving to another resort tomorrow! I will say that Pop Century seems empty today only a few people in the pool despite the sun/cloud/rain mix. Food court was empty most of the day as well. Not sure if people leaving due to bad weather which is expected over next few days and maybe others cancelling trips for this week...if Inwas planning a longer stay I would certainly have insisted on another room!image.jpg

can someone who is there now tell me whether they have the handled refillable mugs or not?

Here now, only mugs with no handles. When Inasked CM if there were any mugs with handles he said "no, but a lot of people are complaining about these mugs we have now". I saw a man with one of the mugs with handles and he told me he brought it back with him from a previous trip and had it re-Activated.

Also there are full size cans of bug spray in rooms and I was told smaller cans are available on request.

Thanks for the update on the mugs. I wonder if AoA next door has the handles ones? Cool that the guys old mug was reactivated.

I'm jealous of y'all saying you have 1 week or 2 weeks to go...I have 97 days BUT I am glad that we are in double digits!!!!! This will be my 6th stay at POP. I can't wait to show off this resort to my family. I hope they love it as much as I do!

That's why I prefer the lakeside rooms which are standard. Preferred only guarantees that you will not be too far from the food court. There are many standard rooms that are actually closer to the food court then preferred rooms. The only downside about standard is that you could end up in the 80's or 90's and potentially be much further away.

I'm guessing we would be hard pressed to find the mugs with handles anywhere as all resorts have made the switch.
Yeah :sad1: I had seen the report from Chip&Co that the handled mugs were supposed to be making a return because of complaints, but I haven't seen any reports of it actually happening yet :confused3

Ohh, that's not good. Sorry that you had to deal with that.

Hi,
Apologies that I haven't read through a lot of this thread. I have a question. I'm staying in LM at AOA 11/30-12/4. We get in super late on 11/30 and leave early 12/4, so we really only have 3 full days. I can save $160 total if I switch to POP. It's not a huge savings, but it's something. I've stayed at POP in the 50s section before and liked it. So, does anyone know which rooms/sections are going under refurbishment? Also, does anyone know if Pop Warner kids are staying at POP? Finally, would you switch or stay with AOA?

It has not been identified which rooms will be refurbished first so unfortunately we don't have an answer for that.

It's personal about switching. I've stayed at both AoA LM rooms and Pop. For us it's not worth the additional money to stay at AoA as the walk to AoA across Generation Gap bridge is a short one and allows us to visit AoA and use all except the pools. We choose Pop to save the $. If pools are important to you you may wish to stay at AoA. If you're basically using the room to sleep I'd change to Pop in a heartbeat! We love Pop!!

I switched to POP. My kids will be fine with any pool and swimming in Dec will be a novelty (seeing how we'll be leaving a likely freezing Boston). It looks like pop warner is at all stars, cbr, and cornado.
Thanks!

I doubt it will happen instantly. I'm sure they thought the new style would be well received so they ordered a large quantity of them that they will now need to sell. And they will have to order more with handles (assuming the rumors are true that they're bringing those back). It will be a slow turnover like it was when they went to the handless mugs. It will happen slowly and at different times in different resorts based on inventory. I wouldn't expect to see reports of the handles reappearing for at least a few weeks...at the earliest. But that's just a guess.

I haven't read the info on Chip and Co. Are they planning on offering both with and without handles in the future or only 1? I was one who was looking forward to trying the ones without handles. Since we go in 9 sleeps though I may still get my wish. ;)

I got the impression that they were just going back to the ones with handles. Though just like the last month or so, there's bound to be some cross-over as the current inventory dwindles and the new inventory arrives. I'm thinking that there will still be mugs with no handles when you're there. But again, just a guess.
