Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Hi everyone,

Just booked a room at Pop for end of November. I'm so excited, it's going to be my first trip to WDW :yay:
I'm going to ask for a lakeview room in 60's buildings. As an alternative, I'm thinking 70's or 50's. Is one better than the other (in terms of walk to bus stop and food court, distance to AoA, noise level)?
Congrats! Hope you have a great first trip! ::MickeyMo I think you have picked great, Pop's a great resort. If you have booked a standard, like we always do, then lakeview 60's is great. We've stayed in the 70's and really liked it. Many like the 50's but some of those rooms can be farther than the 70's, so I'd go with 70's for my second choice.

I put my photos of the new-ish Resort Airline Check-In area in Classic Hall. They were working on this area during my visit last summer and I had not come across what the project was -- I figured it was the resulting new Airline Check-In desk similar to the setup at Art of Animation. The old/existing Luggage Assistance desk is still in the porte-cochère.

Pool hours?

I was disappointed that the pool closed at 8:00 during our February trip. During a. December trip few years ago, before the locked fences, I enjoyed relaxing in the pool at 10:00 after a long day walking in th parks.

When will the pools close in summer time?

Thank you for your tip :) I'll put 70's as my 2nd choice, but I really hope I can get 60's.
Yes, I booked standard room, save the money for longer stay :woohoo:

New question with regards to coffee- is there a place to buy a traditional cup of coffee (brewed, not liquid machine) at POP?
Yes they have coffee in the food court but my husband says it tastes very bad. We have resorts mugs so coffee is already paid for and he still won't drink it!

Usually Midnight.

Sticking out my neck on something I am not entirely sure I know, but here goes....

I think the current Joffrey's coffee at Pop and across the resorts is not the liquid machine/coffee concentrate like the old Nescafe was. The big urns dispensing coffee at Pop don't seem to be connected to water sources and are full of (what I assume is) brewed coffee. At All-Star Movies, I've see extra coffee urns places all over the food court nowhere near any water sources.

For comparison, on the Disney cruise ships, certainly the Disney Magic where I have first-hand experience, they are using the Joffreys brand but still using the coffee concentrate method. Those coffee machines are definitely hooked up to water sources where the coffee and the hot water are combined as you dispense the coffee. On my cruise this month, a dispenser wasn't working right and only the coffee concentrate was coming out, no water.

I also don't like the coffee at Disney food courts. I bring my own coffee maker (small single cup travel one).

Whew..ok. One more question (deciding between POP or BWI for 1 night on Black Friday)-

Is it a possibility that a bus will be full on crowded dates, and that you may have to wait a long time for another to/from the parks?
you could also take a taxi Way less than $400.

Great thread and a wealth of info. Pretty much read every page over the week and it helped in the decision making of where we would stay.
So Pop it is all booked and paid for.
Preferred room
Checking in on 18th of December
Check out 25th of Jan

Because of the long stay had to book 2 times but disney were great and said we wouldnt have to swap rooms half way through the stay.

No travel agent out here in Australia could match Disney direct and it was good discount from booking direct through Disney.
Cant wait.

We are booked for the 1st time at Pop for September 14-21, 2016. We'very been to disney many times in the past. We are celebrating my birthday and going to the Halloween party for the first time. We have a preferred room and on the dining plan. Any advice?

Since Pop has its own dedicated bus service, could someone tell me how long it typically takes to go from Pop to MK via bus? :flower1: How much travel time should we account for?

We have an 8am PPO breakfast at BOG so I wanted to make sure we got there around 7:30 for bag check and hopefully into the park by 7:45.

:thanks:

Correct me if I'm wrong someone....but it seems like 15-20 minutes tops to MK from Pop. Always feels the furthest if all of them. Enjoy.

You'll want to be at the bus stop well before 7am.....closer to 6:30am if you want to get there early.
