Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Do studios in the Poly Longhouses have pack and plays in them or do you have to request them? Finding mixed answers on this.
In the past we’ve been able to request. They have plenty of room to put them in. You can call and add and/or add a crib when doing the online check in.

Does the Island Tower have a place to store luggage on arrival/departure days? Or is this something that is still only available at the Great Ceremonial House?

DH tried the Wailulu bar & grill at the island tower. It is not QS (it’s TS?). He said it was really really good. Brought back the chocolate banana mousse and I would highly recommend that.

The pool and splash area are restricted to island tower guests only.

Interesting...I thought the speculation was that Poly hotel guests would have access to the Island Tower pool as well.

Anyone know if the Island Tower gym is open to Poly hotel guests?

Thanks!

The Signage at the pool and splash pad say otherwise. How did he confirm this or is this what he was told by a CM? It also mentions a guest load off 100 persons. The hours are 7 AM - 11 PM and no lifeguards on are on duty.

ETA: add splash pad sign.

When bell services came to collect our things they asked us where we wanted our things kept: at the tower or sent to the GCH. We knew we were taking an uber to the airport so we asked them to send it GCH since uber pickups aren’t possible at the tower right now (maybe never?). LSS, seems they have storage at both and can transfer between them for you.

That is really strange. Why wouldn't the allow uber pickups at the tower?
I believe it’s because it’s a manual check in and there’s no guard at the front to open the gate so they won’t easily be able to get in pick you up. You need to scan a magic band/key card/phone to open the gate. You can get dropped off there as long you have a reservation (and are checked in) since you’re in the car with them but pickups will be trickier.

They can probably use the call button to speak to someone who can open it from inside but I doubt many Uber drivers or guests will realize they can do that. I’m sure security won’t want that to be regular thing either. Or you can have the uber driver wait outside the gate and you can walk over to them but idk if that will be dangerous or cause traffic flow problems.

Yeah, Lyft has the right programming and note as such given their relationship with Disney. So many weird operational situations with the separate entrance and decision to not have a staffed gate.

Oh that’s right you mentioned Lyft noting pickup and drop off at the tower. Good to know about Minnie Van access. It does let you do drop offs with Lyft though, right?

So there isn’t a guard at the tower? I know at other hotels you can’t go in the side to scan your magic band until after you’ve checked in it won’t open so do we need to go to the main building gate for our first day?

Yes, it will let you set it as a drop-off - but you better be a guest and have access to your magic band/room key card to get past the gate.

I can see an occasional non-guest setting Island Tower as the drop off, not being able to get past the gate, and hopping out right there - exactly what Disney likely doesn't want.

Does Mears drop off at the Tower or just the GCH?

Yeah, I don't think that is correct - the pools are open to all Poly guests.
No my DH asked as we have a huge Moana fan and are staying at the Poly deluxe suites. They clearly stated Only the island tower guests have access to the cove pool and Moana splash pad. It could be the CM was wrong but we did specify we were poly guests (hence the gym access comment).

We can test it on our pool day 12/29 (or maybe even tonight after our sleigh ride).

Enjoy your Ft. Wilderness Sleigh ride and we look forward to your first hand experiences using the Facilities at the new Island tower.

So far that CM is 100% incorrect based on the Signage at the Fitness center (Island Tower Guests only), and the Cove pool and Moana's Water play area are for Polynesian Resort Guests.

The CM was incorrect. First try I got a red light and second try got a green light and the gate opened (maybe someone verified and activated?) to the Cove pool.

The freestyle soda machine has a huge variety of sodas including sugar free Fanta (works for regular poly guests).
