Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Just to add to the comments from @GADisneyDad14, there are 2, two-story Terrace Garden spaces on the 4th floor that overlook the Seven Seas Lagoon. It is still not clear what the Fireworks view will actually be due to the orientation of the building and how many guests are able to stand right at the railing vs the depth of the space.

I would not be very concerned about the general public looking to access the space but Guests staying in the Tower having extra "visitors" beyond the guests on the reservation.

ETA: still trying to use all my words...

Dave
All Ears put up their Island Tower video and it was pointed out 2 of the 4 terraces have fireworks views. Forgive me for not recalling their names. But Quincy watched HEA from both and said one of them had a better view than the other and was much more popular as a result.

With respect I think all that needs to happen for this to be an issue is some idiot making a tiktok about a “hack to get a great fireworks view”. And I would bet it’s more likely than not. That’s just the era we’re in now, sadly.

It’s been a long time since I’ve stayed an MK resort, but I remember you had to scan your resort room key to enter your outer building? Am I remembering that wrong? Is there any reason for non-guests to even have access to the tower? Polynesian hotel guests, yes, for use of the amenities but that would cut down on the inevitable unnecessary traffic and people trying to use the terraces.

Pretty sure that would be the first time people are not permitted access to a resort lobby... Plus the new Bar & Grill is available for everyone.

That can't be an option I am with you @Dug720. The entrance to Wailulu Bar & Grill is off the lobby. Yes you could enter the bar area and walk into the seating area of the restaurant and to the front entrance but Disney is not going to do that.

Dave

Did you happen to walk just past the elevator alcove? There should be stairs at your next left headed toward the Villas section according the building plans. Are those what you indicating as the emergency staircases?

There are no Open staircases.

ETA: add details on the stairs...

Dave
I did not notice stair access near the elevators, however I did see a video with a tour and saw it then. It truly is tucked behind the elevators and so didn’t stand out to us.

Just an FYI heard the boat horns at 11:30 pm and then again at 5:30 am. So bring ear plugs (did but our room neighbor had his kids playing on luggage cart which shook my pull down bed and woke me up at 12:00 am. I called the front desk after it happened 4 times in an hour and I hear a child screaming (probably got hurt). I did hear them knock the door after they heard the noise and have them take the cart out.

Interesting that the DVC "View Room Details" pop-up page doesn't mention a washer/dryer in the 1 & 2 BR's, but the videos above clearly show them. I was starting to worry.

Has anyone timed the walk from the new poly tower to TTC? I’m wondering for our Epcot day would it be better to walk over there to get the monorail to Epcot or take the resort monorail around and then switch? We’ll have two little kids with us

It's not a bad walk. But with two little one's I'd take the monorail instead and conserve energy for the parks

Little enough for a double stroller? Game changer..especially for epcot. Many a trip where they hit the wall at around Germany and plopped their little butts down into the double stroller..and them it became an adults trip of sorts the last hour or so. The only drawback was getting that thing into the monorail after closing...but it was an acceptable tradeoff..miss those days. Ps happy holidays all!

Yes! 1 and 4 years old. We actually are doing two single strollers found it easier to maneuver them instead of a big stroller.

We have a Joovy caboose ultralight sit and stand. It folds up like a single stroller. Easy to maneuver and its handles are higher (important for taller folks vs being hunched. Our 8 year old uses it for breaks but it does get hard to push now that he is older (weight limit is 45lbs per seat. We took the front tray off and our 5 year old sits upfront.

Got the popcorn bucket at the popcorn cart near Cinderella’s castle. The line was long took about 25 mins. It’s sold out at other popcorn carts. It’s probably going to sell out today.

Just took the bus from poly to AK on deluxe extended hours day. We were at the stop at 3:35. It arrived 3:45 but we got stuck behind a sea of buses at the Grand Floridian (possibly multiple wheelchair users on different buses). It’s 4:28 pm and we just started from the Grand. Won’t get into AK until another 15 mins. On busy days do not take the bus I suppose (or take monorail to GF and then get on a bus).

How busy was the Poly bus stop? Enjoy your EEH at AK.

Dave
Poly wasn’t busy at all. The bus was half full. People got antsy and the driver did let people off on a walkway instead of the bus stop at the Grand.

Do studios in the Poly Longhouses have pack and plays in them or do you have to request them? Finding mixed answers on this.
