Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Any room request suggestions for a garden view club level room?

Any suggestions for a split stay coming from Beach Club on Sunday, May 1st? I have reservations for MK that day. What time would you make the switch? We have the day "off" the day before, so hopefully we will be rested, but it may just mean we stay up late at Disney Springs?! Ha. Where do we leave our luggage? Could we have breakfast at the CL lounge if we get there early enough? Or is that tacky?

Cast of characters is myself, husband, DS 17, DS 14, DD 11.

Thank you!

Not tacky at all. Unless you’re in a rush to get to the parks, I’d casually make your way over to Poly, drop your bags off at Bell Services out front (as your room likely won’t be ready yet), check in CL, enjoy breakfast in the lounge (and maybe a mimosa if inclined), then head about your day at MK (or just chill around Poly) while you wait for your room to be ready. Timing is really up to you - breakfast service starts at 7am and you can check-in any time. Depending on how late you like to sleep you may want to aim for 9’ish and maybe avoid some of the typical Poly CL breakfast rush, but that’s splitting hairs a bit.

As for room requests with a GVCL category - third floor rooms have a balcony, first floor rooms have a patio, second floor rooms don’t have an outdoor space… so if this were me, I’d request third floor first priority, first floor second priority. Since you’re staying CL you can send that request in via: disney.signature.services@disneyworld.com

Hawaii is sort of a long longhouse, but it’s not that long so in my opinion it doesn’t really matter where you are on the hallway - so that’s why I limit the requests to the floor. A case could be made that rooms further away from the lounge will be marginally quieter as you get less foot traffic the further you go “down the hall” away from the lounge, but to me that’s relatively minor in the Poly CL/Hawaii longhouse experience.

Sorry if any of that is repetitive to what you already know, but hope it helps!

I was coming to ask this question!
Follow up: How early before park open should you go get on the monorail? It starts running an hour before park open? So walk over an hour and fifteen minutes before? Extra half hour? Extra 45 minutes?
I was at poly in December and GF a few times since Covid. For MK 9A with EE 8:30, dd and I would head for mono around 8am. They come pretty quick . 7:30-45 is better if you want 7dmt. We head for SM and not had any issues getting on at RD.
We also had several stays from CR/BLT. They hold at gate until it gets full and then let you in and hold at hub. So you don’t really have to worry. We walked in at 8:30 once or twice and still got on lots of rides that morning,

Excited to be returning to the Poly in three weeks! My waitlist request came through on DVC, so this will be my first time staying in one of those longhouses. My nieces, a friend and I are all running the SS races, and I'm really looking forward to being back at my favorite resort :lovestruc

What are the current Lava Pool hours right now? Do we get a wristband from Cast Members like at BCV, or is it just tap your magicband and go through the gate?

Current feature pool hours property wide are 10am-10pm. Disney stuck to some pretty long pool hours through the winter season, which was nice to see!

Thanks

I was hoping they went back 10 11PM as in the (now distant) past now that we are at spring break and approaching the hot months.

Well... my dream Poly wedding happened on Tuesday at Luau Pointe. The rain held off just long enough for us to say "I do". Ukelele player was amazing... highly recommend getting married at the Polynesian if you love it as much as we do!!!

Has anyone rented the lava pool one poolside patio? It’s just a table w chairs but was wondering if people had thoughts.
I have rented both the lava pool and the oasis pool ones. There is NOT a lot of shade throughout the day at the lava pool one - there is a stationary umbrella, so the amount of sun shifts as the sun moves, and at one point in the day there was almost no shade at all when we were there - but it is still a very nice seating area. I believe they get a lot of complaints about the lack of shade, since the person who booked it for me warned me about it many times. We prefer the oasis pool patios, but then again we like both pools equally, so it isn’t a loss for us to be over there.

Does the Hawaii building have 2 elevators? One on each end of the building? And if so will be fit an ECV. Thanks

Just one elevator on the lounge end of the building. There are also stairwells on both ends. The elevator is a decent size and easily fits one and possibly 2 ECVs depending on the type (but most would probably opt to go one ECV at a time).
