If you go at opening you'll be fine. If you wait, you're taking a risk. There have been days where they've closed at midnight and refused to add me to the list at 9pm because it was too long.
So looking forward to our upcoming stay at the Poly! I have a couple transportation related questions for people who have stayed there recently. IYO, What is the fastest method to get to MK for early theme park entry - ferry, monorail or walking? How has the bus service to AK been lately? Hoping to take advantage of early theme park entry there too and would like to be at the front of the crowd if possible.
Hi,
Great thread!
Do they no longer do the hula dancing lessons? We stayed there, holy cow at least 15 years ago. It was around 3 pm and we were led by a beautiful Hawaiian lady and taught how to do their traditional dance. It was a FABULOUS experience...
So sad not to see it on there!
You are very welcome. As it happens, we stayed at CBR on our honeymoon (lots of years ago). It is still a favorite. If we weren’t staying in a deluxe we would pick CBR without hesitation.
This was my Christmas present from my wife. On our November trip we stayed at the Polynesian, I saw it in the BouTiki shop and jokingly said I must have this. She must have snuck back to buy it and had it shipped home. Now to figure out where to put it. It’s awesome!

I had no trouble getting in and getting a bar spot at Trader Sam's by going early, although I did have to get on the waiting list and wait for a text. I was also able to order successfully from the outside window. I don't recommend getting the Dole Whip with rum at the other take-out window... they just give you a little bit of Dole Whip around the outside of a cup and then hand you a shot of Parrot Bay rum to pour into the middle of it, I guess?

I think the monorail is the fastest for getting there, assuming it is running. I had several times this past week when it was halted for 15-20 minutes, but it seemed to be always working in the morning. I was at MK one night and they shut down the monorail and the ferries for some reason, so they were using busses to get people to the MK resorts and TTC.

Glad to hear it! When you've been inside many times, the outside patio is really nice! No wait and same great cocktails. In the beforetimes, there would be live music out there sometimes at night.
The dole whip with rum is pretty sad, unfortunately. Sounds like that hasn't changed since I last got one
Arriving tomorrow at 11 AM for a week long solo trip. Starting on the DVC side, then moving to a Moana room on the hotel side. I will be sure to post plenty of pictures here.
I’m a little concerned about our driver being able to find the resort. I have never traveled during Marathon Weekend but I’m hoping most of the road closures are finished by 11 AM.
View from room 1120 (Pago Pago, first floor, handicap accessible). Not a bad view. Just wish I had a higher floor. Front desk said the resort is 100% booked so no chance of moving.
Is it true that if you're staying at the Poly and you're going to MK, they check your bags before you get on the monorail so that you don't have to get it checked when you get to the park?

Yes, you’re correct!! You’ll walk through the scanner prior to entering the monorail at Poly. When you exit the monorail, you walk right to the tap styles at MK, as well as Epcot (if you are going there.). Enjoy!
