Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Thanks! We’ll be there in January with ds and I was hoping to take a nice walk from poly to mk depending on weather
For years dd and I do the walkway. January, March, July , October, we love it! Lol one time we rolled out bags from poly to gf in August! Lol don’t do that I got hot!

So my stay last year was on rented points so perhaps it was a coincidence I got upper floor Tokelau near the room I requested?
When checking in I went to the front desk at the GCH and they showed me which rooms were available so there appears to be flexibility.

We booked through a rental company
We booked through the DVC rental store for our trip in Feb and we were told we could ask to make a request and the owner could make them in our behalf. I am waiting a little bit till we make them (more like I feel bad asking them to make a a request for a specific building) but I am planning on it later this year.

Yes. This was the other company. Wasn’t sure I could mention names. They did write down preferences

Touringplans has a service where you can request a specific room number. It is hit or miss...I got the building and the floor but just not the room. I guess it was booked.

This might be a service they provide to subscribers however.

...and keep in mind that view was from the staircase outside my room.

Room 3914 seems to be the one worth requesting however IMO.

This is from the balcony of 2911- so it would be one floor below 3914 and a couple rooms closer to the water. poly2911.jpg

That’s who we rented through also for our January trip. It seems a little early to request so I’ll probably wait until a little closer. Do you know who we contact?

The member can make the request through member services. Even though I’m a DVC member and a tech saavy millennial, I fax in my room requests old school style. I’m afraid to change my method since it always works. LOL. If you just look up the Poly fax # I just send in a letter requesting a room and I am sweet as honey in my letter. 🙃

I have the email back on my home computer but I want to say you email the company and they will forward the request to the owner. (And can I just say how grateful I am to the owner who rented their points. It's our first time renting them and first time at the Poly. Just eternally grateful)

For what it’s worth, touring plans gave the the exact floor just two room numbers over I requested for my first hotel and the same room number just one floor down on the second hotel. I’ve been very lucky with them and I think it’s worth the year fee if going to Disney. The lines app is also great

highly recommend using the room request feature for poly

We’re exactly the same! First time renting and first time being at the poly. We wouldn’t be able to afford it otherwise so we are beyond excited. Can’t wait to be at our first monorail resort! I’ll have to email them and see what they say

Would we be better off putting a certain building as our preference or being more specific with floor/room number?

Thank you so much for this very detailed post. It is most helpful.

We are staying at the Poly for the first time in late August in a Bungalow. We cannot wait! Of course there is a little disappointment that we won’t get the full Poly experience - monorail, Spirit of Aloha show, character breakfast with interaction - but I’m glad to see most things reopening at the resort.

I rented through them and the owner was great too. Covid hit- and this company really worked with me.

Probably the building first- and then elaborate. In my last request I wrote "We would prefer an upper level room in Tokelau, preferably on the north end of the Oasis pool side. In 2019 we stayed in room 2911 and it was the BEST room we have ever stayed in!"

It’s always good to list your room requests in order of priority. 👍

Has anyone dined at Ohana for dinner since it has re-opened? Just curious to hear feedback!

There are a few threads on the restaurant board on this topic.. Reviews are all over the place!🤷‍♀️

Thanks! Found it and checked out the posts! We still have two weeks to go so for now I guess we will just take our chances and report back. Hopefully, we still like it. 🤞
