Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

We are in a standard view studio September 6-12. We just got the email last Friday that we were being moved. I guess I am okay with it- as long as I get a balcony. I am already giving up a second bathroom and a microwave, and all DVC villas have a balcony. We shall see...

I thought of another question. :) I see that you're a Poly owner. Is this a room you booked at 11 months? I'm curious if they're moving people based on the time they booked the trip or something else? (My thinking is that they would move people who booked more recently! We also own at Poly, but booked our next stay on our BLT points.)

Do 2nd floor DVC Villas have a balcony? I thought all the 2nd floor rooms (in every building) only had the fake balcony. Not being snarky- truly want to know for my upcoming trip. If so, I will be fine with a 2nd floor (I would not prefer one otherwise)

Yes. Even 2nd floor DVC studios have balconies. I was on the 2nd floor in Moorea last month, and we used the balcony a lot!

The three DVC longhouses were built after the original buildings and all have balconies on the second and third floors, patios on the first. The hotel-side longhouses (with the exception of the Tonga Suites longhouse) only have patios on the first floor, balconies on the third floor, and no balconies on the second floor - only the Juliet-style railing right up against the sliding door.

Yes, we did book at 11 months.

Same. I really like having my coffee on an actual balcony in the morning. Or drinks at night. The fake balcony is meh for me. And first floor rooms are not my favorite. Never guaranteed of course- but no harm in asking.

Hi, we have a rescheduled trip from April 2020 to April 2022 and I’m a bit out of the loop about it. The original trip had us staying in a suite but the new trip is for a standard room. Does the standard room require our two kids to share a bed or is there an extra sleeping alcove for one of them? And will it have a balcony unless on 2nd floor? I haven’t been to Disney since it was a teenager and have never stayed on property, so I’m pretty out of the loop! I’m also generally hesitating on this trip due to the cost (wondering if I should stay off property and do just a couple of Disney days and a couple of universal days) but that’s a separate issue! Although if someone wants to hype up why staying 5 nights at the Poly is worth it, would be glad to hear it, haha! Thanks!

I always say the Poly is worth it! With 5 nights, you can enjoy it all!

I assume you have a hotel reservation? Not DVC cash or via points rental? Poly hotel rooms (other than the few King bed rooms) have two queens and a fold-over couch, so sleep 5 total. With two kids that don’t want to share a bed, one can sleep in a bed and one on the pull-over couch. Although inevitably with my family of four I end up sharing a bed with my son and DW with our DD. Yay vacation. :rolleyes2

What view category did you book?

So today was our ADR day for our Poly stay and I called the recreation line exactly at 7am to book an Oasis Patio for our Boo Bash day only to have a 2 hour wait. I emailed our TA instead and she was was able to book it. It was only $58 for the full day on 10/12.

I'm seeing a lot of DVC villa room changes creeping up to my stay in September. No email from Disney yet about having to change rooms. I am curious if they'll end up being done the monorail station by the 50th. Seems like the work is taking a while (which makes sense for how extensive it is).

Silly question- how do I know if I booked hotel side or DVC side if I booked directly through Disney? Last time we stayed (booked through Disney), we were in a DVC room. I assumed that all of the rooms that sleep 5+ are DVC, but are there regular rooms also?

ETA-never mind, just realized they have separate listings. I booked the hotel this time.

Villa (DVC) bookings will also say “Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows” as the resort on the various confirmation e-mails and such. Hotel side reservations will say “Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.”

Another quick question: best way from Wilderness Lodge back to the Polynesian? Boats to MK, then boat to Poly, or is there a bus from WL to the TTC? Thanks.

The bus won't go to the TTC, just to MK or Epcot, so double-boating it is your best bet.

Is the monorail from the TTC the only way to get to Epcot or are they also running busses from the Poly?

We are there next week so I guess we’ll find out then. Do you think the busses will stop once the monorail opens at the Poly?

That is the plan. Buses from GF and CR to Epcot were scheduled to end July 24-25 (I assume they did, not seen any reports).
