I feel like if I was staying at a bungalow I wouldn't leave or else I would think I'm not be getting my money's worth.

It's not like you would be using your soaker pool, watching Wishes, or doing anything but hunkering down. Everyone's already not getting their money's worth these next two days. Safety first.

Hi everyone. I am planning a trip in February for my 10th anniversary. My husband and daughter have never been to wdw. I am trying to choose poly or contemporary. I keep reading reviews on other sites about how dated and run down the rooms and buildings are at the Poly. Can I get some real advice and thoughts on that?

We didn't think so at all. We had 2 rooms for 10 days last month. They were just recently refurbed, I can't imagine how anyone could say the rooms are dated??

Well that's what I thought! That they were recently redone, how bad could it have gotten..

Actually, the last room refurbishment of the non-DVC longhouses was 2013. So it is 3 years, of constant use.

Hmm ok so maybe some rooms, buildings, etc are showing some wear. I guess the complaints I've seen were saying that it shouldn't be for the price.

You'll see that at any WDW resort. There's a sense that for $400/600/night, it should be a luxury hotel. And on the whole, Disney Deluxe isn't a luxury hotel and would not be considered such in any major metro area. With Deluxe, you're generally paying for a somewhat larger room in a better location.

It's about expectations.

Been quite a while since I have had time to post...but we had such a very nice stay at the Poly this summer that I wanted to share some info about our trip....I have to say..Poly in the summer...or hotter months is absolutely perfect! :lovestruc We really had a magical stay....

Will be back to share some pics..and and info about what we really liked best this beautiful and tropical resort ....

I'd have to agree with reviews that comment on the rooms and buildings being a little worn. We stayed in Fiji in August, and although we loved our stay, and Fiji itself, I have to say that it's ready for some work.

A few things come to mind...one was when on our arrival day DS16 went for a stroll to look around while we waited for our luggage. He stepped out onto the top landing of the stairs and his foot went through one of the boards. We called a manager who came immediately to have a look. I pointed out the board next to it which looked like it was next to go. Both were replaced and painted within the hour. One other thing was the whole row of outlets on the desk which were so loose they wouldn't hold our chargers in firmly to keep a consistent charge on our devices. The doors to the fridge were very crooked and wouldn't close properly and the bottom screws of the closet door were missing, so the door wouldn't swing correctly. One last thing, which was the "most bothersome" was the old smell in the room.

We thoroughly enjoyed our second Poly visit, but having stayed in one of the newly completed studios the year before, we could really see the need for work on Fiji, at least. That said, I'd return in a heartbeat.

Thanks for that input. That's what I'm looking for..is it bad enough to not be considered again until refurbished or just minor things. I want clean rooms..that's where I draw the line.

Thanks that's what I'm looking for..if it's minor things or something that will make you think twice about staying there. My main thing is cleanliness. I do expect that much!

Hi I'm new here but not to WDW. First time staying at Poly though! :dogdance: My daughter has an early appt at BBB at Cinderella's Castle at 820 one morning- very exciting but how do we get from Poly to MK so early? MK opens at 9 am that morning. THANK YOU!

36 days ...

Did you get prices for July, 2017? If you don't mind me asking, what is the price/night?

Even if you only stay at the Poly for two or three nights it's better than not staying there at all.
Yes the last week of July 2017 and the price is 373.00 a night :( I agree about the 2 or 3 nights. We may have to stay at a moderate the other nights and just stay at the Poly for 3 or wait for the labor day deal. I'm not sure I want to go in August after watching this hurricane come in. This will be the second one to hit Florida this year :(

That is our plan for the one night that we will be in the bungalow.party:
We are just going to enjoy the amenities at the Polynesian.

if you go to www.tikimanpages.com Steve has each longhouse by floor maps. You can see where the HA rooms are.

The floorpans also show which rooms are connecting.

Also there are elevators in each building and all floors have a balcony or patio :)

Came back to add one. Sorry so large but gives you idea.

Thanks for the floor layout. Is South or North side facing the MK?

Look at a Poly Map, Moorea, Pago Pago and Tokelau are the 3 DVC buildings. If std view all of Tokelau and Pago and the backside of Moorea will be where you will be placed. It is so much easier with a map. I actually look at the disney map and then I google and zoom in too. It is very helpful.

The disney hotel map is on disney site,on this site and findable by googling it and looking at images .Tikiman also has maps. It is also good to do before a trip to get your bearings.

The other 2 buildings floor plans are also posted in the DVC section on the top of the tikiman site. Not all have that cute lobby in the center.

NOTE: i am not good with north and south bearings lol I need to see a map and learn it first. My kids laugh at my "directional impairdness"! But I am getting better by using maps as my friend:)
