Hi I'm new here but not to WDW. First time staying at Poly though! :dogdance: My daughter has an early appt at BBB at Cinderella's Castle at 820 one morning- very exciting but how do we get from Poly to MK so early? MK opens at 9 am that morning. THANK YOU!

Welcome to the Poly thread :).

My guess is the monorail would be running, but I can't say for sure as there has been modified schedules lately. Hopefully others who have been there recently or are there now will be able to give some suggestions. Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the Poly :wizard:.

Been quite a while since I have had time to post...but we had such a very nice stay at the Poly this summer that I wanted to share some info about our trip....I have to say..Poly in the summer...or hotter months is absolutely perfect! :lovestruc We really had a magical stay....

Will be back to share some pics..and and info about what we really liked best this beautiful and tropical resort ....

Glad you had a great trip :wizard:.

That is our plan for the one night that we will be in the bungalow.party:
We are just going to enjoy the amenities at the Polynesian.

I think that's a great plan :thumbsup2.

9 days to go and I feel completely unprepared!

That's how it always goes, isn't it? 3 weeks - Oh I have plenty of time! No worries! 1 week - OMG ALL THE THINGS.

This is how I always feel, too ;).

I'm here right now in Fiji. I just love the 3rd floor balcony overlooking the marina. I'm so very glad that the hurricane is not as bad as they expected! Our flight home has been canceled. Instead of heading home Saturday, we now fly home on Monday. We are currently waiting to hear back on where we will be staying Saturday and Sunday night. We had a great day yesterday! We had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and then went shopping at DS. We came back and got in line for the Hitchhiking Ghost mug at Trader Sam's. We had a great time in line and made some new friends who are locals and cast members. It made waiting in line a lot of fun! We hung out in the bar for a while, got our mugs, and had dinner at Kona.

Sounds like you had an awesome day and your room is in a great location. So happy for you :)

Can you.please tell me what kind of a room you booked to get that view.

Thanks so much!

I booked a standard view and in the online checkin I requested balcony as my first option and Fiji as my second option. Days later, they made a change to the checkin options and my building request was gone. I was really happy to find out that we had been placed in Fiji!

Hi everyone. I am planning a trip in February for my 10th anniversary. My husband and daughter have never been to wdw. I am trying to choose poly or contemporary. I keep reading reviews on other sites about how dated and run down the rooms and buildings are at the Poly. Can I get some real advice and thoughts on that?

We actually had two stays at the Poly this summer...two different rooms..and got to enjoy the grounds and the GCH too and the pools...and I would have to say this was not our experience at all....I was actually very surprised ..considering that the Poly is such a popular place not just for hotel guests but a popular destination for just visiting...how well kept that everything is...and not worn looking at all...taking into consideration that this resort opened in 1971 (as has the CR)...even the common areas in the GCH were lovely....YMMV..but that was our personal experience during our recent stays....:thumbsup2

I really need to get some pictures posted....::yes::

Congrats on your 10th anniversary! The CR is a very cool resort also....you really can't go wrong with either....but..if you are concerned about the Poly seeming worn in making a decision....I don't think its a worry at all.....

Have a great trip!

Monorail as well as water launches should be running....at check in you should receive a packet the will give you the operating schedule of the monorail....and that will be the most current info... Enjoy your first Poly stay! Bet it won't be your last! :goodvibes

Yes the last week of July 2017 and the price is 373.00 a night :( I agree about the 2 or 3 nights. We may have to stay at a moderate the other nights and just stay at the Poly for 3 or wait for the labor day deal. I'm not sure I want to go in August after watching this hurricane come in. This will be the second one to hit Florida this year :(

We have a had a few August stays...and beside the general afternoon shower...the weather has been fine...well...hotter that hot...lol...but fine..actually...I found the Poly and its tripical vibe and two pools to be perfect for a summer visit....:thumbsup2

So glad to hear you had a magical stay at Poly! I have to agree about a summer stay at Poly :cloud9:.
Looking forward to hearing more about your stay!

Thanks TJA :goodvibes..I will def be back to share more about our stay..and pics too...I know that you are a huge Poly fan..and while I enjoyed our first stay which was during a winter trip.... after this past summer trip..I truly "get it"...and we will be back....:lovestruc This GF gal...has deginitely been spreading her Disney wings...lol!!!!

I've always found Poly to be clean. Mousekeeping does a great job. We've stayed in Hawaii CL the past few years and the rooms are wonderfully updated. We had an issue with a leak in the bathroom our last night (Looked like a pipe burst in the ceiling) so they moved us to a room on the MK view side on the same floor right away. It truly was magical!pixiedust:

Thanks so much! I'm very excited! Feb can't come soon enough! I'm sticking with the Poly. My 8 yo has her heart set on it. We were also married in Hawaii and so that's why I really was thinking the Poly would be a perfect anniversary setting!
Side question..if I booked through Disney but a TA can beat their price..can I still keep my adrs even if theyou are tied to my dining plan I am holding them with through Disney?

Thanks so much! I'm not going to worry about it anymore. I'll be in DW in February and not the frozen Midwest! Thank you all for your observations!

Yes. ADRs are actually independent of your resort stay, save the booking window.

Can I ask what TA you used?

Unless you get a quote from an agency that offers "group pricing" the rates provided by Disney or Disney TA's are identical. If you are looking at a group rate, in many cases the dining plan cannot be added to the reservation, so you may have an issue with a prepaid ADR that was held by your dining plan should you cancel. I'd recommend booking the new trip first, cancelling and rebooking the dining reservation, and then cancelling the existing resort reservation. A phone CM could likely move the ADR from DDP hold to a CC payment.

Just wanted to add on to the other replies above. Your first option is usually the monorail but you have to pay VERY close attention to the start times as they vary by the day. For example, here are the RESORT monorail start times for the week of 9/25-10/1:

Sun/Thurs/Fri/Sat - 7AM
Mon/Tues/Wed - 8:30AM

These hours WILL/CAN change so you need to always check the official Times Guide given out the week covering your exact date. This should be in your welcome packet or available at the front desk. They are also usually posted here too: http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/p/weekly-walt-disney-world-times-guides.html

I don't really trust CMs when it comes to monorail hours if you ask them, grab the guide and keep it in your pocket the whole trip. :-)

The boat would be your second option if the monorail is not running early enough to get to your BBB appointment.

Not sure if they let BBB appointments in the park the same as pre-park opening dining reservations? If so, they'll let you in the MK around 7:45ish.

Have fun!

Arriving at WDW tomorrow:wave::cheer2:
Super excited!!party:
Staying at the Polynesian in a bungalow for one night. We snagged a last minute cancellation.
We are DVC members and I know that this was a LOT of points, I figure that we'll never get another chance to stay there.
Then we are off to the Boardwalk for one night and finally the Grand Floridian.
Lots of resort hopping, but glad to be able to get these resorts for a last minute planned vacation.

Very happy that Matthew is off to sea.
Thoughts and prayers to those still affected by this storm.
