We are checking in on July 31 and celebrating my daughter's birthday while there (Aug. 4th). Should I call and make sure it's noted on our reservation? I know there are no guarantees we will receive any pixie dust. Any benefits to mentioning it before we arrive or should I just wait until check in?

I would definitely call and have it added to your reservation :cake:

In the current choices for non-DVC theme park view, I probably wouldn't pay for it myself unless I was willing to go whole hog and get the CL theme park view in Hawaii. Those rooms have gotten super super overpriced though, $1000 a night sometimes. But maybe if it was my first and only time or something like that, it might help make the experience. I don't think any regular hotel room is worth that much money, but I suppose if it was once in a lifetime or something.

Hi everyone. Just got back from my weekend at POLY and WOW!! We had such a great time. We did not do the parks this time...we just enjoyed the resort amenities and took a trip to Disney Springs. It was very relaxing, the CM's are awesome, I can see why you all rave about them. I want to try all the Disney resorts and so far, this ranks on the top. We did visit GF for Cinderella's dinner and CR-just to visit and I see a GF stay in the future. I was not impressed with CR except my DD did enjoy some time in the arcade.

Glad you had a great weekend and enjoyed your first Poly stay :).

Sorry I have another question...are there plenty of outlets in the standard rooms. We will need to charge 4-5 devices. Some people recommend bringing power strips with them to WDW. Is that necessary at Poly?

You can find 4-5 outlets around the room, but they aren't in convenient modern locations such as a table, nightstand, or lamps like in a lot of newer hotels. A power strip would be easier to have everything in one place, although the day I bring a power strip on vacation.... (easy for me to say with kids my age). An observation - might just be the rooms I've stayed in but some Poly outlets are really, really loose, I guess given age. I have trouble getting a standard iPhone/iPad charger to stay in...they'll fall out at the slighted tug.

No, it's not just you! We always have trouble at Poly getting our things to charge because the outlets are so loose! In fact, once we woke up and none of our Iphones had a charge even though we plugged all of them in before bed. So when we stay at Poly, we try to charge our things before bed so we can keep checking them to be sure they are charging.

HI yes, as Floridians, we can go up often. July in Florida is pretty hot so I thought a resort stay would be a nice way to just get away for the weekend without having to wait on those long lines for the rides. We mainly stayed in the pool area, the restaurants and just one day at Disney Springs, which I'm not sure I liked after the enhancements. I also liked visiting GF, so beautiful....I see a resort stay there in the future, if I can score good FL res. rates.

I had that issue too, I found the outlets in the bathroom to work fine.
