For cl people I will be the lady in the lounge or poolside with decorated magic bands. My dd got me stickers in the Lilly Pulitzer prints that match many of my outfits, lol. I also have a monorail one too.

Please say Hey!

Not a great start, had to load all of our own stuff, magic bands don't work, CM not very helpful

I'm sorry your trip didn't get off to the best start. Hope it gets better and the rest of your trip is great :wizard:.

Good Morning Poly Peeps!

We were able to add that extra night to our stay and we are paid in full! 41 days until our first stay at the Poly. I will be staying 6 nights in a standard view with my Mom and my 7 year old son. DH and DD20 are sitting this one out (not fans of the August heat). My son doesn't know about the trip yet. He has been asking to go to Hawaii so I showed him pics of Poly and said maybe one day we could stay there and feel like we're in Hawaii. He thought that was a cool idea. So the night before we leave I am going to put together a little luau to tell him the news. This will be his 6th trip to WDW but I know staying at Poly is going to make this trip extra special. So excited!!!

Yay for being paid in full.....it's a great feeling :yay:.

I'm sure the next 41 days will go fast and you will be checking into the Poly before you know it :goodvibes.

We check in in 5 days - hoping not to experience these same things.

Hope you have a great trip :).

We check in exactly one month from today! :banana:

I just wanted to say how much I love this thread!! It's so active!!! :)

You will be there before you know it! :cheer2:

All that matters to me is that I can get some delicious coffee first thing in the morning:banana:

Same here ::yes::.

Our first stay at the Poly starts on Friday!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

We'll be there Saturday!

:banana::banana::banana:

Hi all!! We just booked the Poly for next August (5th-11) me, DH and DD who will be 17. We will be celebrating her HS graduation and our 20th anniversary. I am trying to read all of this thread, but it may take me a while!

We booked standard view and I booked online. Where would we put in requests such as first floor or near pool etc. Do I have to call for that?

We have not stayed at WDW since 2011, so a lot will be new to us. We have only "visited" the Poly when we were there in 2013 for marathon weekend when we rode the monorail to the deluxe hotels. What do I need to know? What should I ask for in a room request? Can I have them note in our ressie that we are celebrating 2 special events? (in the hopes of some pixie dust LOL)

Its gonna be a long year......

Johnsonet answered your questions about requests, but I wanted to say congrats on booking your first Poly stay...you will love it! Enjoy the planning :wizard:.

Can't go very wrong at the Polynesian:cutie:

I agree ;).

good morning!

we have our first Poly stay in 2 weeks! we will be in a studio with dvc points.

Have a great time! :goodvibes

Question about Kona Island, by pastries, are there muffins like chocolate chip and maybe blueberry? We don't usually eat big breakfasts and we were hoping a couple days just to grab a muffin or even cinnamon roll to go.

Here's a blog post re. Kona Island breakfast offerings, from disneyfoodblog: (Hope the offerings are still as plentiful but looks as though this is over a year old.)

Wow, those Kona Island pastries look incredible! Do they also serve milk and juice?

G

They have let me order lunch too. They just don't do the placesetting set up like they do at night. That was Nov and Jan .

Well that is a different thing. You can sit at Kona island for lunch and dinner and order off the Kona Café menu but really you are just ordering a meal from Kona Café. That is not really Kona Island serving your. I was just speaking of what Kona Island serves and that they have a to-go menu that is also being prepared at Kona Café. They stopped preparing sushi at the Island a long time ago.

Yes there are muffins also but you can get stuff like that at Captain Cook's also.

Long time lurker here...thanks to everyone for the helpful information!

Getting so excited for our 8/15-8/21 first time at the Poly, but also a little nervous. We will have WDW first timers with us and really hope we chose the right resort to get them hooked like we are! They are a family of 5 with kids ages 8, 6, and 4, so thought that it would be a good fit for them and we have always wanted to stay there.

Oh you are all going to love it! We went in March with the kids (9 y.o. and 5 y.o.) My kids had a blast at the Volcano pool and in the new splash area for kids. This was obviously their favourite part of the trip! They spent hours there while my husband and I enjoyed watching them with tropical drinks lounging on the beach chairs. By the way, you can get lunch at Captain Cooks and eat by the pool. The fish tacos were delicious and the kids chicken tenders were surprisingly above average! But the best part was having Dole Whips by the pool. SO yummy!
We also had drinks at Trader's Sam one night. Kids are allowed anytime before 8PM. There is outdoor seating,with a live musician and cosy fireplaces everywhere. We had grown up drinks while the kids enjoyed dole whips again. We all had a great time. We then went to watch the fireworks on the beach that night. We brought blankets to sit on and the kids loved cuddling up with us. It was a magical moment.
The kids also enjoyed eating at breakfast at Kona Cafe and loved their dinner at Ohana'.
Being on the monorail was so convenient with the kids. I also recommend taking the boat ride to Magic Kingdom one evening. The views on the water are so pretty at night, the kids loved that experience.
Have a great trip!

We celebrated these exact same occasions over the years as well! Enjoy the planning and have a magical vacation!

We adore the third floor of Samoa on the theme pool side for the most stunning views at standard view prices. The location cannot be beat. We have been pixie dusted twice to have requested and been granted that view twice. We are trying for Fiji third floor this time for something different. Raratonga also has an amazing location. As you can see, we are third floor people. We like the balcony and the view. The least desirable rooms are on the 2nd floor...no balcony or patio. Good luck and stay flexible.

I will be there in 4 days. Watch this thread for my pics from around the resort!
