So there are busses from TTC to Epcot? This is where I am having trouble finding an answer. We will be in a DVC studio so heading over to TTC will be no problem, I just don't want to get there and not have a way to Epcot. My mom is now telling me she can do without her ECV that morning, so we can just take an Uber. She really wants this breakfast, lol!

Oops - I thought what @Cluelyss was saying was that there was bus from TTC to Epcot, just not from Polynesian to Epcot.

Guess you'd better wait and see when you get there. One way or another, you will make it if you get an early enough start and have Uber as a back-up. Wish I could help more.
Maybe someone there now could try and look for signs or even ask a Transportation CM at the bus stop?? :hippie:

Just returned from Poly stay. Oasis pool very nice was always able to find lounge with no problems in morning as well as as mid afternoon. Drink refill station is convenient. Capt. Cooks not so great ..if you were on dining plan there were limited desserts available seemed to be out of chocolate chip cookies and all cupcakes every time we were there. Also the "grab n go" cooler was usually empty sometimes we were told they were just out of items and sometimes we were told the cooler was broken. Found much better service and selection at Quick service location at GF or CR! Tonga toast was awful...tried it once at Capt. cooks and again at Kona Cafe no where as good as it used to be before they changed the bread.

Also really frustrating with housekeeping one day room was cleaned between 1-2:00 pm other days room still not clean at 3:00! However, on our checkout day they were knocking on the door at 9:00 am and when we told them we would be out by 11:00 am they were right there knocking on door at 11:00am!

You also have to make sure to get a schedule for the monorail at the front desk. On Tuesday morning we went to get monorail and were told it was not running until later in morning and that we had to walk over to TTC to catch bus to EPCOT. After we walked over to TTC we had to search for location on opposite side of the TTC to catch a bus to EPCOT. When we got all the way over there we had to wait 20 min for an EPCOT bus. During that time 2 busses pulled up to unload people who had been picked up from Poly, CR and GF! Later back at the Poly someone said they had been told that when the monorail was down there would be busses to the parks instead. Very confusing and different answers from various CMs. We did take the boat to MK another morning when the monorail was not running. Waited about 10 min. For the boat.

And we're on the end closest to the beach...love the balcony.

Hope you're having a good time :).

We are staying at the Poly for the first time (standard room) in August for our 10th anniversary. I had our TA put a request for a king, which I know isn't guaranteed. Just wondering, is that usually a difficult request to get? I know there aren't a lot of king rooms and I will make the request at online check in also, if it is one of the options.

I can't answer about the probability of getting a king room, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip and enjoy the Poly :wizard:.

The only other thing I can think of is to talk with the CM at check-in. Ask if you've been assigned a King room and if not ask if you can be moved to one. I'm sure they will do all they can. Good luck.

I agree! Sometimes requests get overlooked, so if you don't get assigned a king, you can always ask if one is available. It's not guaranteed your room can be changed, but they will do everything they can to accommodate you :goodvibes.

We will be at the Poly in less than 2 weeks for our first stay! We are so excited!

Have a great trip and enjoy the Poly! :wizard:.

Checking in this week!

Have a great trip :yay:.

For a first time Poly stayer which longhouse should i request? (im in a standard room, not dvc)

My favorite is Samoa. It's convenient to everything as it's just steps from both pools, the GCH, Captain Cooks, and the beach. With that said, I agree with johnsonet that you really can't go wrong with any of them :goodvibes.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry about housekeeping, desserts at Captain Cooks, and the monorail issues, but I hope you had a nice trip overall :wizard:.

Yes! We had a wonderful trip in spite of those minor issues...

Thank you for this important info. So frustrating that there is not a concrete system right now.
Glad you had a good trip.

Which longhouse were you in? And did you like it?

Rarotonga 3rd floor facing pool building couldn't actually see the pool but was able to see higher fireworks. It was great location right beside main bldg. close to buses and pools. Very close to the Dole whips we loved it!

Yay! Thanks. Sounds very nice. So awesome that you could see some of the fireworks! :wizard:
I've stayed in Rarotonga twice but we were on the monorail side. I agree - great location!

We are arriving at the end of July with the same request. Minus the anniversary. I'll let you know if we have any success. I didn't see the option for King during online check in.

Will the monorail be running in august? Any expected refurbishments?

The monorail is old and needs lots of maintainence. There have been off/on closures during the day for the past couple of years. I think it is the "new reality" of the monorail.

Thanks! It won't ruin our vacation but I was curious if it is a difficult request. I suppose there really isn't any way to know.

Looking at pictures of the Polynesian beach fence today in what I hope to be it's final incarnation, it really doesn't look that bad. I quite like it! Obviously it would be preferable without, but if it has to be there, I think this is as good as it could get.

Our family's next trip to WDW we will be staying at Poly for a couple nights, most likely in a standard room.

Because I travel with my sister, we need two beds - a king is not an option. Our last WDW stay we spent a night at AoA and were initially assigned a king bed room -- we immediately requested a change to a room with two beds, which was done, but the room assigner we spoke with explained that when it is just two people they will often assign a king room (at least at AoA) (I thought that was rather presumptive about them about the relationship between the two people, but anyhow, they solved the issue quickly).

For Poly, do we need to actually request two queen beds or is this a guarantee with a standard room ?

Did you catch a bus at the TTC? My mom could ECV over there with no problem if need be. I'm worried about getting the ECV in a cab. I would just cancel the breakfast but it's literally the only thing the entire trip my mom has asked for! I did it with my cousins last month and they came back raving about it. She is so excited I don't want to disappoint her.
Yes, we were able to get a bus to Epcot from TTC. At first we were told there were no Epcot busses and we needed to take the Epcot monorail. When I explained to the CM we needed to get to Epcot before the monorail started running for an ADR, he called one for us and it was there within minutes. Just a heads up that you may need to ask!!

My family of 3 was originally put in a king room in Fiji for our Jan 16 trip even though we had requested 2 Queens. The CM at check in stated that the couch folds out to a bed so the room did sleep 3. We did not want our daughter to have to sleep on the couch though so they were able to move us to another room after about a 20 minute search for one.
