I've never been to the Poly before and will be staying there in August. When I look on Google Maps, it says that Capt Cooks and Kona Island are not in any main buildings:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/D...11d5182c68b0f632!8m2!3d28.405778!4d-81.584175

Is this accurate? I'm also wondering what's in the building adjacent to the Great Ceremonial House with the silvery top. Is that just all part of the GCH? I'm just trying to get a sense of where things are before we go. Thanks!

How is the view? That has always been the one long house we don't want b/c of the standard view being looking at Fiji. Fingers crossed we don't get it but I won't let it ruin our trip. We just ended up w/ almost the worst view you could possibly get last yr at the Contemporary. I thought all standard view rooms were facing the back parking lot so I just requested top floor. Well we got that, but it was clear out at the end of the wings looking back towards at the rest of the wings heading out there. The only saving grace was that it wasn't the very 1st room. Those 6 (one each floor, one on each side of the middle wing) were the worst. We were the 2nd room over. I don't pay for views, but staring at a wall is not very magical and shouldn't really be an option w/out it being much cheaper than the others. I did ask to pay to upgrade but they were completely booked.
The view is ok...garden view...we can see part of the beach. It's a short walk down the stairs to the beach.

And we're on the end closest to the beach...love the balcony.

We are staying at the Poly for the first time (standard room) in August for our 10th anniversary. I had our TA put a request for a king, which I know isn't guaranteed. Just wondering, is that usually a difficult request to get? I know there aren't a lot of king rooms and I will make the request at online check in also, if it is one of the options.

Does the bigger pool have shady areas? We'll be there in 2 weeks! Cannot wait!!
No, not much shade. Some tables have umbrellas, good luck getting them. All the Wdw resorts really need more umbrellas around the pools IMO. Especially in summer.

If your TA added it to your res. and has also noted that you are celebrating your anniversary, then I think you've done all you can do.
The only other thing I can think of is to talk with the CM at check-in. Ask if you've been assigned a King room and if not ask if you can be moved to one. I'm sure they will do all they can. Good luck.

We will be at the Poly in less than 2 weeks for our first stay! We are so excited! I have a transportation question. We have a PPO GG reservation at 8:05 on our Epcot day. The Epcot monorail doesn't start running until 8. Will a bus be provided? Normally I would just grad an Uber, but my mom will be on an ECV due to foot surgery. I have had a really hard time trying to figure out how to get to Epcot by 7:30. Thanks!

Checking in this week! Question about monorail schedule. I know i saw a post on the boards a while back with the current schedule, but i can't seem to find it now. Anyone know where to find or do they give you a schedule at resort when you check in? That would be fine. I know it's listed under the refurbs on wdwinfo but I think that info was different/less specific than what I'd seen on the boards.

Even while there last summer, I was not 100%, day to day, sure of the monorail schedule :headache:
I'd just recommend keeping your eyes and ears open, and also assume there will always be at least a bus to take you to the parks after 6:30am for early breakfast reservations.

Had this issue in December. They were NOT running busses to Epcot, as I assumed they would be for PPO ADRs. After much drama, we were able to walk to TTC and catch one there, but that won't work for you. Not sure if other monorail resorts run busses to Epcot or not, but pretty sure we got one early from CR once? I'd ask at the front desk what options you have, but a cab may be your best bet that day.

Did you catch a bus at the TTC? My mom could ECV over there with no problem if need be. I'm worried about getting the ECV in a cab. I would just cancel the breakfast but it's literally the only thing the entire trip my mom has asked for! I did it with my cousins last month and they came back raving about it. She is so excited I don't want to disappoint her.

For a first time Poly stayer which longhouse should i request? (im in a standard room, not dvc)

That is terrible.
I guess I've never had to go PPO from Polynesian to Epcot. Thanks for the info! We will need to do this in August. I've definitely taken buses to AK and MK for early breakfasts many times over the years, from various resorts.
Too bad it's so confusing:sad2:

@hamilkm I would do what Cluelyss did and walk/ride over to TTC and catch a bus to Epcot.
Have fun! We are doing an early breakfast at GG one morning, too:flower1:

I would request Fiji or Samoa. These are very popular buildings with some great views.
I have stayed in Niue and loved it. Very small longhouse with a great location.
Rarotonga is also a great location and right beside the Great Ceremonial House (lobby and quick service, etc.)
You pretty much cannot go wrong. I have never stayed in Aotearoa but have read of people very happy with their rooms there, too.
You may not get what you request, so please know that the resort is beautiful and I've loved every view there that I've ever had (8+ stays). Have fun:cutie:

So there are busses from TTC to Epcot? This is where I am having trouble finding an answer. We will be in a DVC studio so heading over to TTC will be no problem, I just don't want to get there and not have a way to Epcot. My mom is now telling me she can do without her ECV that morning, so we can just take an Uber. She really wants this breakfast, lol!
