Yes, we'll "Disney On" too! Thank you for the reply. Somehow it feels better to share with my Disney peeps. I knew that someone would understand. I wish you and your family a wonderful, magical trip!
I hope you have a magical trip as well!!!

Thank you for sharing... and letting me know I'm not alone! Disney is my "Happy Place," and my spirits are dampened this year. I'm feeling a little sad, a little nervous, even a little guilty. I know that sounds crazy, but my heart just hurts for this family and all of the Orlando families that recently lost loved ones.

But as another poster said, we'll "Disney On"! I wish you and your family a magical trip!!!

I can completely understand how you both feel. I think it's totally natural to have that sort of apprehension. You're going to your happy place which has been anything but happy lately.

Have a wonderful trip! I'm hoping to go back next August and stay at the Poly or the BC. Still not sure which.

I am so heartbroken over the recent tragedy at the GF. We are a true Disney family, DVC members who vacation there every year. We have always stayed at AKL/AKV, but decided to book a lake view studio at the Poly this summer to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We leave in 9 days, and for the first time ever I feel a bit unsettled. I want to immerse myself in the usual joy, excitement and anticipation of an upcoming Disney vacation, but I can't help thinking about the devastating loss of the Graves family. It's just unimaginable.

We are not canceling our vacation, because we understand that horrible accidents happen and life is for living, but I am wondering if the Poly will still be magical in the wake of this tragedy and without the use of the beaches or boats. We used an awful lot of points to stay there over the 4th of July, and I guess we'll still be able to see the fireworks from our room, but had looked forward to a special experience. To those who know and love resort... would you have second thoughts about staying there in the very near future?
I feel you. We arrive in early September this year. I have let my kids walk along the water's edge many!! times. Our youngest will be 2 on this trip, so this hits so close to home for us. I have had this tragedy weighing heavy on my heart since it happened. But we will still go and hopefully remember every second we are there how precious life is. I also added a day, just so we don't have to rush anything and can enjoy our time as a family. I hope you enjoy your trip!!

According to a popular celebrity gossip website (not sure if I'm allowed to post a link) it's showing they're building a fence around Seven Seas Lagoon, as well as adding new sinage.

So far it's just the Grand Floridian. For now.

It's my understanding that fishing excursions in Bay Lake have been cancelled. Has anyone heard if this is temporary or permanent and if temporary, when they may start up again?

Just realized I can do online check-in. When I booked (over the phone) I requested Fiji but I'm thinking of also adding Niue, since I can make 2 requests. I do love this little building...

There is a tradition of placing a lei in the ocean as a remembrance of a loved one that has passed. Has anyone done this at the Poly by placing one in the Seven Seas Lagoon for the little boy that drowned?

Just received an email that are magic bands have been shipped! We've received our ME tags and info booklet. Can't wait, less than a month away! :drive:

Yay for MBs being shipped :yay:. Hope you have a great trip!

One week from tomorrow we check into the Poly! We head over to the Boardwalk Villas after! Maybe we'll bump into each other. My twins are 12! :)

Have a great trip! :wizard:

I just realized, we check in for our first stay in exactly two months!
We don't even have park tickets during our Poly stay. We're just going to hang out by the pools and relax. :goodvibes
I'm so looking forward to this!

Hope you have a great time! A resort only trip is a great way to relax :goodvibes.

Have a great trip! We are celebrating my twins' 10th birthday on Monday.

How exciting! Hope they have a great birthday! :cake:

What a peaceful photo :cloud9:.

Do folks like ground floor or third floor rooms? I am hoping to get our request of Samoa, but since that longhouse is really popular, is Niue a good back up? We plan to go to bed on the early side, but also want to be closer to the pools since our kids are still younger and will need a break every day from the parks. aotearoa seemed peaceful, but worried it is too far a walk from things. Appreciate the input!

I have only heard that the "what's biting" signs have been removed, nothing about canceling the excursions altogether?

I like all three floors. Nice to have a balcony or patio but even 2d floor is fine by me. We tend to go in summer and do not hang out outside, just go out to take photos, really~
Niue is really cute. And easy in and out since it is so small and short hallways. Awesome location!

We are planning for May 2017!!!!! Does anyone know if the lovely lady that runs the games for children and singing for dinner at Ohana is still there!!!???

Considering there's no beach access, I highly doubt it
