My request got noted as Fiji 3rd floor or Samoa 3rd floor. I was thinking of using TP to request a specific room via fax. She won't add a request for a specific room.

My TA noted my building request and floor when making the reservation, and I plan on using the Touring Plans room request, also.

Personally I never tell people to make that specific of a request. When the room assigning system was explained to me right after they started using it I was told that if the request is that specific then the system would look for that availability. If it was a room number and it was not available the system would then boot out the request and assign a random selection based on what rooms were open.

They give you a code such as this (Bldg 3,Flr 3,E-facing room.Exmple:3311,3312,3313,3314,3315,3316,3317,3318,3319) to put it in a specific vicinity. But it doesn't actually request a single room. I'm not sure if that's better or worse from the point of view of the scheduling algorithm or not. In our case, 3rd floor with a balcony is really a priority over other factors so we may just leave it alone. It's hard to know what the right thing to do is since there's very little feedback

we stayed on the non-harbor side of Fiji and I barely remember hearing the Luau at all.

Thank you. I really think non-harbor Fiji would be my preference but I really don't want the Luau to be an issue for the kids.

Finally, I used the Touring Plans fax and used the phrasing that they recommended to request 3rd floor Fiji marina facing, starting with the specific room we wanted and then fanning outward from that room. We were assigned one room over from our first request and were extremely pleased with the results of everything. Who knows which part of the request was honored, but being one room over from our request through TP seems too much of a coincidence. Of course, we were there in August and it wasn't sold out, as far as I know, and YMMV. But I wanted you to know it can work.

I chose my room request mostly because of Tikiman's awesome advice at that time as to how to avoid construction, so I need to thank him here! It was an awesome first vacation for our family at Disney and we are headed back this summer again!

I'm so happy to hear that you went last August and are going back this summer. I'm a bit worried about the heat for our August trip and am happy to hear that you didn't think it was so bad that it's keeping you away!

I'm not going to lie, it was hot. I've heard Florida heat in August described as the surface of the sun, and I definitely see it. And the humidity is rough too. But as long as you follow the advice on here about how to avoid it (rest times in afternoon, use the pool, try to take advantage of indoor shows at hotter times, and drink plenty of water...among other things), you will be fine.

I totally wish we could go at cooler times of the year, but we have the most vacation time in the summer. And in the end, the heat never affected the magic one bit for us. I'm a wimp and if I did it, I bet anyone can!

I too was assigned the room next door to the first of my "room sequence" via Touring Plans fax. An upon-reservation 3rd floor request and construction avoidance, was also noted and delivered.

We are hoping to get a room in Fiji, with a view of the marina (DH's wishes lol).. how did you like the room? We've never stayed there so I am very excited!

I loved the room! We had a perfect view of the marina and the GCH was so convenient! I would love to have that room again.

My family has stayed there a lot of times and we have never heard the Luau. There is an increase of foot traffic during the Luau arrival and exit times but even being on the first floor we didn't have a lot of noise or anyone walking near our patio. There's a grassy area right outside of Fiji that's between the building and the Luau entrance so it's like a little buffer area.

We will be at the Poly in 24 days! Our first stay. We are going down to as a surprise trip for my daughters 10th birthday. I did call Disney and had them add it to both my reservations (split stay). We will be down there for her actual birthday. Will they do anything special for her at Poly besides the birthday button? I have planned some special things for her during our time there. I was just curious.

The Poly is amazing, you're going to have a great time! The next 24 days will go fast and you will be checking into the Poly before you know it .

Yes I know how the Touring Plans code works. I helped supply many of the room views (which now need to be updated since so much has changed since then. It works well but many want to request a specific room and I believe that limiting your request to a specific room or two can backfire.

I would be a little hesitant to request Fiji, Aotearoa or Tuvalu until the work to their supports are completed because we don’t know when that work will start or finish.

It looks like the supports around the DVC longhouses are the older bases so at some point it looks like those will need to be replaced also. I’m surprised they did not do that when they were working on converting those longhouses to DVC and they had the whole area closed off.

How early can you check-in? We will be arriving early so we can get to the parks for rope drop can you check-in and leave your bags in the car or is there a place to leave them or will they take them to your room when its ready? What do you have to do to the magic bands before you can go to the park? Sorry never used the bands before, and we will be using the military passes how do you get them on your bands?
