We just stayed there for the first time in the Hawaii CL and loved it! We unfortunately did not get to take advantage of the food offerings but I really liked the layout of the room and building and the resort itself. I don't know how we lucked out but we got a lagoon view where we could see the water pageant and Wishes right from our room.

Any room request advice? We have a standard room booked, and like 1st floor, and close to GCH. If I had to pick a side of the resort, I would say towards TTC. We have always stayed in and loved Rarotonga, even the monorail side. Problem is, I don't really want to look at the scrim. Anyway to request monorail side or "non-construction" view? And suggestions for a building that would not have this issue?
Just got back from Poly. Made my room request online and called 3 days before with my request. I did not get my request. When I arrived...I made my request again and said I would wait for available room. They said they would have one the next day. So I said okay. I had to call in the a.m. to confirm the request, then check out and check back in. I left my luggage with Bell Services and they delivered it the next day. It was well worth the wait for exactly what I wanted.

Wow! Sounds so nice. No advice. But have a great time! :thumbsup2
The beach is lovely at night. There is plenty of room on the beach to view the fireworks. We happened upon it one night walking back from the parks. It was very pretty and there were plenty of places to view from.

Just booked our first stay at the Poly in a lake view studio over July 4th. I thought I would have trouble booking at the seventh month mark - during a busy holiday week - but had no problem at all! We will be spending a few days at POP for my daughter's "Dance the World" event, then heading to the Poly for five nights to relax and also celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Well, I realize there will be little "relaxing" during the week of July 4th, but we are excited nevertheless. It is our fist time staying at this beautiful resort!

Just switched our stay over to a Poly lake view studio for our end of June trip. Thought I have trouble making the switch at the 7th month mark, but no problem. Now we just have to wait for June 28th to get here! Can't wait! This is our sons graduation trip and we were originally booked at the VGF, but he made a comment the other day about wanting to stay at the Poly, so off I went to make the change!

Okay: Trip Report - first time at Poly.

The Good: Loved the view! Great weather, although we had some cold nights. We had a little rain here and there, nothing much. One night it poured! We were in MK and got to go on all the rides...nobody at park in pouring rain. We all had on rain gear. Ohana was fabulous! The CM's were all very polite and helpful. We changed rooms after the first night and it went very smooth. The room was nice and spacious. The cleaning people did a very good job every day. The beach is just lovely, nice white sand. There is a boat that goes directly to MK and the Grand Floridian...saved tons of time on transportation. The ticket and transportation center is a short walk...so you can avoid having to transfer every time you take the monorail. The pool was hardly crowded at all....the Jacuzzi was never full of people or just kids. It was very nice. The outside is very pretty with Tiki Torches at night and nice music throughout. The fireworks from the beach is also pretty. There were plenty of beach chairs on the beach and a few bench swings. They do a conk shell ceremony every night with a fire twirling ceremony to say goodbye to the day and bring in the night. It is very short.

The Just Okay: Captain Cooks has very little variety. The food was just okay. The store that has food items is small, not much to chose from. The pool is noisy all afternoon, not because of the people but the activity director uses a microphone with speakers that is very loud and annoying. If you like to do naps during the day, you can hear the loudspeakers in your room, even with the patio doors closed. Otherwise the pool really isn't nosey at all in the morning or at nightl. The water was a bit chilly in spite of being heated. The elevators are kind of banged up. They are really small and just worn. The resort is sort of on the dark side and not as breathtaking as other resorts such at AKL and WL. I do like that it is small and feels more intimate than other larger resorts.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The transportation options shortened wait times. The pool and Jacuzzi with the good view was excellent. The atmosphere is very inviting and has lots of charm. And there was no construction noise and the area where people were working is surrounded by a nice barrier and there was hardly any noise even when you walked right by that area where they were working.

This seems to be at most of the hotels. They really need to lower the volume at least a little bit or use multiple permanent speakers so that it can be heard but doesn't sound like a bullhorn.
The other thing they ought to do is teach the CM's how to use a mic so they can heard and its not muffled due to them eating the mic.

I wish I could "like" this multiple times!! We'd love it if Disney would reconsider the afternoon "party." In our experience, very few kids actually participate and the volume is crazy loud. We have three boys, ages 16, 15 and 8 and our teens are starting to dislike pool time based on the volume of the games. Our 8-year-old is too busy swimming in the pool to think about participating. It was just as loud at WL and BWI this year as it was at Poly. It doesn't seem to have as much impact at BC because the pool is so spread out. And at GF, the volume seemed a little lower and it was mostly trivia questions that the kids answered while swimming.

What room did you have?

pixiedust:We will be at The Poly on NYE 2015. We have a reservation at Ohana @ 6:30. We have no plans to go to a park that day , but are planning to watch the fireworks from the beach or our room patio.

Sounds like a great way to spend NYE :wizard:.

We'll be there for the first time in August, that's why we chose the Poly

The Poly is amazing, you will love it! :goodvibes

Congrats on getting a studio! We've never been over the 4th of July, but the Poly would be my first choice for that time of year :).

Thank you for your report! I enjoyed reading it. I would have switched rooms for that view also! Just beautiful. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay!

Can't believe we will finally be at the Polynesian tomorrow. So very excited to start our magical Disney vacation!!!! Not sure how much sleep I'll be getting this evening.

Can anyone tell me what rate they got for here for the Labor Day?

I got it for $238.50 (including tax) per night! 4 nights...Aug. 23-27. I'm at the YC for 4 nights before that for $214.88 (including tax) per night! Can not wait for August 2016!!!!!
