Having trouble deciding between Poly and BC for next August. Love both resorts. Kids want BC but wife and are smitten by the Poly. We would probably spend equal time in MK and EC.

So torn
Had the same dilemma today. Ended up booking Poly for 9/3-9/10. So excited! I do want to try BC sometime. Thought about a split stay but I just don't want to have to relocate mid week.

I have just spent the last 3 days reading through this thread. Thanks to everyone who post all the great information and pictures. I has made me very excited for my first stay at the Polynesian.

I have been to Disney many time but never stayed at the Poly but I'm excited to say I will be staying there for the first time in March. I am a new DVC owner and Poly as my home resort. We will be doing a 1 night post DCL cruise stay. We won't be there long but it will be great to check out the resort and see all the wonderful places I've read about on here. I will definitely be booking next month for a longer stay in Ocotber 2016.
Hope you enjoy many great years of DVC!:welcome: Enjoy your first Poly trip in March!October won't come soon enough for us!:cheer2:

Thanks! I am beyond excited! It's hard to get any work done, and it's still 5 months away!

I hear ya on not being able to get work done .....trips are always exciting, even when they are months out :goodvibes.

Good luck deciding, but I'm sure you'll have a great trip no matter which one you choose (but my choice would be the Poly ;)).

Congrats on DVC....you're going to love the Poly :).

Is a split stay an option for you? It's such a tough choice! We have Poly booked for a week next Sept, our first stay there and I'm afraid I won't want to stay anywhere else after that! :flower:

I was really torn between the BC and the Poly. I've stayed at YC and the BC. I preferred the theme of the BC and Epcot is my favorite park. But assuming this trip is a go, my mom will be with us and I think she'd really prefer the Poly. Her favorite resort is AKL and she liked POR. Other than the pool, she wasn't too excited about the YC.

Total Poly newbie here! With a great deal, looking at a possible trip for next August. Even though I'm pretty well versed in most things Disney, never thought we'd be able to stay Deluxe so never paid much attention to the resorts! I have a couple very basic, what may seem weird, questions...

* The 'daybed' or whatever it's called. How big is it? Is it possible for a young teen to sleep there? I've got 2 DSs who will be 16 and 14 next year. Sharing beds is getting to be out of the question. Will this work for the younger?

* Bathrooms. Our last few trips have been POFQ and we love the double sinks and the fact that the toilet/shower are behind one door, then you have the sinks with a curtain to pull to create a second private area. This helps immensely when four of us are trying to get ready in the mornings! It seems that the standard Poly rooms have everything in one bathroom area. Is that correct? No separation at all? And are there even two sinks in all the rooms?

See, weird, but little details I'm curious about!

I second this advice, try a split-stay. We were so in love with the BC and didn't want to consider anywhere else, but we have our first split stay booked for January 2016 and we are actually very excited about it now that we got on board with it!

No separate sink area. And my room in Fiji in 2013 had only 1 sink. That was pre - reno, though, and other longhouses may be different?

Yay, for SPLIT STAY; the best of both worlds!::yes:::cheer2:

A few pages back, someone mentioned that the Tiki Lighting Ceremony is back, but is now at the pool area instead of the front of the hotel. Is this a daily thing at a specific time? I'd love to fit it into our schedule. Thanks!

I have considered that. If it was 100% up to me I would do that but the fam seems opposed.
So much to love about both places. We also might have my brother and his family going at the same time and place. They are OKW addicts. Lol

Thanks to everyone who posted trip reports! Our first time at a deluxe resort....and was hesitant about the construction as many, many folks talked about and are still talking about. Decided to just go with it and hope for the best! It sounds lovely and so convenient to the parks, except maybe AK, which is pretty far from everything except the Animal Kingdom Resort. I am dying to try the hot tub, which no one is really talking about on here. Has anyone tried it? Your opinions would be welcome.

Sure you will have an AWESOME time! HOPING for the best for the hut tub in the next few weeks. I have heard that the Poly hot tub has had its share of problems and has been temporarily drained and closed on some days:eek:, but most recently is supposedly working. HOPE it remains open consistently going forward;:wizard: looking forward to using it to relax after F&W good eats!::yes::

My first stay was this past August. We will be returning with a great deal next August, I think. It was just that great for us. But I can see where some of the details might not work as well for you. Here's your answers:

The daybed is twin size, I'm pretty sure. My four year old slept in it and it dwarfed him, I laid in it next to him a few times and wasn't uncomfortable. Funnily enough, he was in it because he and his six year old sister don't share nicely! I can see with the ages of your kids that sharing would not work.

I stayed in Fiji, but from my understanding, all of the rooms that aren't DVC are pretty much the same setup. Two sinks, toilet, and bathtub/shower combo are all behind the same door. We liked it for us, but I can see where in your situation it would not be ideal. Also, the door to the bathroom is part glass. While you can't really see through it unless you are right on top of the door, it might be strange to some people.

Officially booked GV CL for July!!! This is my third year booking it and hoping to finally stay there. First it was the DVC and then the pool, hoping the third times the charm :)

As the pp said, the daybed is about twin size, so I think either of your DSs would be fine sleeping on it. Also as it has already been mentioned, there's no separation as far as the bathroom sinks from the toliet/shower, but all of them now have double sinks. Most of them did have just one sink, but double sinks were put in all bathrooms when they did the refurb ;).

Love BC, but there's just something special staying at an MK resort. Seeing the castle from your resort, being able to watch Wishes & Electric Water Parade sitting on the beach, or floating in the pool. Loved our Poly stay in August.
I also think Poly has the best transportation with boat or monorail to MK, or for getting to the other MK resorts, and short walk to TTC for Epcot.
