Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Just wanted to pass along what we were told / what we saw last week - we were there 6/29-7/2.

Take this with a grain of salt since they will probably be the last to know, but the CL Cast Member that checked us in told us the East/Quiet Pool would be closing "any day" and it could even be while we were there (it didn't). Probably a safe answer on their part to set our expectations low.

It will be tough to explain this in writing, but the way they poured the recently completed paths around that whole east pool "quad" makes getting to the east pool somewhat awkward at best. They poured the pathways up to a point and stopped, presumably where a future construction fence will go. They put down mulch as a "bridge" between the new path and old path leading into the pool area. It was like this in several spots around the pool. In my amature view, the way they poured these paths with the awkward gaps accessing the east pool certainly makes it seem like construction is close, it's not really a long-term setup at all.

Maybe not what folks want to hear, but hope it helps.
It does help. With that in mind, I hope they close the pool sooner rather than later so that we have an idea of what to expect before we get there.

Same here. Maybe a false hope but we had thought that if they started in April like they were originally scheduled, they would be done by the time we got there in September. Now they could be starting right as we get there or in the middle or not at all...guess I'll have to keep monitoring this page.

We are there in December and got a letter that the east pool construction would be taking place during our stay. So even if they had started on time, they weren't planning to be done until very late in the year. Their plan now is probably to have it ready by next spring (Easter?), given the late start. Hopefully that means they won't have to start until after Labor Day.

Finally back from our trip. It was AWESOME! As far as the east pool, I was told it was not going under construction till the end of Aug. early Sept. We really had no issues with noise although they were working in the longhouse directly in front of Fiji. It was probably due to the fact that we had very early morning activities planned. Our 6 nights were awesome and Trader Sam's was a great place for some fun and drinks were very tasty. All torches were lit at night and made the resort all the more spectacular. As far as the pool, it was crowded with a party-like atmosphere. Nothing to awful and we were able to enjoy both pools. We had a great time and I don't think anyone should be worried about staying at the Poly. We are going back in August for our anniversary and are very excited!

Just got this from IPO:

Aloha!

Thank You for your email. East pool should be open this weekend.

Please feel free to reach out with any further questions or requests.

Mahalo,

Ha I wouldn't be surprised if the East pool construction was delayed into September. It's the reason I held off booking the Poly in August so it only makes sense.

When I saw it was going to be closed for our trip this week (back in April) I moved...but since it is still open, I am glad I went back

19 more days for us:dancer:.

Are there nightlights in the delux studios? We're a family of 5 staying and I can imagine some choice words at 2am if someone bangs there shin on the pull down bed. :hyper2:

What is Touring Plans fax service? I called Disney and requested a longhouse. Is that not good enough? You can check in 60 days in advance?

In our family I'M the one who always seems to walk into something or stubs a toe in a hotel room in the middle of the night :sad2:. After learning the hard way, I now pack a nightlight!

We're staying at the Poly for the first time next month. We visited the resort last December to eat at Kona and the service at the restaurant and attitudes of CMs there was so bad. If it wasn't for the magical deal, we probably wouldn't have chosen to stay here next month. Hopefully this upcoming trip changes our mind about the resort. I requested a King bedroom at Fiji on the 3rd floor.

Very noticeable attitudes in the CMs now. What's going on? I feel like it never used to be like this.

We are booked at poly next march and I currently have Samoa has my longhouse as I was hoping construction on east pool would be done. It looks like it might not be :(
Should I call and switch to Fiji just in case?? For people who are going with construction what are some popular requests??

I'm sorry you both had trouble with CMs. We returned on Monday from a stay at the Poly and every CM we encountered was very nice and friendly.

Since you're only going in March I think I'd probably wait and see what is going on with construction before I'd switch. Samoa really is a perfect location and I'd hate for you to change your request and then the construction be completed by March. Obviously if you do change to Fiji and construction is completed you can always change your request back to Samoa.

Do they take into consideration when you put your room request in??

No. When you put your request in has no bearing. Requests can be added any time from the day you book up until 5-6 days out. I always have the CM note our requests when I book so I don't have to worry about it.

They will fax any room requests that you may have for you. You can do the exact same thing yourself by calling and adding any requests to your reservation.
