Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Normally there is no bus service to MK from Poly. However, when the monorail is on an altered schedule an not running in the AM there will be buses. They do realize guests like to get to MK well before rope drop.
How about the ferry when the monorail is on a modified schedule? Does that run before rope drop?

I do wonder why Disney doesn't just put out an actual guide online to transport when a certain aspect is changed, a can see I'm not alone in the confusion of what to do, as there are contradictory answers depending on where the info is coming from.

For now, I'm assuming they do indeed run buses to the MK when the Monorail is not running at 7am. I also suspect they run the boat earlier as well, but haven't seen an actual official guide that states that, just that they run "more" boats when the monorail isn't running. Still really excited about my first stay at Poly and know it will work out fine in the mornings, but it is frustrating; not frustrating the monorail has a different schedule but rather there seems to be know streamlined way to find alternatives in the morning hours.

Just booked Poly standard view for April 2016 for 4 days! This will be our first stay here. Then we are moving offsite for 5 days. My husband can't take too much disney.

This morning we booked the Poly for October of next year. :goodvibes It'll be my first time there in a little over four years. We had planned to stay there for SWW this year, but later realized that Pop made more sense given how little time we'd be at the resort. I can't wait to see all the changes!

I just booked a last minute stay at the Poly for July 4 weekend. This will be our first stay at the Poly and we are super excited. I've always wanted to stay there. We are seasonal pass holders so we don't plan on going to the parks. We just want to enjoy the resort. What are some things we need to be sure to do?
Also, I need some info on where the best place to watch the fireworks from MK.
Watch Wishes from the Trader Sam's patio; they pipe in the music! I also like watching them from the beach to see the Electrical Water Pageant, too.

We really want to watch them from the beach area. Are there lounge chairs on the beach? Can we bring our own beach chairs? Which beach area has the best view?

I'm incredibly confused about the transportation. :confused3 Please excuse me for being so. I'm not a Disney veteran by a long shot, so even regularly scheduled transportation has me scratching my head! Lol :scratchin

In a nutshell, can anyone spell out the exact form and timing of transportation in getting from the Poly to MK and EP, while the monorail is out of service, especially for both RD (8:20 arrival) and for early morning ADRs (7:45 entry into the park, so I'm told)?

Eg. :drive: Bus - starting at what time?, running every ? mins, time of last run of the night time, etc.
:sail:Small Poly boat? - Same questions...

Is there anyone at the Poly now who can shed some light? This might be premature, for me personally, because I'm not arriving till mid-August, but I'd rather be prepared in the event things are delayed (as we know can happen).

Pity, staying at a monorail resort partly for the ease in getting to the two monorail resorts and then having to take busses. :sad2: Oh well, it is what it is. I just have to say, I really, really dislike the bus option for MK. The smaller Poly boat would be perfect:thumbsup2, but I'd like to know if and when they're running (early).

@dansdad, you're very well-versed in all things Disney. Is it typical for busses to run for Poly guests when the monorail is down? Is there an actual schedule posted on Polynesian property (or anywhere else...the web?) with the specific running schedule? I guess I'm just "concerned" because I'm a planner and I like to know things like when I have to get up in the mornings, therefore when I need to bed down for the night...kinda cycular, you know? ;)

TIA!

In a nutshell, there is no set schedule but the buses generally arrive every 20 minutes. If the monorail is running on a limited schedule, the buses will start running from Poly to MK and EP at 6:30AM. The boats start running from Poly to MK 30 minutes prior to MK opening. The boats usually take about 15-20 minutes round trip.

Also, the Concierge desk is extremely helpful if you have any questions while you are there.

This is HEAVEN! We've been here since Friday and have no complaints!!!!! So HAPPY!
Great view. We requested Fiji too. Can't tell from your pic, are you on 3rd floor with balcony? And do you have a connecting room? If so, is there any noise issue from room next door? I was thinking of adding non connecting room to my res, but most important is balcony so not sure I should!

There are lounge chairs on the beach; I watched from the area directly behind the volcano pool. Great view! You can also see them very well *from* the pool, which is kind of fun!

I keep getting more and more depressed the more I read about Poly. Construction is one thing, but now no ambiance of lit torches?! What next? :worship:
