Glad you found a ride to Epcot! We had an issue getting there last week for a PPO ourselves - front desk told us busses would start running at 7 from Poly to Epcot (which I knew wasn't true from our last stay), but decided to check anyway. No Epcot bus on the board, so we asked the driver of the first bus that showed up. He called in and told us one should be there at 7:30. We grabbed a cab instead. Love the location and convenience of Poly, but getting to Epcot in the morning has been a challenge for us every time we've stayed there!
Yep! I think we got lucky this morning. A guy driving a bus labeled run Disney stopped and asked us where we were going. We told him Epcot, and he was like I can go there! He gave us a private ride and dropped us off at the stop closest to the door. If a family doesn't have an ECV to deal with, I would definitely just recommend a taxi or uber!

Hello friends, I am home. Missing the Poly so much that I've been looking at my calendar to see if there is any way to sneak a trip in this fall or winter. In any event, we just had a split-stay starting off at BWI CL for 3 nights and moving to Poly CL for 4 nights including July 3 and 4. I posted a review of BWI CL in the BWI thread, and I also posted a comparison of these 2 CL's in the CL thread. Now, last but not least, I'll post a few words about the Poly portion of our stay.

Since we were moving from BWI, we left that resort on check-out morning and walked through Epcot (stopping to FP Soarin and TT) and hopped on the monorail over to Poly. Received the "room not ready" text while on the monorail. We decided to stop at Hawaii anyway to cool off in the lounge and grab a cold drink (it was exceptionally hot this trip without much rain). So we got off the monorail at Poly and went right to Hawaii. The desk CM buzzed us in and I explained we were checking in but our room wasn't ready. She was shocked that we weren't escorted back to Hawaii, but I explained we didn't even stop in the main building. So...she double-checked all of our info and we went to the lounge for a bit. Let me just say it was like heaven walking into the lounge. We just LOVE it. It's instant relaxation and excitement just to sit in that lounge with that view. While sitting there, my girls suggested we go to AK so we decided to check for FP's. Dinosaur was available, so we booked it and took off for that park. Must've been our lucky trip because the bus was just arriving at the stop and we got right on (this happened to us several times, shockingly!). We went to AK and had a great unplanned day there. I received our "room ready" text so we decided to head back to Poly. I was so excited to see we got our 1st floor request and we didn't get our usual 1503 room but were close by with 1505! I posted our view while we were there, but here's another pic just to keep everything organized.

We had a welcome note and chocolates and also nightly turndown service.

CMs were like normal, some were friendly and some were not. Irv is back to working his normal hours after being laid off earlier in the year. The food was also like normal...not great like RPC, BWI and BC. The first night had meatballs and those potato triangles, plus the normal raw veggies, cheese, pineapple, grapes, pb&j...

The next night had crab Rangoon and conch, not our favorites so we ordered the Ohana twilight feast (which was great). The next night was July 4 which brought in people out of the woodwork -- wow every CL room must have been occupied and every single person in each room must've been in the lounge! The decorations were festive and the food was good. Thank goodness there was chili this year to help me like boiled hotdogs, plus a big bowl of redhot. Mac & cheese, chicken wings, and I always love the salad but this year they put crumbled blue cheese all over all 3 salads and I don't like blue cheese, So...no salad for me this time. It seemed very popular, though, because they kept refilling 3 large bowls.

Our last night was sushi, which we don't like so we went to MK and ate at Liberty Tree.
Thanks for posting. It was nice they kept people off the grass! I also liked seeing the 4th decorations. I was there in Nov 2014 and woke up one morning to the lounge with its Christmas Tree and other decor :)

I enjoy Irv too!

I've had 1511 and 1513 previously. I requested 1st or 3rd floor for this next trip but not many lagoon views on 3rd floor. Fingers crossed tho!!!

I guess we will plan to drive ourselves. I don't want to wait around trying to figure out how to get there :car:

Good luck - I hope you get your request! I think you will. I think a lot of the 1st floor rooms are LV now. I know a lot of CM's are uninformed, but before my room was ready, I questioned if they knew which floor I was on and the CM said most likely the 1st floor because most of that floor is LV.

Sorry for the silly question (hubby is a total foodie), do the snack stands by the pools allow you to use disney dining snack credits? We know the Contemporary does, but not sure if the other resorts are doing this now as well. TIA! =)

Thanks to all that responded. There was good info in there to help decide on a resort, in fact I think I was almost sold on the Poly until talking to someone that stayed there and they said that you may not want any of the rooms near the beach area, especially if you have small kids, because there's always a lot of loud drumming around there when they have a luau so it could keep you awake. Are they really that loud that you can hear it in some of the rooms?

Only on items marked with the Snack Logo. The pool bars at the Poly have a more limited array of non-liquid snacks than the Sand Bar does. All the pool bars have something that qualifies, but they tend to be smoothies and lemonades, with some variance by resort on other items.

I am very excited to be spending an overdue honeymoon / 8th anniversary at Poly this upcoming November ( 11- 18th ). We had originally had reservations at POFQ but after spending some time at Poly on my solo trip in April, I instantly fell in love with the resort. I sent my husband a few photos and he called me no more than 5 mins later telling me to upgrade to the poly once I got home!!! A Win for me!!! lol... I called and they were out of the rooms I was looking at and they said because of travel to and from disney they would upgrade me at no additional cost to the standard room I wanted. So they booked me for a CL LV and I had asked if they had a King bed ( after all it is a honeymoon / anniversary trip :D ) they said they would put in a request for that. but From what I gather Hawaii house is only Doubles and Tonga (sp) has the king beds... All I know is, I am 129 days out but who's counting. :-):-):-):-)

We will be there the 14th-18th (kid free!!!) celebrating our 4th anniversary. The only thing we are doing in the parks is MVMCP one night other than that is all resort time, monorail hopping and Disney Springs. Dinner reservation at Ohana is all lined up and we have a lake view and I can't wait to watch the fireworks and EWP from our balcony! We really wanted to do F&W but decided to really dedicate this trip to enjoying and appreciating the Poly. Cant wait!!!

P.S: We stayed at POFQ this last easter and LOVED it but I think you made the right choice upgrading to the Poly

I am staying at Poly for the first time this August and have a studio villa booked for the weekend. I'm a little confused about the transportation situation. I have a PPO breakfast at MK one morning, and EMM on another morning. Should I be worried about getting to those on time, given the current monorail schedule?

I'm also worried about transportation issues. Among other things, we have a PPO breakfast at Epcot on a Monday in Late August, when the monorail is closed according to that refurbishment website. We are also taking midday breaks every day at the MK and Epcot, and the website refers to a "Monorail shutdown" from 11:30-6 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Does the "monorail shutdown" mean all 3 beams--resort, express, and Epcot? If not, which one is actually closed midday?

Also, I'm really worried about what I am reading about miscommunication by CMs about what alternate forms of transportation are really available. I don't want to have to worry about this on vacation. I would like to know in advance what the options are and just mindlessly execute on vacation. Does anyone have any clear answers?

For those who recommend taxis/uber -- any thoughts on availability of taxis/uber with car seats or boosters for kids ages 4-7? Do you need to wait a long time for those to arrive? I'm considering purchasing inflatable boosters, but I'd rather avoid that expense if not needed, and all things being equal I'd rather my not yet 40 lb 4 (almost 5) year old be in a real car seat rather than a booster.

The monorail shutdown is just the express beam between the TTC and the MK. The resort and Epcot beams will still be running. You shouldn't have a problem with your breaks. I'm not really sure the best answer on the early Epcot breakfasts. We had one this morning and the Epcot monorail doesn't start til 8. We walked to the TTC and they got us a bus. We just had to ask because there were no signs at all. They put us at the AK stop. Every Uber SUV I have taken lately has had one car seat in the back end and we never waited more than 10 minutes for one.

The boats should be running or you can walk to the TTC and take the ferry. There seem to still be plenty of MK options when the monorail is down. It's Epcot that gets confusing!

Thank you so much!! This is very helpful.

I guess this might be flame worthy and a bad parenting decision, but I've used taxis with no car seats or boosters at Disney with my then 4 and 5 year old DS a handful of times. Don't judge! I'm a fan of using taxis from Poly when other modes of transport are time consuming or not available, totally convenient.

I'm pretty confused about the monorail...if I don't have any ppo breakfasts or emh plans will I have trouble using monorail due to shutdowns?

This is what everyone is going by, but from what I understand it can change. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/rehab.htm
Just be sure to get a times guide when you check in. It will list the most current schedule for your week. It seems early mornings seem to cause the most confusion, so I was just sharing my experience.

ENJOY Tokelau!:thumbsup2 We stayed in Tokelau twice, most recently May and LOVED it! Would definitely request it again on a future trip. ENJOY your trip! PS. Let either housekeeping or front desk know about the tray of food. If I see that in any of the resorts for a long time, I pick up the phone and call housekeeping or front desk. It is unsanitary for trays to be kept in the halls, not to mention the smell of food and the fact it looks LOUSY!:scared1:
The tray was gone by lunch when we got back from Epcot and Tokelau is the perfect location! We are in love!
