What will Disney's next big attraction be after Expedition Everest? Any news or Rumors?

There are always rumors going around, and you have to take all of them with a grain of salt until you see the construction cranes. Some past and present rumors, Journey to the Center of the earth ride,
Wonders of Life re-hab
Tearing down of Wonders of Life
New ride in Spaceship Earth
Indiana Jones ride
5th Park
Air cushion "space saucer" Ride

These are only a VERY few of the rumors. They are just off the top of my head. Others on these boards will post others, I am sure!

I liked the Brother Bear wet mountain (flume) ride idea for Canada in epcot...I'm betting on an Indy ride or SE redo, which I greatly do not want...

I'd put my money on the Indy ride or something new in the Timekeeper site (I think mitros' Space Saucer ride has been discussed for that location). But it also stands to reason that they would plan something new for Epcot's 25th in 2007.

Hard to believe it's been almost 2 years (October '03) since any new major attractions were announced for one of the Florida parks.

That's correct. The scary part about that rumor was that they were at one time considering gutting the CoP and using that building for the saucers. { a ride from the early days of Disneyland} but they seem to have dropped that idea, hopefully, and as much as I like Timekeeper, I'd rather see that go then CoP!

The next big attraction....

I think Journey To The Center Of The Earth ride would be perfect. That combines dark ride with a thrill ride. All in one!!

I think Disney needs to add more dark rides. That's for sure.

Hopefully they've gotten the flying in a circle rides (i.e. Dumbo, AstoOrbiter, Aladdin, Triceritops Spin) out of their system. But they could be planning to put one in EPCOT or the Studios, since neither of these parks has one.
Cheap....Fast

Well, here is a little fuel to the fire.

I actually got this link from a "update to the TOT accident". But it also has a blurb about a couple of projects for MK with the rest of the room that is left from 20,000 Leagues under the sea. Apparently they have enough room for a ride the size of Haunted Mansion and another ride the size of a fantasyland dark ride.

If bringing back the Flying Saucers is considered a major attraction, then something is very very wrong.

I'd like to see the 20k area used for another large show building housing a couple of great dark rides. Something that is family friendly with very good quality AA, something that will create a good buzz that Disney is building Disney attractions again.

An "Under the Sea" attraction there could be dazzling. As could a really well done Aladdin attraction. A pair of 3 to 4 minute dark rides would be great.

I absolutly agree Greg. There are rumours that TDA really wants to build another Dark ride out west on the scale of Pirates. Unfortunatly, all we're getting is Monster's limo.

Not true, we're also getting our Submarines back (with a finding Nemo overlay). As for Florida, the Beastly Kingdom rumor keeps surfacing from time to time and I agree that if they do much of anything soon it'll be for EPCOT's 25th anniversary. I just can't think of anything besides a new world showcase pavillion that they're likely to do. They just finished Mission:Space, added Soarin' and are cleaning up Living Seas...

They started building a Hundred Acre Woods playground in the 20,00 leages under the sea area. i am sure there will still be tons of room to hopefully build another good ride. I personally don't like the idea of a playground in the park.

Why its nothing new. There is already a great one at each of the other three parks. Why shouldn't MK have a great one also.

A playground is OK, as long as they add another ride or two as the rumors say. The playground seems like a "cheapo" way out.

Tell that to my kids. It's becoming standard for 1/2 of our day at AK to be spent at the Boneyard.

I don't see this as being a "cheap" move at all. By my count, WDW has opened at least 5 major attractions in the last 24 months (Philharmagic, M:S, LMA, Soarin, Stitch) with Expedition Everest just around the corner. I've heard there is room for at least two major attractions in the former lagoon area, in addition to the playground. And I have no doubt that real estate will be utilized...sooner rather than later.

Personally, I think they already have the best. They call it Tom Sawyer Island.

btw, you consider the viking ship at Epcot to be a "great playground"?

I think you have to agree that a playground with no "moving parts" { other then kid power} is cheaper then a ride with a pre-show. That was my point. :)

Well, no i don't consider it to be a great playground, but it is far better than the piece of crap they have in toontown. And it is fairly well themed and fits in well.

I never really thought of Tom Sawyer's Island as a playground but you are right. That is the best.

Let's just hope that they've not only got the spinning rides out of their system, but also ANY carny type rides (Primeval Whirl, Mulholland Madness, Orange Stinger to name a few).

It's time for Disney to knock us dead with an amazing dark ride. :)
