Disney's New Stroller Rental Policy

Apple iis a preferred ecv vendor and their strollers are an extension of their business which gives them preferred privilages to deliver strollers too. So even though they aren't on the stroller list they are on the ecv list.

This makes sense. Thanks.

But maybe Apple doesn't make strollers that meet the size requirements set by Disney for strollers? Just because they are preferred for ECV's I don't think we should assume they are preferred for strollers. I'd be nervous about this one. Just a thought!

You have it backwards dear. Resort guests were inconveniencing the resort staff by having non-Disney strollers delivered to resorts to be stored. No one is preventing a guest from renting a stroller for the duration of their stay only stipulate that the guest must meet the third party company directly.

I agree. It makes sense to me--I hate it for the small companies but as a business it makes sense for Disney to not be spending man hours on storing/retrieving strollers 4 times for each stroller that is rented and delivered. If you consider when the renting company drops it off, the family picks it up from bell services, the family returns it to bell services, and finally the rental company picks it up. That is A LOT of wasted man hours in which Disney sees no return.

Of course this goes into effect the day after we arrive. I'm renting a stroller from A Baby's Best Friend. He called me yesterday and told me to call them as soon as I arrive in Florida tomorrow and a driver will meet me with the stroller. I was going to originally have it dropped off at Bell Services today so it would be at the hotel tomorrow when we arrive. Hopefully it all works out and we get the stroller right away because we have plans to head straight to Magic Kingdom after we check in and I need that stroller!

It's customer service. A business need not see a direct return on each and every little detail specifically. It is part of a bigger picture. And it takes a minute. And I tip them.

So there is a list of companies for which they will continue this service with. That's fine. I get that. I appreciate this type of service at Disney and would be quite disappointed if they discontinued it completely. I am glad that is not the case.

oh--I agree its customer service and it is unfortunate they are needing to do this. Luckily there are still preferred vendors available if a person needs this service. I just wanted to state my opinion and that while it is a loss of certain vendors,-it is not a loss to the guest as there are still preferred vendors available if they desire to have the flexibility.

Gotcha :flower3:

Agreed, it is wonderful that there are some options available.

Does anyone know if there have been any changes made to the grocery delivery service policy?

I would anticipate a change in policy; however, I think there are only two grocery delivery services so it may not be as big an issue.

well i dont see how the size has to do with anything since they all use the same strollers as the other companies. and its not just assuming numerous other families who are going this month have called and asked about it and were told that they will still be delivering through bell service. while others have said that they called their companies and had to make arrangements with them to meet up and get theirs. so were the companies not listed. of course calling is a good choice but from what is being said apple is still a preferred vendor for disney and strollers are now part of their company too.

I got this email from Apple...

Hello Ms. ----,

This change will not affect your reservation with us.

Out of the 18 plus stroller (only) companies, only three are allowed to deliver to Disney hotels starting September 1st, 2013. Aside from them, there are 5 Disney approved ECV vendors that also rents strollers. We are one of the five. The reason we are not mentioned as much is because we are mainly considered scooter vendors. However, we also have strollers as well.

I hope this helped. Today is September the 2nd, and we have been able to deliver all of our strollers on time.

Thank you so much for sharing! We are renting through Apple because we assumed they'd be preferred, and were a little worried when it wasn't one of the three!

Well, nuts! I wish I'd seen this yesterday! Oh well...we really wanted a glider bar anyway & we were able to get one from one of the 'preferred' list.

Next time!

Some friends are there this week and got their strollers from Apple no problem.

I am not shocked Disney did this- I can't imagine the amount of man hours it takes to deal with strollers coming in and out all day long.

I have heard great things about Apple meeting people at various places- one person even had an issue with her stroller and apple met her IN magic kingdom, in the area they were in (didn't have to go to the entrance or anything) to swap out for another stroller.

I am using baby wheels Orlando next month and I am saying in a Disney resort. It doesn't bother me at all to have to meet someone. Your rates are the best! And y'all have awesome customer service.

I understand the reasoning behind this and all but my question is this....If I'm renting from an "unapproved" rental company and flying into Orlando without really knowing exactly when I'm going to be able to meet someone to get my rental stroller, what time do I put on the reservation???

If you don't mind, would you share which vendor from the preferred list had glider bars available. I have rented before from one and they no longer offered them because of liability reasons and the company I have a current reservation with told me they didn't offer them either. Just curious who does have them. thanks.

Thanks for sharing this. Its exactly what I was hearing from others too. It wouldn't make sense for disney to say yes you can for ecvs and wheelchairs but no to strollers if they already have a good relationship with the company.

I can see why Disney is doing this. Even ten years ago people either grabbed te old Graceo they had in the basement or rented from Disney if their kids didnt need a stroller at home but may need one at the parks. Now there could be dozens of strollers stored in baggage storage and Disney loss hours of man power each week retrieving them making sure yet are given to the right person etc. not to mention they have less room in baggage storage for baggage.
At least if they limit who can store the strollers they can keep it under control. No one is prevented from using other companies they just need to meet them at the hotel. It can be relatively easy set up a time you think you will be there. Call them from magic express or car to confirm and meet them in the lobby while checking on or shortly thereafter. Go about your business.
