Disney's New Stroller Rental Policy

OP can you share who you were renting from? Or better yet does anyone know who the preferred vendors are?

I don't know who the preferred vendors are/will be. We are planning to rent from Bay Wheels Orlando.

Bumping this up to see if anyone knows who the preferred stroller vendors are, or who to call to find out? I need to rent a double for our trip in september. Thanks!

I think you need to call the company you're interested in renting from to find out for sure. Some vendors are starting to tell their clients that they won't be able to do resort pickup/dropoff without the guest being present.

The only preferred vendor I know of right now is Kingdom Strollers.

I can see a guest receiving their rented stroller, then calling the company telling them they never received it, get another sent and take the original one home. Leaving Disney to foot the bill, if any, because such stroller was delivered to a resort. Something must have happened with a guest or a stroller company to make them set this policy. :confused3 At least you can still get on delivered to you.

I didn't realize this was a thing. I was looking around for a stroller yesterday, and was looking at Baby Wheels, which had the notice in the OP.

I decided to go with Kingdom.

I used Orlando Stroller Rentals for my upcoming September trip. I specifically emailed them about this issue yesterday and was told that they will continue to operate as scheduled. So as of September 7th they will still be delivering to the bell services desk. I am staying at POR.

Oh man...we have a reservation with baby wheels. They were the most affordable. Looks like I should call and confirm details with them.

Thankfully I have plenty of time to find a new one. We did the rental so the money was taken out when we had it...rather than just hang into it for months.

I can't see that working since you have to sign for the stroller. So disney would have proof that the guest did take the stroller.

Even though Apple is new to strollers they are one for the ecvs so disney works with them already and I am sure they will allo them to continue with strollers too. This is a great convenience so I would hate to see it gone completely but glad it will still be available through some sites.

When we rented from Kingdom Strollers in March, we did not have to sign. We simply asked for the one with our name on it.

Hmm, we used Baby Wheels last time and we were going for November, but we'll have to see.
I would assume this is why Apple started with the stroller, if they are approved for ECV's?

I cancelled with Baby Wheels due to this. It was unfortunate, but I really didn't want to have to worry about meeting a person to get the stroller. It would stress me out of we were late etc.

I apologized to them, and wished them well in the cancellation. The woman who sent me my confirmation number for the cancellation said that Disney simply went with the three biggest companies. She didn't say which ones.

Hopefully the other companies will still get business from the offsite hotel guests. :) I know many of them are smallish businesses and as the spouse of a small business owner, I always want to see them succeed. You may see some of them partnering with some of the bigger offsite hotels.

Disney might also have figured out that selling those Kolcraft strollers at the gift shops is pretty profitable. On our last trip in 2010, we were childless, but saw those strollers and wondered why anyone would pay the high rental fees for a park stroller when they could buy a stroller for $50ish right there at their resort or DTD.

I was happy with Baby wheels last time. I guess if you could maybe call them say when you left the airport it might work.

I emailed Disney and got the following reply about Preferred vendors for strollers:

That is interesting. When I booked with Apple I was told over the phone that they are a preferred vendor for strollers. I really hope they aren't lying about that.

Thanks for this information! I'll cancel with Apple Strollers & go with one of the other companies.

I called apple too and they told me they were a preferred vendor as well and that they would deliver as scheduled.

Last March when I turned my wheelchair in at Bell Services I had to, for the first time, sign the chair in.

Apple iis a preferred ecv vendor and their strollers are an extension of their business which gives them preferred privilages to deliver strollers too. So even though they aren't on the stroller list they are on the ecv list.
