Disney's new perk: pay for 12 - get 5!

I do think that Disney Rewards Credit Card gives a 10% when you buy $50 at some of the disney stores --such as World of Disney. We do the lookie lou's then all buy our items on last day to make sure we have $50--- which we always have way over.

The dining discount is good at 7 restaurants including cs. ( They give discount for mexican in CA but not for Pacific Wharf-- strange)

The card is a no fee card and gives money rewards you can use at disney. ($1 per $100 spent but that adds up fast) We use for all monthly expenses then pay one bill a month to pay the card off-- works great for us, and we end up getting some gift cards for spending at park.

I agree, the annual passes are a great deal, and that’s why my family and I have purchased them for the past 4 ½ years and have received this merchandise discount for 4 ½ years.

As others have mentioned, you are mistaken about receiving the merchandise discount with your DAP for the last 4 1/2 years. Our last trip to DLR was in October, 2009 and there was no discount then as the promotion hadn't started yet. (We also had AP's in the previous years and there was no discount then either). I remember that the promo started right after we returned from our trip, so 3Minnies1Mickey is correct that it started in either Nov. or Dec. of 2009. We always had the food discount, but there was never any merchandise discount with our DAPs during the years that we had them: 2007,2008, and during our October, 2009 trip.

I can assure you that having just returned today from a week long trip at Disney, the discount is still being given and all the CMs are making sure to let you know at the time of purchase that this is a temporary discount that has been extended throughout 2011.

I originally became a Deluxe annual passholder in 2007 and after only being able to receive a disount on food and at the World of Disney I upgraded and have carried a premium pass since January of 2009. For the last year I have received a 20% discount and that has been extended through this year. The great thing is I no longer have to spend the $10 minimum to be allowed to use my pass. The discount on merchandise is the one reason that I am the only family member to have the premium while my children and husband carry a deluxe pass.

Just got one because an AP doesn't make sense for us. My Discover has at times a better points program but between the 10% off and 6 month no apr for trips this card may be the bridge for some between the differnt AP's

All the discounts can and do come and go..I never thought I'd get that 10% off at stores and it was nice when did..if we do when we go next week, then great..if not, that's ok..it's a PERK..the AP is for getting into the park..that's it..and we figure that going even twice in one year makes that worth it. I tend to just flap all the cards out there and see if any stick (AP, DVC, D23). Oh..I also got a coupon for 10% when my AP renewal came in which is still good when I go.

Thanks for the heads up. I am one of the ones who thought this WAS a perk of the AP. I considered the discount when deciding if an AP was right for me. I think a lot of people do...especially long distance visitors, like myself.

I understand this was a mistake on my part, but I have to say Disney has a way of making some things very confusing. When CMs are confused, imagine the the general public.

I do find it ironic that most of the DTD stores are still listed as giving the discount on merchandise, but not World of Disney.

We had DAPs first, we did not get the discount on merchandise unless I showed my Disney Visa, and even then some of the CM's said I had to use the Visa to get the discount (which was not true). The discount was an added perk, it was not standard. When you purchase an Annual Pass you are purchasing admission for a year, you aren't paying for a discount. One of the main reasons we decided to get the PAP for our last AP was due to the fact that we could get the discount on merchandise. OP you are getting exactly what you paid for, in addition you are getting an additional offer of a 10% discount on merchandise, sounds good to me. :)
