Disney's New "Magic your Way tickets" and 2005 Packages

As everyone else. These new packages open up new options. Last time we stayed at the Dolphin at the Nurses rate nice deal. My wife loved the Sweet Sleeper beds, and the water taxi to MGM and Epcot was neat. We thought about a May trip we wanted to see if we could stay there again. With this new package (which we love the ticket options).

We really like the dinning package idea. But it makes us wonder if staying at Swan or Dolphin along with the dinning package, would be very time consuming. Since all restaurants are in Disney hotels or parks. Also since it would be a package through Disney not sure you would get a good deal on the hotel part of the package even though Disney does book Swan and Dolphin rooms, I have never seen a good discount rate through them.

Does give us excuse to try WL or AKL. Not a bad back up plan that is for sure.

You would not be able to get the "nurses" rate by booking a package through Disney so the room with dinning I would assume is going to be more expenseive then getting the discounted room rate and then paying for your dinning.

As far as I can tell from reading this board and others, the only way to get the dinning plan is for it to be part of the Magic Your Way package, not as a room only ticket option.

Yes. According to what I have read the Swan and Dolphin are included.

You can get S/D rooms with the meal plan add-on? Where did you read this? I never saw S/D being part of a Disney package before since they have their own specials on room rates. Or are we going on the assumption that all the rooms, including S/D, are going to be at rack rate and it's the tickets and meals that make the package a good deal?

None of the S/D restaurants are listed on the restaurants that are included in the package meal deal, so I would be surprised if they were part of the packages.

That is how I understood what I read over on mousesavers.com. I am going to have to go back and read it again.

I cannot get onto the actual Disney site right now but I swear that I read that you could get a package for the S/D booking through the Disney site and if that is the case it would seem logically that you could also add the dining option.

We will have to wait until the site is back up but I still do not think it would be a good deal as you can only get the good rate by dealing with the S/D and not the WDW Travel Company.

I'm excited to find out more about this on 1/2 and hoping the rooms aren't rack rate so we can get the dining option. I'm wondering if there will be less room only discount codes coming out to encourage people to go with these packages.

I discovered these threads a few months ago, and it took me that long to learn the lingo. So I am an infrequent poster, but am becoming an addicted reader. Anyway...I booked 9 days in late July through AAA at WL with UPH for Myself, DW, DS7 and DS8. From what I can tell AAA saved me around 10% over booking through Disney(pkg price is $2700 woods view). I look forward to seeing the new MYW rates, and am resigned to re-booking the entire trip if necessary. My question will be about food values for kids. If I go with the dining option, they are limited to the childrens menu for all dining options. My kids like to eat, and I don't know if they can eat burgers, dogs, and mac&cheese for 9 days. Does anyone have a take on how the all you can eat restaurants will fit into the dining plan? Any other comments would be appreciated.

Well it does state they have to use a childrens menu where available. I'm thinking we'll probably do buffets like 1900, CM, CMC etc. then they'll have the option of eating from both buffets.

You do know you can get the AAA rate on the "room only" right?

...I sure wish that I could book the dining option WITHOUT a pkg!! After all, we ARE staying on-site..... :guilty:

Who said you can't. I thought it was a make the package your way?

My understanding ( and that's not saying much ) is that you have to have a room pkg. with passes for the days you are there in order to get the meal add on.

According to what's posted on various sites, the dining option must be purchased for the same number of nights you are staying.

I tried to figure out prices of two packages so I have something to compare when the packages come out in January. I came up with:

7 nights Pop Century = $772.80 ($110.40 per night incl. tax)
7 day base ticket = $211.94 x 4 people = $847.76
7 day meal plan = $245.00 per person for 7 days x 4 people = $980.00
Total = $2,600.56

7 nights Coronado Springs = $1,162.98 ($166.14 per night incl. tax)
7 day base ticket = $211.94 x 4 people = $847.76
7 day meal plan = $245.00 per person for 7 days x 4 people = $980.00
Total = $2,990.74

This is June 5-12, 2005. Looking at this I know we could eat for less than $980 in seven days, but I don't think we'd eat as well (much more counter service). If anyone sees where I messed up please let me know!

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think they charge for the last day (your check out day)!!! That's still just too much money!!!

Oops! Thanks for catching my mistake! I should have put the $245 was one person for 7 days then x 4 people = $980. I'll go back and edit my post!

...your ressies must specifically be a 'package' to qualify for the dining option.. Right now, I have 'room only' using code BDP, and I was going to purchase [in the VERY near future] PH passes [or MYW, depending on which comes out to be the cheaper deal]. If I can wrangle getting my ressies with the prices I'm already paying, I'm DEFINITELY adding on the dining option!

I'm in the same boat Kim - but I already bought my hotwire passes and have the bdp rate at Pop - I'm hoping I can use the hotwire passes towards the cost of the package b/c that dining addition is really the way to go!

I think for me this is a case of you can't teach an old dog new tricks! Not that I'm that old but all the numbers just start swirling around and I end up with a headache.

So maybe somebody could straighten me out, please?

DH & I want to go in April. I wanted to make a reservation using the BDP code. DH said to wait. Why? We'll book the room closer to time. He just doesn't understand. So we've missed out on the code.

We do have APs though. My thinking is that I should just make a reservation and not tell him just yet. When/if AP codes come out then I'll try and use that code.

Now, since we have AP's we don't need media. However, he wants to add the dining option.

So...
*you can or cannot add the dining option if you are not buying media?
*you can or cannot add any options if you are reserving your room with an AP rate?

My thinking, and correct me if I'm wrong, is to reserve a room-only now. When/if the AP rates come out compare that rate plus what we might spend in food to the MYW rate plus the dining option and see which is cheaper. Unless of course you can't do that unless you purchase media.

See, my head hurts again. :headache:

Okay I think I might have just answered my own question. The MYW is the resort and media. Then you can add on options such as dining. So if you don't need media (having APs) then you wouldn't book the package.

What about if you go and stay on-site but don't want to go into the parks? You couldn't get the dining option either then? I know it sounds strange but there are non-park things to do ... Richard Petty, nice restaurants, using up your Plusses from previous trips ...
