Disney's magical express
me ,my grandma and grandad are going to disney world again next year but its the first time of staying in a disneyworld hotel we stayed in a DLP hotel but we caught a taxi there.
i would like to know if is any good and is that magical??? does it start the holiday with a bang or not??

It is free roundtrip transportation from the airport. I don't think anyone has described it as magical. It is a great way to get to the resorts.

I've described it as magical!

To me, the magical part is the automatic luggage delivery. Your bags "magically" appear inside your room whether you are in there or not.

It's been very successful. It was launched in May 2005 and was supposed to end in October 2006, but in April 2006 it was extended through the end of 2011.

DME has been serving about 5,000-10,000 people a day, which means in over 2.5 years about 400 bazillion people have used it (well, okay, we'll round that down to about 4.2 MILLION guests, in all seriousness).

Don't get me wrong ... a bus ride is still just a bus ride. It's not like Aladdin is bringing you to your resort on his magic carpet. I don't want to romanticize it as the very best thing ever, but it's a pleasant shared bus ride, as pleasant as a shared bus ride can be.

Have there even been isolated problems with DME? Sure. Have there ever been isolated problems with car services, taxis and rental cars? Sure.

Bottom line: trust Disney to do things well.

I used this for the first time this past week and was fairly impressed. I landed at 11:00am on a Saturday and was really worried when I saw the line of people waiting stretching WAY down the hall. We were told it would be an hour and 15 minutes at least to get on a bus but it ended up taking only like 30 minutes.

The only complaint I had (if you can call it that) was that because I chose to land at such a busy time we got stuck on a regular old Mears Transportation bus instead of the nice DME or DCL buses that were running. Normally I would not care but this was a pretty old bus with virtually no AC so those of us in the back were roasting. The driver put in a well used copy of Cinderella and we were on our way.....

Bags showed up in our room about 5:00pm which was pretty good considering the number of people checking into the POP that day. The trip back the the airport was in a nice DME bus with working AC and the ever present DVC sales pitch video playing :)

All in all while I would not call it "magical" it is a pretty impressive service for the price.

It is hard to beat a free ride to Disney.

It's a bus ride. Sometimes the drivers will try and get the passengers excited about going to Disney World.

I agree, the most magical part of it is the cost.

The 'average' time from deplaning to resort checkin is about 70 mins, give or take a few. Your bags should reach your resort within 3 hrs of resort checkin...sometimes much sooner if you are able to get into your room right away.
Magical? Maybe not, but it is a decent service. If you don't mind sharing your ride to your resort with a bunch of like-minded people, all in a holiday mood, and don't mind waiting a bit for your luggage, and like the idea of saving over $100, then DME is for you.
There really isn't a down side to it. It is still mass transportation so if you are okay with that, then go for it.
