I was excited that we got our Disney’s Magical Express stuff in the mail yesterday. As if I wasn’t already worried about trying this since it's something new to me, I took everything out and read everything and our names and everything in the booklet looked okay. I look at the tags for our luggage…they have a different couple's names on them! I was thinking…what the heck? It was 9:15PM at night because I had just gotten home from my friend’s house. So, I had to call and wait on the line and tell them. She said, they should send you new tags out…I said, they’d better. If not, we’re not using that service. I know it’s free, but if they mess it up twice…no way.

I'm the worrier in the family and wasn't sure if we should try this to begin with, but DH said that we should. Can some of you that have used this service give me some input on it...good or bad?

I'd like to know as well.
In particular I'd like to know how long it took for your bags to get to resort you are staying at. We'll be arriving at MCO 9:45am
What's the frequency of ME picking up and dropping off?

Thanks

I can't say enough GOOD about ME service. We had 8 people going to OKW and we were walking in the door of our villa and our luggage was coming in right behind us! We went straight from airport to OKW, checked in--room ready, found our bldg and there was the luggage golf cart pulling in with us.
Also, Delta LOST my sister's luggage (she came in from green bay) and it was FOUND in BRAZIL! Delta was rude to my sister, said she'll probably never see it again! Magical Express took it upon themselves, even though this had nothing to do with them, and they FOUND her luggage and had it sent RUSH to OKW. They kept in close contact with my sister and let her know the status every day, they asked her what do you need, clothes? toiletries? She told them nothing because we have a full size washer and dryer in the grand villa at OKW and there were 10 of us so we could share alot of items with her but we all thought it was great of ME to take ownership of a problem they had nothing to do with. This is my second time using ME and both times it was wonderful and efficient. :thumbsup2

We've used ME a few time and have nothing but GOOD with it .

They can make any corrections needed over the phone or at the Check-in desk.

We rent a car as well and from now on we are renting at the CCC or a DTD hotel location and just using mE for back and forth to airport.

If the correct tags don't arrive, it would be much better to put no tags at all on the luggage, put a colorful piece of ribbon on each piece and bring a small piece of that ribbon with you.

Give your airline claim checks to the DME desk person and the matching piece of ribbon. They will get your bags for you and they will be delivered to your resort.

If you don't get new yellow tags in time, use the ones you have. Bring along the matching booklet or ticket stubs. Cross out the incorrect persons' names thorougly and write in y our own name. If the resort name is incorrect you only need to draw one line through it when writing in the correct resort name. Do not cross out the bar code.

Let's start a fad!
Make up 3x5 cards (4x6 better) all with the same 3 digit number of your choice in big print. Plaster these on your baggage. (Your baggage still needs your name on the outside, either on the card or elsewhere.)

This could present a problem if the entire reservation is in someone else's name. DME could have just sent them the complete wrong tags. The reservation number could be wrong, as well as the resort and the name!
I would hesitate to put any tags that weren't correct on my bags...unless DME told me to. You will probably get your new tags in plenty of time since you have a month or so to go.

As for the other questions.....when you bags get to your room can depend on when you get into a room! If you are able to get right into your room after you check in, then your luggage most likely won't be there for a few hours. But, if you have to wait for a room, and head off to the parks rather than wait around, your bags will most likely be there, in the room when you get back from the park. It generally takes about 3 hours for the bags to get to the resort.
It is taking about 70 minutes, average, to get from your plane to your resort checkin line. The buses pick up quite frequently. The only time this might differ is if you are coming in later in the evening...then the buses don't appear to be as frequent.
I've used DME about 3 times now, had great service each time.

You actually don't even need the yellow DME luggage tags to use DME.

If your bags aren't tagged, you can still skip baggage claim and go right to the DME Welcome Center. There, they'll ask for your baggage claim ticket numbers, as well as a description of your bags, and a CM will go and get your bags and send them on their way via DME truck (your checked luggage doesn't go with you on the bus) for automatic delivery to the inside of your resort room.

Luggage delivery tends to happen about 2-3 hours after arrival.

Those who are worried about DME have little to worry about, except worry about the unknown. About 3 million people have used DME so far, with exceeedingly few problems. Most of the complaints I've read came from people who didn't understand how DME works (for example, complaining that they didn't have immediate access to their checked luggage, even though it even states this right in Disney's DME booklet). DME was originally slated to end this fall, but it's ben extended through at least 2011 -- if it wasn't successful and popular, Disney wouldn't have stuck with it, KWIM?

I totally agree. The advice we've heard to leave the barcode untouched was in cases where it was OUR reservation but the printing of the resort was wrong on the tag -- since the barcode refers to our reservation number, the computer scan would reveal the correct resort reservation. However, it it's simply that the WRONG TAGS were sent to the wrong person, then the barcode is likely wrong, too.

I agree that no tags would be better than those wrong tags with the wrong names (which I alluded to in my post without saying it explicitly).

Thanks everyone for such great responces. I figured that DME would be wonderul like most things Disney, but it's change...I fear change! LOL. We go to WDW once or twice a year and this is the first time that we're trying it. From what you've all said...I think it will be a great new benefit for us. Thanks so much. :thumbsup2
