Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

Please forgive me if this question has been asked, but with 29 pages I was getting cross-eyed trying to find this out.

My party is arriving at MCO on 2 different flights.

Can the first party arriving wait for the second party before getting on the bus or do we have to leave right away and wait at the resort.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Does DME is Free? And any website or phone number for DME!
Yes, it is free. It can be booked by calling whomever you booked your resort reservation with.

That's no problem. You aren't assigned to any one particular bus. I would say that if the second party is arriving within an hour of the first group, then, sure wait around for them. I know that I like to get to my resort rather than be at the airport. When I went down in Dec, we had a friend who was supposed to arrive about 30 mins after we did, so we were going to wait for her and ride the bus together. But, her flight got delayed and she wasn't arriving for over 90 mins...we went on without her and met up at the resort.

I'm going to FL in June and I'm confused about how the Magical Express works. I know I used it last year when I went in June but we didnt check our bags with DME. This time we'll be checking our bags with DME. I'm confuzzled about the whole thing. HELP!!!

Meredith :tinker:

if you are checking your bags at your home airport with the DME tags attached, all you have to do is get off your flight in Orlando and go the Welcome Center to check into the Desk. Disney will take care of the rest for you on the luggage.

I've also used DME before, but I have a question for our upcoming trip:

We will not be flying back home until about 7pm, so we plan on going to the park on our last day.

Can you catch a DME bus at the parks or do you need to go to a hotel to catch one?

Not only any hotel, but your hotel. The only place you can catch a DME bus back to the airport is the WDW resort you are checking out of that day.

Thanks so much! I thought that if it didn't leave from the park, we could catch it at the nearest hotel.

Okay, another question. What do we do with our luggage that last morning before we head to the parks. Can we go ahead and leave it at the DME check in desk, or what?

Have Bell Services store your bags for you.

Just to clarify, there's no such thing as DME desk at the resorts. There is a Resort Airline Check-in desk, but RAC is a separate service from DME. The people at the RAC desk truly have nothing to do with DME, and have no responsibilities for DME luggage or DME passengers. I know it might seem like it's all part of the same thing, but it isn't.

Received our yellow tags and 1 name is wrong on them do I need to do anything special? It has my boyfriends last name being the same as mine.

ie. his name is Joe Smith my name is Kay Doe they have Joe Doe and Kay Doe

If I need to get them changed who do I contact.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I would just cross off his incorrect last name and put in the correct one. It shouldn't make a difference in any case.

I used DME on my most recent trip to WDW and it worked great. I love it! Now my question is:
If I just do a Disney Cruise (not a land/sea package) can I use DME to go to Port Canaveral?

Thanks,

Unfortunately, no.

DME is strictly for service between MCO and WDW owned-and-operated resorts.

DCL has its own bus service, but it's not free. Depending on the number of people in your party, it may be cheaper for you to arrange private transportation like a car service.

Thanks for the reply. Well, if I take a cruise it will just be me going. So, it shouldn't be too bad.

I am doing a Land/Sea DCL Package with transportation. My question... The last trip we used DME, our tags were yellow. With this land/sea trip, the tags are trimmed in blue with DCL on them and the resort name, our names, and our stateroom number. Do they still work the same as the yellow tags. When we get off of our SW flight, do we still just go down to the DME buses and expect our luggage at the resort? Or, should I be expecting yellow tags in a separate package?

We have a 6:15 a.m. flight. Does Magic Express still pick up from the resort 3 hours ahead, so 3:15 a.m., or is it a little later, being so early (no traffic, not busy at airport yet, fewer people on ME, etc.)? Thanks in advance - Maureen

3 hours +/- about 15 minutes is the standard at all times.

We would like to rent a car. Can we still send our luggage to the resort using the yellow tag.

TIA

Disney says no. But there have been many reports of people doing exactly what you want to do. The only problem might be if the airline misdirects, or loses, any of your luggage. If you haven't checked in with DME at their counter, before boarding the bus, they won't know there is luggage missing! You could get to your resort via your rental car, check in, and thinking that your bags will be in your room later on, you would go off to a park for the day. You return, later that evening, tired but happy, only to find some, or worse yet, all, your bags missing. Now, it's hours later, hard to track those bags.
So....do what you feel works best for your family. Just be advised that tagging your checked bags for transport with DME and then going off and renting a car, is not how Disney meant the system to work.
