Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

Wahoooooo I finally get the whole gate check thing. Thank you for the helpful tips. I love these boards!

so...I know this sounds like I'm repeating...but I'm not..(maybe:confused3 )
I called - told the hotel line of our airline time and plans- just got tags today(whoopee,1st time,so excited!!!) - but they say no info for flight- it doesn't matter when we get in,right? it has the correct date,so we just head to the desk, and we'll be ok? (so excited so excited)
...And....is this heresy to tell the return desk you'll take a later flight than you actually will? or is that impossible to do using resort checkin(which we will be) to return home?
I've read a few threads on check in times for flights, long lines,etc-and wondered what anyone thought of this idea....

I would call DME and update them with your flight information. No you won't be able to give them a different flight time since you will be checking in for your flight.

Yep, you've got it. But.....I wouldn't give DME a different time of departure for your flight. If you are planning on checking your bags at your resort, you will have to have the correct times with them. Besides, you're only talking about a difference of about half an hour here. You may need that time when you get to the airport..if you run into any kind of heavy traffic, an accident, long security lines, well, you get my drift. Much better to just leave at the right time.

ok- point taken...... um- about the date we arrive- I hesitate to call again on this reservation,as i've read some horror stories about when you call for a res.#- sometimes the cm changes things around, and before you know it,there are mistakes all over your plans.....if we just use these tags, and get there, will we be abe to grab the bus? they have the right date and hotel on them...

Just got my ME tags today!!!:cheer2: :cool1: :woohoo:

Only thing, they came to my neighbor.:scared1: I booked thru a DU TA, and I know she had my address right, but Disney got it wrong. :confused3 Good thing I have good, honest, and friendly neighbors. :thumbsup2

Anyway, it didn't have my flight info listed. I have given all this info to the TA. She said that sometimes that happens, and that Disney will pass that info. on to ME later.

Is this true? Should I be worried? Should I call the 800 number to confirm? I'm a little nervous about using ME, so this isn't boosting my confidence. Not saying that I won't use it, just that it is making me doubt.

DISERS....please reassure me.

Nope, no need to worry. As long as you have those yellow tags you're good to go. DME really doesn't need to know exactly when you're arriving..just a ball park idea, so if they get the flight info, fine. If not, that's okay as well.

Finally got our tags yesterday. On the transportation voucher for some reason they have one for me and my husband, and one for my son and daughter in-law. They should have been sent their own right? They also didn't put our flight info either. They said it was provided, and everything was given to them. Do I contact them again, or is it necessary?

I am familiar with the DME pick up being 3 hours prior to flight departure time. One member of our group on an upcoming trip is likely to take a flight that leaves at 7:30 am. Will he really need to take bus at 4:30 am or are those off-peak times handled differently?

7:30am is more of a peak time... a good percentage of the days flights out of OIA leave prior to 9am.

Hi all.. I'm heading (back) to Disney next week with 3 pieces of checked luggage.. and 2 DME tags. Should I cut one of the tags in half or just bring the luggage claim ticket to the Welcome Center ?

(I know, 3 bags for 1 person is nuts. I've been away from home for 2 months, coming home after Disney and pretty much bringing Walmart back with me!)

Okay, 24 pages later I know the answer but still have to ask the question to make sure I'm right...we're taking Southwest - we CAN put on the yellow tags and ignore our luggage, go straight onto the ME bus and our luggage will be brought to our resort?

The way back we bring our own luggage on the bus.

Thanks!!!

That is correct!

Wow - you're fast! Thanks so much, now I don't have to worry that I misunderstood and I can enjoy my extra time. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Question:

Does ME still require you to pick up your own bags if you arrive after 11pm?

Last March we had to claim our own bags due to an 11:30pm arrival time. This was quite the surprise as we had never had to collect our own bags before. Having an idea of what to expect wil definately help keep our sanity as we are traveling with two tiny tots.

Hi everyone!
I'm leaving tomorrow for WDW! I'm flying from England and booked my reservation directly over the the WDW website and booked DME with it. The luggage tags havn't arrived (i never get anything from disney for some reason!)

So... without the luggage tags i will pick up my luggage. Go to Terminal B level one to the welcome centre. Go to the desk with my resort reservation and they will tell me which coach to get on?

will i be taking my luggage to the coach from the welcome desk myself or will they take it for me?

thanks

At that point, you are best off keeping your luggage with you. If, for some reason, you don't care about your luggage being with you, you can skip baggage claim and head right to the DME counter. You can give the CM your baggage receipts as well as a description of the bags and number of them. They will send someone to get the bags and they will go to the resort on a truck. You will not have immediate access to the bags.
If you don't tag the bags, you may be better off just claiming them and taking them with you to DME checkin. That way you will have your bags when you get into your room. After checking in at the desk, you will be directed over to the left, to the bus area. There, a CM will tell you which line you should be in. There are also signs listing what resorts are in which line. IF you have your bags with you, they will go underneath the bus you are riding on, and then taken off when you get to your resort. You will then have them with you. If your room isn't ready yet, you can leave the bags with Bell Services until the room is ready. Have a terrific trip!!

I was looking through my documents a couple days ago, and realized that they sent vouchers and tags for both my friend and me, since it's the two of us on the hotel reservation. However, only I am flying, and therefore only I will be using DME. Do we need to call them back and let them know, or just not even worry about it?

So when do these tags usually arrive, as in, how far before the trip?
